Fantastic play, thank you. Those pillars Bison uses deal so much chip, I love it.

Justin winning the first SF5 tourney with world class players is one for the books. I'm liking this focus on fundamentals rather than wombo-combos.

This is what happen when the west and the east get the game at the same time.

Its a little hard to imagine since what has been shown of the game is perfectly shippable, but remember that this game is far from finished. That means that if Chun Li's are flopping all over the place, it doesnt mean they wont get fixed. Its probably a bug or the person responsible forgot to rein that in.

Anyways I was a little annoyed at first at the lack of new characters, but after you watch for a while and get into the core changes, it perfectly explains why. Nash, Bison and Birdie are basically new characters at this point. They have allowed the story and/or passage of tme to alter them and become new people with new strenghts and weaknesses. I LOVE that Bison can no longer Psycho Crush whenever he wants and has to save it for his Super. I LOVE that Birie has an eating mechanic, and him being fat absolutely backs that up, further cemented by the fact that he hasnt been around the SF storyline for a long time. I LOVE that Nash is kind of similar but in a fucked up-something has happened to me kind of way, it makes the character more interesting visually, more interesting mechanically. Perfect blend of story, art and gameplay.

Gameplay wise, all the changes make for a far more offensive and distinct game. V Skills all seem to reward counters and instant offense. No KO chip damage forces you to take risks. The super bars filling up quickly encourage you to use them constantly and go for big damage often. The speed of the game itself seems faster and the moves are causing more damage,w hcih I love.

Last, the V skills will make the similar characters feel way more different, all the shotos will feel very different from each other now, which Im really looking forward to.

And of course, the game is fucking gorgeous, good shit, Capcom/Dimps.
I adore Bison's new playstyle. He is literally an oppressive dictator, and now he is oppressive in his playstyle as well. Just brutal how he is in corners, some of these champs looked helpless.

For anyone watching the editor's tournament tomorrow morning (10AM Pacific), I'll be in it! It should be easy to tell who I am, as I think I'm the only female in the event. *laughs* In case I'm wrong, I'll be the one with long curly red hair.

I'll probably lose badly, but still!

Awesome, will be cheering for you.

Use Birdie and abuse his buttons and no need for real combos just harass your opponent with his amazing footsies game.

I'm on team #RemoveTheJiggle
Leave that shit for pathetic games Team Ninja makes.

On topic: I love watching all this footage of SFV. Hopefully we'll have new character reveals by EVO and the beta will include them. Can't wait to get my hands on the game and get a feel for the new mechanics.

No fun allowed.

I'm all for having fun but I've never been a fan of exaggerated jiggly boobs. Mai Shiranui from KoF I do like though since her animation usually looks more "natural" as she isn't wearing anything preventing her stuff from bouncing around. Chun's boobs in that VS screen bug just look weird :p

I think it's very realistic. As you can see in the character select they are in outer space where gravity does not restrict jiggle. Very natural.

Chun can clearly hold her own vs Mai Shiranui

nah, i don't think birdie is beginner friendly, footsies isn't simple
stick to ryu, do crouching middle kick > hadoken all day everyday, shoryuken when they jump
i guarantee you'll win at least 1 round

shidoshi is not a complete noob to SF. I think She can do well with the power of Birdie.

Oh, I hadn't noticed they were in space. Touché :p

Also, Capcom has added Jiggle to males before too.

I present:

3rd Strike Dudley's Glorious Package.

Now people will say "But he had no jiggle in SSFIV"

Sadly the previous gen consoles lacked the processing and raw GPU power to produce the jiggle on Dudley's package.

Who are you going to play?

Most likely Nash. I've never been a Nash player, but he's the one I connected with the most in my recent hands-on with the game.

My problem is I easily crack under pressure, because I've never played fighting games on a super serious level for most of my life. And I also worry about getting used to an unfamiliar joystick. But, I'll still try my best!

Rufus' fat jiggles quite well...so SF4 could have handled his dong.

Thought you were a 20-yr vet (sorry if that ages you) - I remember you on the old SNK mailing lists of the mid-90s.

as for the boob jiggle- make it a toggle.

Hope you do well tomorrow!

I was on there! *laughs* I've always loved fighting games, but I had a problem of a long time of not "getting" some of the fundimentals you need to do more than just goof around in them. Plus, I tried to play as many fighters as possible, when I should have been concentrating on a few keys ones to actually learn properly.

I don't think I have what it takes to ever be pro level, but I have really switched my focus in later years to trying to actually improve my core skills and focus on certain games and characters. Another problem, though, is I have to play so many different things for work, it's hard to ever truly dedicate a decent amount of time to practice. I was trying to do that with Super SFIV, but I put it aside just when I was getting better to concentrate on other things.

So, I can do okay casually, but it's easy for me to get intimidated when I'm up against someone with skill, and I tend to fall apart at that point. My hope tomorrow is that, given we're all so new to SFV, that will at least balance out the playing field a bit. *heh*

holy shit... I never noticed that jiggle

First time I saw it was early 2000s. I was shocked at first and questioned why I was so mesmerised.

Someone hand drew that jiggle frame by frame making sure it was simply perfect.

I just respect the hard work that goes into a good jiggle. One day mankind will look back at our era of gaming and ask the question...

"Why did they not #SaveTheJiggle"

Biggest tip I can give you is believe in yourself. Don't have doubtful thoughts or build up an image of your opponent being some god. Just go into have a basic gameplan at first and start adjusting as you pick up on how your opponent is playing also funny enough remember to take small break if you lose a game to think about what went wrong and how you can fix it.

"Hmm I lost that game because I was DPing too much I should block more and now that he expects me to DP like crazy I should be able to land more throws since they will be waiting for me to DP" etc etc

Just simple things to force yourself to not fall into "autopilot" you'd be shocked how many people you can beat off that alone.

Best of luck. <3

No official word yet, but Ken Bogard (famous french commentator) keeps saying it's after 4 but before 3, and deals with Shadaloo fall. The guy clearly knows a lot of things about the game and has been a trusted source for months now. Just yesterday he hinted again some information.

What did he hint?

:O

Just watched the tournament.

JWong was so ahead of everyone jesus. I'm loving what I'm seeing of Bipson in this game. Xian made me really interested in Nash too. Sucks there weren't much Chun action, though.

Basically what is already known: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=143302117#post143302117
-after SF4, before SF3
-16 characters launch roster
-4 new characters
-efforts will be made to make a good and consistent story mode

He elaborated on the last point saying Birdie should be one of the last Shadaloo member present with Dictator and that the roster should be consistent with the story/timeline, so no SF4 situation where Gen, Sakura, Makoto, Ibuki etc made no sense.
Of course everything should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Of course everything should be taken with a pinch of salt, he was not flat-out saying it and was somehat beating around the bush, but the guy clearly knows the roster or at least most of it.

Honestly I believe him. He was the one to talk about V-Trigger etc etc way way way before we got footage of it.

Thanks for sharing dude.

Yeah, there's a good video here that explains the timeline (and thus how Ken's known this stuff so far in advance- he has a merchandising connection) - Vid Link
The guy thinks Alex is 100% in due to his model being altered (makes sense) and that Oro is likely in simply because they actually approved an Oro statue. Which actually does make sense- especially since V-Trigger for him is easy- 2 arms!

you aren't alone. the first footage looked awful and it felt like they just made Ultra Street Fighter 4: V Edition.

This game is now something completely different and is going to make the FGC huge again.
