WaPo: Kushner wanted secret communications channel with Kremlin

In a way though this takes away from the public hearings.

Can you imagine how much better it would be catching Kushner in a web of lies on live television as a senator verbally entraps him?

You'd get his expression of "oh wow I'm fucked" in real time!!!

Kushner, Trump etc. It's so strange I think these people have been drinking their own kool-aid for so long they think they are untouchable sinister geniuses. To a lesser extent, so does Vlad.

The FBI buggers kids like Carter Page and Kushner for breakfast. They're about to realise they were never the smartest people in the room.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Ok so fox news is running this.

We about to see the cards drop I think.

Trump will resign by the end of the year. Calling it.

He'll fight this until forcibly removed or sent to prison. He only ever backs away from a problem by throwing money at it, that won't work here. He has no sense of personal responsibility or respect for the office. He also has no plan for any action he has ever taken in his life and his entire career is lined with proof of it. He survives only by threats, wealth, and poor excuses.

Could get ugly and personal though as a completely unhinged man riling up his cult would. It'll backfire though, his Twitter ramblings and stump bluster won't carry the same weight as in the campaign once the real crazy desperation begins. The key will be Republican leaders and whether they die on this hill or finally turn a corner. Some may remove themselves from office to avoid the rising tide even.

As Chaffetz did. Hopefully the first of many.

No, you're correct. He's been released and gone back to real estate. Still, doesn't change the fact Kushner's dad is someone willing to do some really shady shit that justifies jail time and there's no evidence that Kushner is a saint compared to him.

yeah, no worries. I was just looking for clarity on that point.

We're fucked guys. I do this thing where I have to check the local news article on this stuff, I live in Utah. Well it's ALL wapo fake news liberal gate. This is normal and he is trying to beat isis etc etc.

They see nothing wrong expect the wapo trying to take down the great leader.

I'm surprised that ivanka hasn't been caught up in all this yet.
I searched her book for inspiring quotes on coping when your husband goes down for a fivetoten stretch but couldn't find anything. I think the idea he may end up in jail is out beyond her worst nightmare.

Again, I watch as nothing much will happen out this. I'm running out of popcorn.

Can't wait for Ivanka to be single though. Oh wait, her dad will marry her.

damn kushner's got a great pr team. even reppin' him here!

Me? A Trump supporter? Go pull up every single post of mine related to Trump and show me supporting Trump. My only argument is with Republicans in power have shown an outright refusal to support a full investigation of these actions. This refusal means not one of these alleged traitors to democracy go to jail or face any meaningful sanctions.

As someone that lived through the GOAT Obama's era this whole thing is laughably sad. I remember being proud of the President. This person in office makes me cringe every time he's in the news. Every other day there's some form of corrupt action being revealed by this current administration and we haven't hit six months yet.

All that Corrupt Hillary talk came back in the form of mosquito that is biting every last affiliate of Trump right in the tuchas.

*EDIT*

Trump probably takes the NFL head coach stance on firing assistants. Sure you can get him to fire a defensive line coach if it's serious but firing his defensive coordinator three weeks into the season with their defense looking top notch, in this case Kushner's successful business dealings, is a hard sell. Trump does not care about perception and will more than likely keep Kushner on in his current role and maybe jettison him if the situation gets worse.

When did woolsey arrive and leave transition?

He has form on calling out misbehavior - he told the press he saw Flynn illegally making a deal with turkey.

Edit:
He left January 6th.
Probably after thinking about how awful it was over the Christmas New Years break.

After he left:
A source close to Woolsey told NBC News the former CIA chief felt increasingly uncomfortable with the Trump transition's decision-making on matters of intelligence,

Also worth noting that it broke a few months ago that Betsy DeVos's brother, who was the founder of Blackwater, was also trying to start a secret channel to the Kremlin, though I'm not sure what became of that since I don't recall much follow up. That very well could be related, he may have been doing this on behalf of, or in conjuncture, with Kushner. No way that's a coincidence

Oh fuck yes I like this news even better. Get DeVos OUTTA THERE

Not belittling the rest of this: it's huge but also they're already boned at this point.

Some crazy outcomes this can have

1) Trump resigns thinking that he would get off free (lol) gets arrested or his businesses are frozen

2) Trump is guilty and straight up refuses to leave the White House telling everyone it's fake news and it's time to start fighting

I can't see a scenario that Trump would ever admit that he was caught. Can you imagine how he will look after all the "it's a witch hunt" "there is no Russia collision" etc.

I'd put my money on 2 to be honest. If it was anyone else I'd say that's crazy. I think Trump is that delusional though. He'd probably start calling on his crazies to come to DC and defend their glorious leader. Sadly there are plenty that would probably come too.

We can't put Kushner in jail, if we do...who will bring peace to the middle east?!?

Kushner may go to jail, but his superhero alter-ego "The Kush" will live on to defend the Middle East from terrorists.

The life of the rich and powerful. When they are not fucking each other's wives, they are fucking their country or business partners over.

The thing that gets me about this shitshow is that all of those crazy, insane conspiracy theories and detached circumstancial info floating around during the transisition was almost too unbelievable...then one by one, they've shown to be the reality. Steele Dossier might as well be a script by this point.
The press has had to make a big show of discounting the unverified dossier but I don't know why anybody else has to. Steele is credible, most of Steel's sources for his information are considered credible, and the story behind how we ended up getting it lends even more credence. Its more than deranged musings, as becomes evident with each new batch of revelations.

I think the story is true but this is shitty discrimination of 19th century proportions. "Raised from criminal stock" Please.
The idea that he might have been raised to see some amoral actions as acceptable isn't relying upon genetics. Look at Trump and who helped to shape his warped but effective (for him) world view. I don't know Kushner from Adam, but then again, how many people do? Talk about the most unvetted person in the administration with the most seats at the most tables.

"Those who understand strategy are sitting in awe of Trump the Master right now."
Gotta admit, the statement rings true even when taken in the complete opposite sense of how it was intended.

Those who understand strategy sit in awe of that kind of thing ;p

Kislyak reportedly was taken aback by the suggestion of allowing an American to use Russian communications gear at its embassy or consulate — a proposal that would have carried security risks for Moscow as well as the Trump team.

Best part of the article. "Kush, comrade, baby, I know you want to move in but this is all going a bit too fast for me."

I just want one thing. To see, or someone to capture, the moment where Trump irreversibly cracks and knows the game is up.

So are we all in agreement that most of this is the IC/press forming a Dangerous Alliance to take down our administration or nah

This thread prompted me to re-examine the earlier WaPo article about Erik Prince from April. As some in here have speculated, it seems plausible that he visited the Seychelles Islands to establish this back channel that Kushner wanted. But this post from that earlier thread seems interesting to me:

FYI, the alleged server that was communicating with Trump Tower to Russia was being conducted by Spectrum Health, located in Grand Rapids.

Guess who's chairman of the board for Spectrum? Dick Devos, Betsy's husband.
Guess which city Trump visited the most on his campaign trail? Grand Rapids.

http://www.salon.com/2017/03/10/trum...-investigated/

Betsy DeVos is Erik Prince's sister, and it's likely that she knew about any shady business her brother conducted for Trump. Why else do you think she got the cabinet position? The Salon article also traces a connection between the DeVoses - or, more accurate, a facility the husband's involved in - and clandestine Russian communications in Michigan.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get some leaks about Dick and Betsy. It'd actually be brilliant strategy on the press and IC's part. She's patently unqualified for the job, to the point where there was bipartisan opposition to her confirmation; the public has reacted negatively even to "normal" stories about her; and she's not family, so Trump isn't that loyal to her. The whole "Russian stooge in charge of your kids' education" angle might be damaging, too.

Sorry if this seems off-topic, but if they pursue the back channel story, I have a feeling Erik Prince's name will come up again. And if he's dragged into it, the DeVoses will be, too.
