In all fairness, they tend to be loud and post a lot in the threads they appear in, creating the image that there's way more of them then their actually are.
They get shut down fast (even faster in OT), and often get banned just as quickly. I appreciate that much compared to other places.

Man, this video game culture is fucking terrible these days. Is there a huge segment of audiophiles that just shit on minorities and go after some asshole who reviews this stuff because of a bad score he gave something? Like, is there an auduiphilegate?
Every week there is a story like this. The video game weekly news cycle is literally someone gave a terrible review, people attack that reviewer, some woman gets attacked because a game is terrible, and some youtuber says something stupid. Hopefully a decent game releases somewhere between all of the bullshit. I personally feel like we get more bullshit than we get good games these days, but a lot of that is just me getting old and bitching more.

I kinda feel that JonTron is not the sharpest tool in the shed. If you make light and funny videos about games and your income depends on those videos why on earth would you share that kind of racist and sexist opinions public? That's one way to piss off lots of people who watched his videos (me included).
And I think Playtonic did the right thing here. I would've bought the game either way but I totally get why they don't want to be associated with JonTron after all this.

Youtubers manage themselves, save the occasional guidance from an MCN they don't filter what they want to say and what they can't say throught an outside party. It's all straight from the mouth without the though of consequence because their mind frame is still "I'm small time compared to all those other guys and all those other problems, I can say what I want without scrutiny".
The thing is that "humbleness" (which sometimes is genuine) often blinds them from the possibility that people will blow back to what they say, that people will listen, that people will talk it up, report on it. They can't separate the persona from the person anymore. They lost that by being an influencer. By no longer being small time.
They made it very clear that they weren't exactly the sharpest spoons in the drawer.
