I'm sure this has been asked but was this running on the old PS4 or the Pro?
Pro.

It's a huge set piece in a story mission what would you want them to do? Why is that so hard for people to understand? The gameplay presentation had a little more than 8 minutes. From 4:20 onwards it was almost exclusively QTE. And there was a tiny QTE scene before that (and the moves in general were a bit more automated than I expected). That was a lot of QTE.
Again, I'm not saying it looks bad. I still want it, and still think it looks a good game. It's just not something I expected from Insomniac after their other games this gen.
Remember RE4? nobody complained about those QTE's, in fact it was praised that even in cutscenes you have to be on the edge of your seat since if you fuck one of those quick time events up you will die and the game is over, same is probably here.
I rather have those scenes as QTE's instead of watching a cutscene, it totally puts you out of the scene while with a quick time event you need to stay focused all the time.
I actually am struggling to fathom how hysterical people are being about QTEs, they were in scenes where Peter was doing things such as stopping a crane falling down. There is no open, free gameplay to things like that. It's either QTEs or a cutscene.
And yet the rest of the gameplay was pure gameplay but apparently we have a minute at best of QTEs and everyone loses their damn minds.
Am I missing something here?
Except for the swinging around, chasing the helicopter. And the running through the collapsing office if we want to get really specific. The gameplay presentation had a little more than 8 minutes. Like I said earlier, I think Insomniac's biggest sin is their choice of showing this mission as the first chunk of gameplay. I have a really strong feeling it's misleading a lot of people to think that the whole game will be filled with QTEs.
So Mr. Game Designer. Explain how you get those huge set pieces without QTE's? Even God Of War did it and nobody complained...
Uncharted 4, the AC games, iirc, ROTR reduced relegated that to combat only, linear set pieces have long moved past the part where we have QTEs cluttering the screen.
I don't mean to sound rude but if people believe that a few QTE's used in a cinematic segment speak for an entire game then that gives me reason to question their intelligence. This isn't a cinematic adventure like Heavy Rain or Detroit:Become Human, this is Spiderman and we see throughout the entire demo that control was completely in the player's hands until the INTERACTIVE cutscene. So even when the game briefly deprives the player of control, it still has a means of keeping them invested and having a role in what is occurring. The QTE's also made sense contextually. I don't know what more people want? Anyone who has been overly critical about the helicopter segment still hasn't offered up any type of elucidation as to how that scene and feat could've been accomplished otherwise.
This isn't an attack on you btw.
Well, I don't think it's hard to understand. But that's what we got, right?
They chose to show this heavy QTE based section rather than showing a bit of free roam, or more natural combat (without enemies being well placed for a certain move activated by the press of a button).
Welcome to E3.
Yeap, the game looked great (although would prefer combat to feel more weighty) and the incessant nitpicking about QTEs is ridiculous. Personally I want to see free roaming about the city and their quest system there. That's what needs to be fun.The QTEs really didn't bother me at all. There were a lot of setpieces and the presentation was incredible, so I'm completely okay with it. Game looks great.
Yeah. I've seen all presentations and I think this is one of the, if not the, most heavily QTE based presentation in the entire thing.

"You can free roam in the city and webs attach to stuff.
That isn't a QTE, he is web zipping to the sign right as it explodes which triggers that special animation/camera. The player doesn't have to hit that at all.
For instance, if the water tower doesn't explode he would've zipped to the top of it, but since it did it changed the animation so he lands and vaults off.
One user posted a GIF of Spider-Man moving through a building and Stevenson confirmed that despite the absence of a HUD, that is also player controlled. "

Now that most announcements are done, I think this might be my game of show. This was so hot.
It also the one with biggest set piece from what i have seen .
People who complains about QTE in E3 showings are new to E3 stuff.
I mean it's similar to last year God of War, heavily scripted when it sucks you into the cutscene where the enemy jumps out and stuff.
This year they finally showed actual combat stuff.
It's a cycle.
felt really fresh to me. had to look up Mr Negative right after because this is my first time seeing this villain.
I think its a smart choice if they are showing off that this is its own universe. Besides, those major villains showing up are a given. We got to see some Kingpin too
Sorry, I'm not very familiar with some english terms, but what do you mean by "set piece"? It's an honest question. Just so I can tell you if I agree or not. Cause again, I'm not saying it looks bad.
The environment you play in (the construction site with the crane incident etc).
Ah, ok. I think I understand what he meant now. Well, yeah I agree. But I'm not saying the game will be entirely based on QTE, it's just that the presentation heavily relied on that and it's just about what they've shown that I can comment. What I meant is that, coming from Insomniac I would not expect this presentation to rely so much on it.

Anyone know what time are we getting to see the Youtube live demos?

I really liked the first half but the second half with all those QTE's.... If that's representative of the game i'm not sure if i'm getting this. And i was so damn hyped for this as well...
The QTE whining is hilarious, someone actually called this a telltale game lmao
Are you guys serious?
can't stop thinking about this gif
it's so beautiful
A single qte ruins a gameI actually am struggling to fathom how hysterical people are being about QTEs, they were in scenes where Peter was doing things such as stopping a crane falling down. There is no open, free gameplay to things like that. It's either QTEs or a cutscene.
