Resident Evil HD Remaster |OT| Rediscover the evil.

The best and most logical thing they could do, I think.

With REmake, they took existing, unused elements of the 1996 game, that being George Trevor's affiliation with Umbrella, and ran with it. Elza would need some tweaking so as not to clash too much with Claire, but it'd go down well, especially with old school RE fans.

I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a bit of 1.5 in a REmake 2, actually.
I think Capcom should reuse areas from RE1.5 to flesh out RE2's map, like how they added new areas like the Graveyard in REmake. Make some new areas only accessible in Part A and some in Part B.

I don't think there should be a full Elza Walker scenario as she, obviously, seems too similar to Claire. if Capcom decide to do a Mercenaries mode for RE2make, maybe she could be a skin for Claire.

God I forgot how great this game is. So much atmosphere, and some of the areas look absolutely amazing in HD. The woods sticks out as looking particularly great.

Also, I lost my skill with the tank controls. I used to hardly fire a round playing old school RE games, I've been low on ammo and low on health this whole playthrough. And I've completely forgotten what to do so I've spent a lot of time wandering around haha.

My biggest concern with a hypothetical Remake of RE 2 is that they won't handle it with the same respect and care that they did for RE 1 (which was supervised by top talent like Shinji Mikami). Will they fully redo all 4 scenarios? Will they maintain the slower exploratory survival horror elements or instead try and streamline the game to make it more fast paced and action packed? The fact that they took some shortcuts with the HD port of RE remake and Capcom's track record these past few years doesn't fill me with confidence.

Jill's character model in Remaster, Julia Voth, is streaming the game now. It's pretty entertaining.

Man, I'm telling you, I clicked ALL around that room. At least now I have hope!

I actually pushed through and played another hour to beat the game just to see if the trophy would pop and it didn't. So now it is back to my save in Lisa's cabin so I can head back down to the compactor.

Hopefully that clip is all I'm missing!

its defintely that. its just about the only thing in the room and at first its like impossible to spot. but when you go there and see its, you're gonna be all... wtf?! how did i not spot that? i actually found a post about it online. seems like we weren't the only ones who had trouble locating the little bugger.

First time play re1(played 2 and 3 on ps1 briefly, got into the series with 4)
liking the game but the backtracking is annoying Mainly because of the door animation every 5 seconds, hope they let us turn it off in re2.

Also once finished can i play as jill but with the additional items from Chris campaign?

so they modeled a 16 year old girl and then added boob physics. wow, wtf

The actor who portrayed Jill in RE1 (PS1 version) was also around the same age (she was attending high school at the time). I guess Mikami really wanted Jill to look like a teenager.

The question I frequently ask myself when the topic comes up... what would be the big 'Lisa Trevor' change to REmake 2? A new enemy? A new area? A new playable character?

I'd always thought they should just merge RE2 and RE3 together if they were going to do a remake. In terms of chronology they're close enough for it to work, and it's a big enough change that it would be like a "List Trevor" moment.

Or retool aspects of Darkside Chronicles and Umbrella Chronicles (along with new areas) to create an Ada Wong campaign.

Went back to that save today. That's what is was, although I still don't think it's very obvious. It was hiding behind a light fixture on the ground. Very sneaky, Capcom!

After work I will go down to the laboratory, finish this game, and finally have my platinum!

Thanks again for the help.

But both times she really didn't look like a teenager.

Speaking of Julia Voth, I'm surprised Capcom didn't neuter Jill's face for this release. They actually did just that to her when Umbrella Chronicles was ported to PS3, by replacing the Julia Voth face with the Revelations/ORC design.

Normal is only hard if you're playing it for your first time. If you already know what's ahead, you should have played it on hard. Even hard is not that hard though.

It was my first time playing this game, and I started a normal playthrough.

I am getting rekt. I've got all the masks, but I'm running out of supplies. Little to no ammo and health items are running low.

I might start over on easy.

EDIT: My only complaint is the item management. It's really annoying to have to run back to the item box all the time. They could have simply added a "your carrying at max capacity, would you like to send this item to your item box?" prompt.

BRB, deleting Umbrella PS3.

If you have the shotgun, you shouldn't be running into too many issues. And you shouldn't be killing EVERYTHING in your way.

Did Capcom need her permission to have her likeness in the game?

REmaster? No,
RE5 yes
Revelations would have needed it if they didn't change it before release.
Umbrella Chronicles is a weird situation though, not sure.

(this is discounting some crazy "you have my likeness till the end of time" contract which never happens.)

I have the shotgun, but I'm low on shells. And yeah, I may have been using my items too frivolously because I was not sure what was ahead.

The crimson zombies are really messing me up too.

If you have to start over, start over on normal. It shouldn't be that bad now that you know who to kill and who not to kill.

-For example, don't kill any dogs in the mansion. That's unnecessary.
-Remember the hall with 3 zombies right before the puzzle trap to get a key? You can always avoid that room by taking alternate routes. You don't have to kill them. I never did on any of my 3 play throughs.
-On the second floor above the dining room, you can always easily walk around that zombie.
-The room with the diary. There's two zombies. Just avoid them. It might be better to take a hit if you have to and use a defensive weapon. Because you won't have to go in that room again.
-If you have to kill a zombie, use a shotgun most of the time and aim for their head. Because then they might not come back. Especially use a shotgun if you're far away from a kerosene spot. Only use handgun if you're close to a kerosene spot and can easily burn the bodies, like by the save rooms.

Could someone shed some light as to how to access the hidden room behind the painting of the mansion in the gallery on the 1st floor? What's in there?

Is that the room with the crows?

No, it's the 1st room accessible east of the mansion entance/stairs on the first floor. This is the room that you first pick up the first defensive item where you have to move a short bookcase to get access to a back room where a number of paintings are stored.

In a Spencer entry found later in the game, it references a secret room behind a painting of the mansion. This painting can be found in the back room that I mentioned. It even shows the secret room on the map, which I have not yet accessed (you don't even need to access the room to beat the game).

Does than mean you can't unlock the "discover every place, get every item" trophy/achievement in your first run?

You can. You don't have to go to the dressing room to get that achievement - at least on your first playthrough, when you don't have the dressing room key yet.

Burn bodies, which should be very few before the shotty. Once you get the shotty, don't be afraid to get up close an personal with zombies. Point the shotty up and once their head is lined up the the barrel... Bye-bye zombie face. I prefer this method to constantly dodging in tight hall ways. Shooting heads off removes the threat permanently and saves ammo, saves lots of inventory space by only carrying the loaded shot gun and in game time by not having to slow down to do tricky dodge maneuvers.

By the last area of the game, even on hard, I still have more shells than I need.

They do, but it seems like she is happy to let them continue using it, they just won't for some reason.

They should just go for it and and continue working with her. As far as I'm concerned Julia = Jill. It's news to me that she was only 16 though... I was in High School, about the same age as her... Crazy! But it looks a little creepy from the adults at capcom modeling her physique.

I absolutely love this game . Today I beated it for the 14th time. I actually thought how would it be to put resident evil 2 music into re1. So I started with the famous save room music from re2. In my eyes it's perfect for re1 as well.

Any opinions ?

I like it.

Is there a list of good mods? Not counting the nude mods.

I'll try the door mod after I finish my Jill Real Survival run. I'm hoping for some good weapon mods down the track. Like the RE0 sub-machine gun or hunting rifle when that happens. Or the laser that was found in the debug of the GC version.

its cool. not as good as REmakes own save room theme though. try it with RE0's save room theme. that's the one.

Congrats. What ended up being the item you were missing?

Can you make one of the part where you go back to the mansion fighting hunters and go to the basement? I think that was two biggest misses of the Remake in not having the original music.

I'm stuck. I mean it's been 10 years but I've done everything up to this point and I have no idea what to do.

I need the helmet key, but that comes after you get all 4 death masks right? But then you need the helmet key to get to the red gemstone to open the jewellery box which I need to get out of the mansion area right? I'm so confused.

All I have is the Wind Crest, 3 death masks and the Jewellery Box.

Wrong box.
The one you have doesn't need the jewel, but has two switches on it you need to press to open it
