Project X Zone 2: New World for 3DS

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Fuuuck I want Nintendo to get into this.

But stray away from most of their big name dudes. Some folks from Fire Emblem would be alright, as they "fit" with the other characters, but use people from Xenoblade, Zengeki Reginlev, Donbe and Hikari, Takamaru, maybe Devil as the cute arcade-based character...

Will they try to modernize it a bit and have Jude and Milla in it instead? 'Cause I still want my Yuri and Estelle.

for tales along with Yuri I hope its Sorey and Rose, I need more laugh
but Im sure if zestiria is in its going to be mikleo
and SMT is a must now

Well obviously it's not like I can (or want to) vouch for them :p
Just reporting what's been said during the event, I couldn't even stay for the whole duration of it so most of it comes from a friend reporter of mine.
If you meant you're taking with a lot of salt what *I've* written (meaning I made it up) then I'm a bit buffled, besides the fact it s not the first time I report on things or break minor news which you couldn't possibly knew/remember of course, it's not like I've reported a megaton or some kind of whoa-scoop!11! lol :) no offense taken either way! Just thought it could be a somewhat interesting thing to share.
Don't get me wrong, I really want what you posted to be true... but my experiences with Japanese media companies tells me that your pal either misinterpreted something or Bandai Namco's talking about stuff they'll probably never deliver on... again.

So the countdown was for pxz2 and not cyber sleuth?
Seriously gtfo..
I caved and bought pvz, but it's a shitty cameo game, with a shallow battle system and a pathetic story..
You fooled me once bamco, not going to happen a second time ;)

All I ask for (aside from more characters) is that they make the chapters shorter and have more fun with the fact they're having a crossover. Can't wait to hear more coverage on this when ever it gets an actual announcement.

First one constantly goes on sale though so you can get it for 10 bucks or whatever a year later and then it suddenly isn't so bad.

I wonder if Nintendo can join in the crossover fun

why do you expect much for a fanservice game, and how did you ever linked the site to cyber sleuth (which is similarly a mediocre game)

with that said it's much better than Namco X Capcom, good lord that one is a drag

Nintendo characters can go take a hike and stay far away from the next game also.

I was at the event.
The biggest news (which maybe would deserve its own thread too?) more than PXZ2 imo is that speaking with Cris and also by looking at the (yet not officiallly) announced line up is that BNE is going all in on PC.
You can expect 90% of their titles to be released on PC and he even said clearly that Europe will get first class treatment thanks to being more receptive to the Bandai products of the company (anime licenses and such) compared to NA markets, which will be reflected in more localizations than ever and, as already said, PC releases for almost everything.
He even reiterated that thanks to PC will be seeing more titles localized, even for many games which didn't have a PC release originally for the japanese market.

Sounds great!

If this is true (no offense meant, I just take people's word with a lot of salt when it comes to Japanese media companies not being retarded w/ global markets), that probably has a lot to do with them getting their IPs to Europe before NA and how shit their NA efforts have been since the anime boom. Most of their problems here in NA stem from not listening to people who actually know the market.

To be honest, markets like France and Germany have always been more receptive in terms of anime-styled or japanese themed games than the USA. Same for IPs Bandai already owns.
Which doesn't make it surprising for Bamco to focus on Europe for their catalogue and genres, like other similar companies.
Which makes it all the more baffling when companies like Atlus or Nisa don't care at all about Europe, when smaller/more niche companies don't do much more but seemingly without any problems for better results.

I hope the art direction is nicer

In some aspects it was better than Namco x Capcom, but the actual promotional art looked…

Project_X_Zone_MainVisual.jpg

…like a magazine editor just shopped a bunch of different character art into one canvas.
But they should perhaps ditch the battle system and just go for a more traditional SRPG feel. Otherwise, though it's asking a lot, make battles actual free-control fights a la 'Tales of'

as bad as it can be, i doubt it can be pxz bad :)
pxz had NO redeeming factor..
useless story, terrible battle system, forgettable music (apart from 2-3 tunes.. i think the intro wa good at least in terms of music..)..
get a grip...

Not actually that important

I sincerely doubt it. I was there too for a good while, my buddy is a reporter for a mainstream newspaper which sells hundreds of thousand of copies and the speaker was also BNE's Italian gm (Cris/Christian/Christophe... can't be arsed to remember lol, I guess it's just a google away edit: Christophe Berrard, managing director of BNE Italy), there wasn't much room for mistranslations since the message wasn't delivered in japanese.
Second hypothesis is more likely :p

Tho IT IS true there's a crapton games coming to PC which wouldn't ever made it before...Xenoverse, I Cavalieri dello Zodiaco (Saint Seya), One Piece, Naruto... and they're publishing Souls, Witcher, F1... never happened before.

Some preliminary new character brainstorming @_@

- Pairs
Nero & Gene [DMC, God Hand]
Sakuya & Sora [.hack]
Mega Man.exe & Roll.exe [MM Battle Network]
Emilia & Lumia [PSU/Portable]
Bahn & Candy [Fighting Vipers]
Viewtiful Joe & Sexy Silvia [VJ]

Gene would work well in the very least as a solo, as demons always appear in these games - NxC established 5 major world groups: human/"real", Heaven, Hell, Fantasy and a rough dimension of the dead.
Hell tends to feature the likes of Darkstalkers characters and Ghouls'n Ghosts, so tying those to God Hand's demons could work nicely too, especially since the other lean heavily toward Capcom anyway.

I've like more Fighting Vipers in it too, but Jane would be my pick.

Ehhhhh I really hope they focus more on gameplay rather than just throwing dozens of characters in. Maybe make it full on Fire Emblem Awakening clone and I'll give them all my money

Wait why are people being dumb on Sega's roster in PxZ? Outside of Shining Force EXA, Resonance of Fate, and Valkyria Chronicles, it managed to take over Namco's place. Remember when Namco's roster was full of amazing arcade references outside of a few? Sega did it in PxZ. I know most of the peeps here never played arcade games but a lot of Sega's mascot stuff aren't just cutesy animals.

as bad as it can be, i doubt it can be pxz bad :)

Hahah if you think PxZ's battle system is bad, wait til you see NxC. And I disagree on music, the only bad thing there is the instruments, but otherwise they managed to get most of the music fine. The main story is generic is fuck, but what actually makes it great is that it has SRW's seamless crossover story - tying up the plots of other games into each other so well. That personally is something people should see rather than the main plot itself (which is shit even in SRW).

Cyber Sleuth is essentially Digimon Story. Literal grindfest redundant. And I still wonder how you managed to misinterpret the site.

But like I said, it kinda is your fault for playing a fanservice game and expecting something a bit more.

And get a grip? lolwut

Expecting deep gameplay in a fanservice game is... eh.

SRW generally at least bothers giving proper introduction to new series and such. It's cool how it recreates the story progression of some series while throwing in other characters there. PxZ did have some introductory stages later on, but in the beginning of the game most series were just randomly dropped right alongside each other with basically no build up or weight to the encounters.

PxZ multiple worlds/time zone set up also was very messy. They should just have gone with a SRWZ-like set up, where multiple worlds are fused together, rather than making the characters jump and go randomly from one area to the other.

The lack of Phoenix Wright in any character request post saddens me greatily.

The thing is, the game is NxC's sequel so most of the introduction is kinda handwaved for returning characters.

PxZ characters actually fought though. Yes, even Ulala.

I agree completely. PXZ can learn a lot from SRW series in general.

Never finished the first one, but I'm in just for the fan-service.

The good one, I mean, all the awesome characters...not the boobies jiggling everywhere. :p

The gameplay needs to be sorted out. The fact that you had to press the same three button combinations, plus assists and a bonus hit, every encounter really dragged since most normal enemies took 2 or 3 turns to kill. They either need to reduce the number of enemies and their HP, or strip out the button combinations and make the animations skippable.

Some animations never got old, namely the .hack and Reiji / Xiaomu finishes.

I never would've thought the .hack theme could be so hype.

Zonic

Gives all the fucks
Considering sales were MUCH better than what Namco was expecting in the US, we'll probably get a localization announcement much earlier, i.e well before the game is even released in Japan. I imagine the release will be much closer as well.

& also what cj said.

Nintendo should throw in Master & Crazy Hand as hidden bosses. That's right, a fanservice game character in another fanservice game!

From what I've seen, Reiji/Xiaomu appear in both NxC and PxZ. I think they will be back. Heck, going by the opening, they appeared in the first Endless Frontier too (don't know about the second).

They're practically Banpresto's crossover mascots.

About the game coming here...guys, it was discussed in an italian retailer / press conference. Do you doubt it'll be released here? It's not the first time such conferences leak specific announcements, as well as their release lists (Tekken 3DS, Romance Dawn 3DS) even before their official / Japanese announcement.

Ehh I won't get hype. I played the first game until I got mega man and zero (which took like 60 hours), listened to megamans amazing remixed theme for a few hours and just put it down for good. The game just wasn't that great for me.

Fixed to make it more true.

For a duo who basically started out as another expy set of Kyosuke and Excellen, they soon took on a life of their own. So it wasn't really surprising that they and their storyline ended up being continued well after NxC came and went!

Boss Doggie

Yeah they're essentially Namco's characters for crossovers... which is funny when you think about it, despite being expies for SRW OG characters they were Namco-OGs... but then Bandai bought Namco and here we are.

That's more of a flaw in NxC series itself. Hell, at least they're kind enough to let you skip through enemy attacks.
