The Reflection 4

Asking important questions.

This is like blaming Batman for the Joker because Arkham Asylum can't keep him locked in, and the state refuses to put him to death.
Are you questioning whether there would be people who would totally blame the hero for villains escaping again? Sounds like Republicans 101 smear campaign.

Didn't expect Tadatsuru to be the one with the lecture here. Was expecting Guillotine Cutter or someone who died off screen secretly. I will happily take the dulcet tones of Koyasu though, and it deepened the character of someone who was mostly a one-off, I can appreciate that.

I didnt figure the arc to go this way. It seemed to focus far more on the Gaen Faction aspect, and just what the hell Gaen and Oshino Meme are doing. Even Kagenui, Episode, Ononoki, Tadatsuru and seemingly Kaiki are being yanked around by those two.

I was expecting more Hachikuji stuff, but I did like the script flip of the lost snail leading Araragi on his way. A lot of it felt kind of like narrative recap on Bakemonogatari and Araragi's decisions, and a little bit of how far he has come from his self in Kizu.

Owarimonogatari is good story telling. All previous plot lines are now coming together for that big final.
If only other shows would be half so good as Owari in that regard.

The train wreck love pentagon that is Gamers! is so dumb yet so entertaining that I can't stop watching. I dropped New Game S2 quickly in favor of it for my lightweight series to follow this season.

Gamers! would do really well with the Twitch chat crowd if they do another anime marathon in the future.

So was looking through a bunch of newer anime announcements.

Takunomi

The comedy manga's story centers on Michiru Amazuki, a 20-year-old woman who moves to Tokyo for a new job. She moves into Stella House, a share house for women. Her housemates all have widely different jobs and ages, but as long as they have alcohol and delicious food, everything turns out fine.

A household full of alcoholics. I can relate to that.

New Game S2 is not hitting like S1 was.

Seeing her after I saw Owarimonogatari made me see Ouzen as an older, taller and bigger bitch version of Ougi. In other words she's perfect.

Owarimonogatari S2 01

As I was watching this I realized this was sorta a recap but also tying various threads of the story together. Absolutely loved how much planning actually went into where we are in the story now by Gaen.

Im so lost on Monogatari I don't even know what to catch up on.
Kaiki
's implied death
is the last thing I think I remember, im not even sure.

Thats the last scene of Second Season. So

Hana -> Tsuki -> Owari S1 -> Koyomimonogatari -> Owari S2

-------------------------

The most interesting thing Ougi said to me was that every one of Gaen's party was cursed somehow. Kagenui is obviously because she cant touch the ground but I dont know about the others. Maybe Oshino can't stay in one place for more then a set amount of time. Maybe if they break those rules they succumb to the darkness/order or whatever it is.

Can G Gundam get a super over the top collector's too please? I'll take an artbook going over the designs of every Gundam in the show.

Owarimonogatari Season 2, Episode 1:

It has been a rather a long time since the first season of this book was put out though thankfully there is some reminder time dedicated. Granted it does not come with clarity given the mindbending continuity of the series and the ever evolving machinations of the Gean faction which took some horse steroids with this plan. On the other side of the equation the grander nature of things are finally making themselves to be somewhat visible as they are portending towards a final battle and recruitment for soldiers is continuing in earnest. Still not exactly sure where they are going with Kanbaru. Also it would not be Monogatari without feeling the need to take a very heavy shower.

Hey Thoraxes, you gonna do anymore in-depth music analysiseseses posts for a different series at any point in the future? I know it'll be hard to find something on the level of what KyoAni did with Euphonium, but I'd like to see more of your reviews.

There's really nothing else on the level of Sound Euphonium out there in terms of an accurate and detailed animated depiction of musicians (except perhaps Gauche the Cellist in some ways, but that's a very different kind of work). Nodame Cantabile could be an interesting show to look at due to its subject matter though.

Nodame Cantabile is what came to mind.

Some of the scenes in Your Lie in April might also work out, though animation-wise there are a number of "gotta save the budget" moments where you get still pans during background character performances.

But yes, there's nothing really at KyoAni's level. Maybe Ufotable's Unlimited Budget Works production magic can be used towards a music inspired show!

Aria coming via Kickstarter is so weird. But considering I thought seriously about paying 300 plus per volume, I guess it's not too bad.

Although I expect it won't come with any of the features from the original release.

Firehawk, if you want that Aria BD release, this is your chance to make it happen!
Yarp. Really didn't expect them to do this. I wonder if this is how they'll get an eventual Tamayura BD release out...

He should back the highest tier so we can hear him in the dub ;p
lol if only. I'd be the cat though - poinya!!!!!

It reads like it's coming anyhow but KS backers will have a 6 month window for the BDs?
I get the impression that the BDs can only happen if a dub is funded, like Skip Beat. But I have no clue how the R1 anime licensing works these days.

If Aria ends up successful enough, it wouldn't surprise me if they did some sort of Kickstarter for Tamayura as well. There's a pretty big audience overlap with those, I think.
