Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Except ratings are not "way down."

I feel like the media should be making a much bigger deal about the lack of help for Puerto Rico.

Re-upping my call for a flag that just has a number instead of a field of stars so that we can easily update it when we add states.

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of all these analog flags. Make it a digital lightboard instead.

it's fine, as chairman of the people's flag committee i've already decided we're replacing the stars with a burger

If it's got mayo on it, I'll become an expat.

I do find it kind of funny that remaking the flag would actually be a major issue and would likely turn many people against the idea.

It's such a stupid and trivial thing, but I just know in the US it would be like the end of the world if we had to reprint our flags to add another star.

Way back in the day, we should have just kept it at 13 stars for the original colonies, and not add more as more states were added. Poor future proofing.

At least they realized early on that also adding stripes for each new state was a bad idea.

A guy that has to beg foreign banks for loans shouldn't be pressing anybody about debt, let alone a territory ravaged by natural disaster...

Trump even spent the last few days hammering home the point that Strange (who is locked in an election fight against former Alabama Supreme Court chief justice Roy Moore) isn’t even all that close to McConnell politically or personally, and that Strange would be “fighting Mitch” in the Senate as an authentic conservative.

Bitch please.

So the FBI released the crime stats for 2016 and violent crime has increased. This is a bit concerning as it also increased in 2015 and this could be signs of a trend happening. The Trump administration is likely going to abuse this info to further their agenda down the road and make matters worst. I might make a thread on it later today after my classes get done to get a discussion going.

Yes, TPM had a short article on it yesterday. The uptick is also due to the south, Midwest and mountain west. The northeast and coasts are unchanged.

Feds: adidas head of sports marketing Jim Gatto, with others, paid high school players to go to adidas schools, then sign with adidas later.

I, for one, am shocked.

So now that G-C has essentially died, how long before the siren emoji, capital letters and dastardly McConnell schemes that "will probably work this time", start up again on Twitter?

Those are necessary. They suck, but they're necessary. When you lose control of all branches of government, part of your penance is having to constantly take threats seriously.

I kinda wonder if G-C was every really alive, you know? Obviously the threat of it was (is?) real and the GOP was pushing for it but it doesn't seem like the bill ever came at all close to actually having the votes to pass.

The fact that they completely halted the bi-partisan work showed that they thought they had a good chance of doing. Come Friday at midnight, when it fails, the GOP is in for a world of hurt.

They happen so often, people are getting immune to them. They're having an opposite effect.

While Twitter was having a heart attack about this bill passing weeks ago, news was coming out that wasn't quite as optimistic about it. Cracks were showing, but PANIC PANIC PANIC PANIC set in, and nobody cared that the bill wasn't really all that healthy.

I think Hatch said something two months ago to the effect that Graham-Cassidy maybe had 15 votes. In reality, I imagine it would come very close on a floor vote because most Republicans would figure it's now or never for repeal, but the only people who are actually stanning for this particular bill are Graham and Cassidy.

Maybe for the GAF peanut gallery, but I think public opposition to G-C has been fairly pronounced.

Did you see those protests yesterday?

imo problem also with G-C is, as said it was never even alive to begin with. It was being thrown at the wall as a last-ditch effort to get repeal and replace checked off. You can't expect people to treat less serious efforts with the same seriousness.
