I have a feeling the comedy in the older anime is much more downplayed, so I'll enjoy this for the comedy and watch the other one for the plot.

I wouldn't say the 1994 anime downplays comedy in favor of a more serious plot; rather, its delivery of its comedy is fairly relaxed compared with the hyperactivity of the 2017 anime. 1994 has a children's storybook tone, without being especially serious.
I'm guessing CR would let Funi do the dubbing given their partnership, right? Also still no word if I'm not mistaken on the Kabaneri dub.
Kind of hope Konosuba sounds just as great given the comedy, lol

good to know. I'm fine with a more relaxed comedy, but I wouldn't want to trade the jokes and giggles for more plot. Clips I've seen definitely still have the silly humor, they just weren't delivered as 'loudly'.

Just one more Haibane Renmei episode to go, and I'd say it's been a great show so far. I particularily like how everything is subdued and not as obnoxiously loud as I've grown accustomed to in more modern series while still having its share of dramatic and cathartic moments.

Yeah it's pretty easy to compromise a website and additional accounts if everything is tied to a single email and you manage to get your hands on that. It's best to try and spread out tied accounts or at least use a base line email address that isn't so obvious/tied directly to your visible domain.

the mc being interested in slimes is the only time he shows any kind of personality, so i was thinking this ep might actually be interesting. but no, the mc has to go 1000% herbivore and non offensive whenever possible so nothing happens.

So Chihiro just carries multiple cans of energy drinks in her purse? Alright... It's probably a game reference or something. Many characters were introduced here. I imagine the ones appearing with accompanying titles will stick around. The first episode was so much stronger than these pushy introductions.

Certainly they've been hit by DDOS attacks before, which is why they moved behind cloudflare.
Who knows why any sites are attacked. Could be simply anime haters targeting well known anime sites. Same reason Crunchyroll gets DDOSed.
Or its simply someone going after Zac and Jacob due to umm gender politics.
I would not be shocked if it was an anime hater that did this extreme level of attack. Not out of the realm of possibility.

I like this show, but I'm curious what people think of the character of Aoi through a modern lens. If you're unaware, let me lay it out for you: it's an anime, it's from the 90's, and she's a trans woman. So immediately you're thinking this probably isn't going to go well, and when she's first introduced, it does seem like she's just going to be a joke character. Basically, haha she's a woman that dresses like a man and acts feminine, bathroom panic ensues. But then after that first episode, the rest of the cast seems to accept her and the fact that she is trans is rarely brought up, although (because this is the 90's) it is an occasional punchline. I just was wondering, given the time period, if she could be considered an early positive LBGTQ character in anime, or if people just consider her portrayal tasteless and crass.

I am guessing you're watching the 1st TV series (of three) of this show and if yes, then I have to say, she is play okay throughout the show with nothing too crazy to say (maybe the creator don't have much to throw at her character in the show). When she shrine is mostly come down to the writer put more effort to develop her characters in the episode which is interesting to watch (one you found out early, she is a former basketball player who have the skill and this skill help Aoi to help solve an incident which trigger another event at the end which end well). They is an episode which might be the better episode between her and one of the male character she meet and how it end make it meaningful at the end. I don't think the creator/writer have anything negative about her and most of the time, she is just there to help develop the story a bit or just need to be there for additional characters. Not hatting it as for some reason, I don't mind it in the 1st season. The other two TV show, her personality change a bit and some of it feel annoying for me as she didn't have this issue in the 1st TV show.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Crunchyroll has had Bang Zoom and the Ocean Group dub some of their other anime, so who knows.
ANN could be wrong though. It is weird though that those are two of the more popular anime from the past year and they never got licensed.
