The free tablet is bottom of the barrel no name 7" with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC, but it might make an amusing Android tablet with Android X86 OS swap.
Miix 700, however, is one of my fav 12" art tablets. And $500 is cheapest you'll find for it. For $500, you are still getting that super bright and vivid 2160x1440 IPS display, sublime Wacom AES 1 gram initial insertion force pen, and that swanky even better than SP3/4 kick stand with Core M and SATA III SSD. And if 64GB seems too low, do not fret. It's pretty easy to swap the M.2 storage module in the Miix 700! I've swapped my personal Miix 700's 128GB with 256GB M.2 already.
Some caveats:
1.The free keyboard is not as good as SP3 or SP4's. It's passable. But it's free so there's that.
2. Pen is not included. Get the new
Wacom Bamboo AES pen for $40. It's now my favorite AES pen.
3. There may be some very annoying sticker right on the edge of the screen you have to remove. Lots of alcohol and elbow grease required to get all the residue off.
4. DO NOT buy the more expensive options of Miix 700 at newegg. The Core M5 version comes with eMMC for some wacky reason, and the Core M7 version is $100 more expensive than the
Costco.com sale for $800 (plus the Win 10 Pro and Office 365 sub).
Otherwise, this is the cheapest deal for the best low cost Wacom AES Windows tablet.
EDIT: The free 7" tablet deal I think is for Father's day weekend only.
