Yipes is a fighting game player famous for his presence in MvC2 tournaments, not just for his skills but his smacktalk. He's apparently known about the game for awhile, based on teases he made prior to release.
Pandering to casuals and dumbing down gameplay mechanics is the absolute worse thing you can possibly do for a fighting or any game not intended for it really.
I can say this right now: DP inputs are gone. Ryus Shoryuken is done with a down, down motion.

If DP's are eliminated, then I see no reason why reverse DP's wouldn't be.
I'm having a real issue imagining how Strider will play. His teleports are reverse DP and Gram is a DP motion. How the hell is he going to retain his moveset with limited motions?
Even Smash had DP inputs for Ryu. SMASH.
Keep in mind UMvC3 didn't do so well mostly due to casuals not rebuying an updated version of the same game. You gotta get their sales with one game this time.
