When a public holiday works in your favour for deliveries being sooner rather than later...

Anyone know how to redeem the bonus course etc. I bought from ShopTo in the UK and there's no code in the box.

Has Fnac broke the street date?

Not sure - I bought mine near République, where all the specialized game shops are. Sometimes Fnac doesn't care for street date, except for Nintendo products where they wait for the actual release.

It's a little game so there is less rivalry between shops than for a big release.

Is everything up and running, such as the servers and Pro patch? I'm trying to wait for GCU, but I may just get it today from a local shop that has it. I'm too hyped.

EDIT: Screw it, I’m on my way. I can answer any questions tonight.

Me too.. its confusing cos some people said the preorder dlc is in the day 1 patch. But thats not a preorder is it?

All the servers are running, the only part i cant access is the pa store content, says the game is not for sale yet.

There was only 1 person online this morning, shuhei yoshida. I guess he really does love this game.

So yeah everything is up

I DO NOT RECOMMEND 60fps mode :(
If you like 30fps runbing animations in a 60fps mode with rarely bad fps and super juddering icons thay give me a headache go ahead lol

Thanks! Do you know if two local players can make custom characters and play online?

I saw a multiplayer mode which is local, but i didnt go into it as i dont have a 2nd player. You can add CPU players but sont think you can go online together

You can make multiple characters for your single player session though

I got my physical copy today but can't even play it yet. PSN is taking an AGE to download the 6gb patch lol.

I've never seen it so bad. It's still saying 3hours left to download 3gbs.

Pausing the download and then resuming it might help. Sometimes downloads went from hours to minutes that way for me.

Tried that, hell I even tried resetting my network. Didn't help.

It's not my net either, I'm getting normal download speeds on my computer (I've a 30Mbit connection).

Mind you PSN has always been blergh for downloads. Can't believe they had the gall to increase the price on PS+. That money certainly isn't going towards making their servers better.

I've not found it bad bar the running animation, which is funny. I wondered why there was a standard mode, but if some people dont like the 60fps mode, I can see why lol

I just don't feel this game. It hate the switch from unique courses to bland open world courses and a stronger online focus.

Just like many racing games and ssx went to shit. Instead of different and unique closed courses a focus on open world, online and multiplayer. From linearnto non-linear.

Shame.

Well shit... guess I'm waiting for reviews before cracking the seal

Yep, this was my reaction when I saw the first trailer. What I wanted was HSG World Invitational plus like 10 new courses and some new characters or something. Like a lot of games lately, they decided to change everything they've been doing in their game for 20 years to increase in game monetization.

Well, what that guy said was my big fear before trying the beta and ultimately I ended up totally convinced that the switch to 'open courses' was worth it.

Some things which justify the open courses:
-The team-based multiplayer mode which is crazy fun and requires people to dash around to holes strategically - it's stupid silly but it's fun as hell
-Being able to play a mishit shot off an adjacent hole just like real golf
-The feeling that you're playing a real course rather than a collection of disconnected holes, again like real golf
-The fact that you can see other people playing the other holes around you, again giving you the feeling that you're out playing a real round

I don't know, it just makes the game feel more like 'golf' to me, and you can warp from green to next tee just like you always did if you want.

Also, the courses in EG were never Mario Golf tier wacky. They were always just like real courses but taken to the extreme of what you could do with landscape and architecture. So I don't see much difference with what I'm seeing here from the courses.

EDIT: If it's a game riddled with microtrans and shit like that I'll be devastated but that really wasn't apparent from the beta.

EDIT 2: Courses in this game:
1. Eagle City - Parkland Course (classic municipal / city style)
2. Alpina Forest - Alpine / Forest Course
3. Kamaloa Beach - Seaside / Resort Course (sounds Hawaiian)
4. Vortex Valley - Desert / Canyon course
5. Imperial Gardens - Gardens / Castle?
6. 20th Anniversary 1 - Green Country Club (Preorder bonus)
7. 20th Anniversary 2 - Balata Golf Course
8. DLC Pack Course 1 (??)
9. DLC Pack Course 2 (??)
10. DLC Pack Course 3 (??)

Ultimately for 60 bucks (40+20 for DLC, probably) you'll get as much or more content as we did in the old games, and that's considering that the courses probably take 3 times as much work for this one. Personally I think it's more than fair.

Yes I'm not concerned about any aspect of the course system. I think the biggest remaining question mark is how they will handle the microtransactions like you said. I just feel like the game could easily just sell golf courses and characters without the need of a secondary currency and what I assume are excessively minor items to purchase.

The 60fps mode isn't to bad actually...generally hits it no problem but sometimes when moving the camera up high to get better views of the hole it can judder. No down sampling through for 1080p users 8(. Also the game needs a sensitivity adjustment slider for camera movement...I can see many getting sickness from it.

I also found t super confusing that i couldnt access fishing or golf carts as i played for over 5 hours. With no mention at all how to access them.

For the golf carts, you have to pass to Rank 2 offline (by beating the 3 first champions ) and then a woman appears in the HOME hub near the golf cart. She then tells you how to win it :
beat a champion with a racing outfit or something like that

As I feared, I don't think they're in. I've been watching a guy stream for a few hours now and there's been no mention of any different shot types.

I guess it makes sense as putting is now 3-click - circle/advanced shot types would still be 2-click.

A damn shame if they're not in the game at all

Wondering if I should cancel my preorder while I still can. Not liking what I'm hearing about microtransactions and dependence on online. I don't care about online features at all - I don't care about interacting with other "golfers" playing the game, etc.

?? What micro transactions? I have not seen any. All shop items are bought with coins you win from playing golf

My copy got shipped yesterday so will have it this morning. Can't wait. Just finish lost legacy in time to get addicted all over again.

Could I impose upon you to see whether the Advanced Swing option is available as an add-on or option? I'm going to be heartbroken if they don't have it in the new game... I hate non-real-time horizontal swing meters!

Do you know yet what the second currency is about?

So far i found gems, coins, and warp tokens.

The warp tokens are used to use warp ooints in turf wars. Wasnt aware they cost tokens to warp but there we go

Coins are for purchasing items in the shop

Gems.. no idea yet. Perhaps those are for special items, but the store is unavailable at this time til release

So the case says 1 Player and 2-50 for Network. There’s definitely local multi, right?

Also wonder if I miss out on preorder bonuses since I bought it without preordering.
