Might be the surprise of the season for me. Didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. A lot of things went above my expectations. Also,

Black hair and twintails you say? That sounds awfully familiar to...

Doesn't help they're voiced by the same person :lol

I watched it. I enjoyed it.

I have to thank Anime-GAF and these series-specific topics. As a result of them, I've started actually watching stuff again for the first time in ages :p

This show is surprisingly awesome. Fall season is turning out pretty good.

Seriously, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Iron Man, this, and Index 2 makes it one of the strongest ones in a while.

They are all ten levels of awesome.

Guys, guys. Lets just admit that Index 2 and Railgun 2 will probably both be shit.

The important thing is which one will be LESS shit than the other. That is clearly Index 2.

Just a repost:

The show is basically what I thought it would be. I'm assuming the climax of the series will be that he gets caught with all the sister porn and the girl has to decide whether or not to "save" him from being ostracized by his family/friends. Yay anime!

Suffice to say Ayana Taketatsu is going to be getting a lot of work after K-On. 8 roles this season.

On to the episode, it was quite fun. It feels like AIC has been doing pretty well recently at least from the shows I've been watching from them. The production was solid although there wasn't much animation going on this episode. The colours are very nice. The dialogue was amusing. The characters seem fun, even the parents (the mother :lol).

Kyousuke is totally Tomoya.

Oh God, I just watched the episode and it's SO FUCK'N CREEPY, but totally not in an incest way. This chick has this fantastic cognitive dissonance with her hobby. Either way, totally hilarious, will watch again.

Then again, for all the shit the older brother puts up with, I'm wondering what his angle is. Getting to know his little sister better? Being the 'nice guy'? or is he just a submissive little twat? Or MAYBE he's got a siscon himself D:

Perhaps he feels guilty about all those years he was distant with his little sister, and now that he's found something that can serve as a way for them to connect with each other, he sees it as his chance to do right as the older brother.

He ain't no siscon though.

Oh boy, another Icecream thead.

Serious question assuming you're not just another joke account. Are you a 16 year old kid caught up in an anime phase, or a guy in his 30's who has a fatal obsession with jailbait 2d girls?

Heh... that's almost too bad. I've seen plenty of ADV tropes deconstructed proper, but the siscon has always been an issue that's been kind of dropped as soon as it's identified proper by the cast...

Anyway, I don't really think it's guilt either, because I didn't really get the impression he felt that it was his fault that he was distant with his sister. I'll need to watch more to get a proper idea on the motive beyond "she's my sister", but I get the feeling that he does want a closer sibling relationship with his younger sister, more through just the frustration of her keeping him at arm's length for so long.

Oh God, I can't believe I'm having a conversation about this sort of thing with icecream D:

I fail to understand the logic of posters who go into "icecream" threads and do this. They know it's icecream and yet they still feel the urge to click and make a useless post of I should've known blah blah blah icecream.

And for someone who's username is derived from viewtiful I am disappoint.

Wow, so it's exactly like the set up of that other anime show about a guy who has to protect an otaku girl? :lol

There are a few indications of him wanting to bond with his sister like the morning breakfast conversation. But whether he wants to hang out with his sister because of that reason remains to be seen.

I have not read the original source material.

Nogizaka Haruka? I tried watching an episode of that a week ago but it felt so bland.

Well, yeah, but so far it's been a bit tricky to read him. I figure him wanting to be a bit closer to his sister would make sense, but he also seems to resent her for overshadowing him, like he wants her to be on his level. I don't think he's ready to deal with this sort of thing and is just kind of going along with it.

Yep, that's it. I was going off of Wikipedia's list of shows about nerds back when I first watched Genshiken.

Just watched it. So she goes from barely talking to her brother to getting him to review porn games? :lol

I honestly think there's a lot of wish fulfillment going on here, but not in the traditional sense. Sure, a lot of people will see it as some incest fantasy, but I see it as a way for siblings to get closer. I've said maybe 5 sentences to my little sister in the last 3 years and I totally wish I could stumble upon some crazy hobby of hers to bring us closer. The "cute sister that loves her older brother" trope really is pretty damn rare in real life.

Watched episode 1, was better than I was expecting. I'll probably enjoy it, but then again I loved KissxSis too ;p

Do couples in japan not sleep together?

I find it weird that the parents are shown in different futon. It's not like the audience for this is innocent and chaste.

I thought that was weird too. I was thinking that maybe it was to show something about the parents' relationship for the series, since the whole reason Kirino has to continue keeping it a secret is how the kids think their parents would never understand about her hobby. ^^

It was fairly bland. The first episode really didn't attempt to do anything more then outline the plot in a very traditional way, through a lengthy (and given the relationship of the characters,) implausible exposition scene.

I suppose the concept is supposed to be funny in it self, but the show never really explains it more than "they're cute". It's not like the direction or the dialogue made things funny either.

Does it actually get a little interesting? A friend of mine said it was alright so I decided to look into it but the overall package was so uninteresting (the visuals did not help). If it doesn't get better then are the light novels being badly adapted (this must have some popularity for it to get a couple seasons of anime) or are the equally bland?

I just took it as another one of those 'anime reference show' during the time when it was all the rage. It was a nice distraction, but outside of going 'lol it's Shana/Dengeki Moeh/(insert reference)' I didn't really get much from the actual plot itself. It was pretty much your typical guy-and-girl story.

A nice distraction, but not when there are better things to watch.

I thoroughly enjoyed this.

This adaption, so far, gets the zoku stamp of approval!

EDIT: Huh, for some reason, don't remember an OP.

Hmm, I'm conflicted. On the one hand I thought the characters looked cute and I guess the story could be amusing if they know where to go with it but on the other hand I did feel like a total creep at times. Sure, there's nothing really 'wrong' going on but there's certainly some pandering in there.

Still, I'll give it a few more chances to convince me. Heck, I thought Koi Kaze was a solidly written show and that one went all the way and made no judgment or apology about it.

Jex

I would have preferred it to be creepy. If it had actually tried to tackle, with some ingenuity, the whole "little sister/brother thing" then I would have given the show some credit.

Well, it's more about how society looks at otaku rather than brother/sister relationships. The fact that she likes those things is really to make her seem really otaku-ish (and be funny, given her status.)

EDIT: Also about Kirino seeking more people like herself, since she has no one to relate to, which is kinda sad.
