I'd argue that the supreme offices for law enforcement investigating the possible ties between Russia and the POTUS' campaign is already monumental news.

It basically takes the conversation from Reddit thread to the mainstream. No ifs, no buts. There's an investigation to determine if people in Trump's campaign colluded with Russian intelligence that could result in accusations of sedition or worse.

For two reasons. One it's the only possible deflection and two it's literally all they can talk about. They've got to say something while Comey is there, and they can't just ask him about the weather (although it might get to that).

That was the point for sure. Which is probably why he made the whole we don't ever really do this but the people deserve to know.

Guys, Comey confirming an FBI investigation is the biggest thing you could possibly expect out of this hearing. Trump has been dismissing all of this as "fake news" based on unsourced reporting since the jump. Comey put it on the record. Anything more is going to be too classified to discuss here.

Also the GOP focus on leakers is just kind of embarrassing when we're talking about possible treason at the very highest level of government.

What do you guys think is a realistic timeline for the FBI investigation to conclude? Months? Years? Or is it too variable to have any clue? There is just so much circumstantial evidence in the public space I have a hard time seeing it's all just a coincidence.

Lol seeing republicans mad about leaks is funny considering they didn't give a crap when all Hillary's and DNC leaks happened durung the election

The irony of Rooney's words regarding "sacred trust" and his insistence on punishment for violating it.... He's focusing exclusively on the leaks, where as everyone is watching to see how our elected official colluded with a foreign power in exchange for assistance to get elected.

The press similarly has no leg to stand on if they try to make this about leaks, as they gleefully reported on the details of the DNC leaks as facts.
