I feel like she's been trying it with this single since 2005.

You weren't even born yet in 2005.

I hope Leona is using all that pent up anger from the Glassheart delays to deliver a double post reading.

BONUS! Phonomezer and Icicle going at it in 1995.

Let her come.

Because the Christina Shade has gotten out of hand. Christina's career's seen higher highs than where she is now, I'll admit, but now people think that they can come for her using just any old lessor??? No Mam.

Say what you want about Christina's career, but it still shits on Leona's.

Say what you want about Christina's music, but it's still more diverse than Leona's.

Say what you want about Christina's vocals, but they're still more dynamic than Leona's.

Say what you want about Christina's looks, but they're still less equestrian than Leona's.

Coming for Christina Aguilera using Leona ZZZis would be like coming for Miss Britney Spears using Billie Piper.

...Who is Billie Piper again?

Exactly.

If my mother played that song for me while I was in her womb, I would have just gone ahead and miscarried myself
If only Whaley had strangled herself with her own umbilical cord back when she was still in the womb. The world would have been a more beautiful and peaceful place.

I actually think Whaley is a brilliant songwriter, but with all this Demigod shading you had it coming

I almost feel bad for shading Demi because she's such a Kelly stan. It's like some sort of tragic pop devolution.

P.S. Demi snorted coke in my apartment complex once! Stay Strong™

I hope she gets clean

Well show me how Leona Lewis applies her vocals better than Christina in more than just a shrill high note, and I'll gladly retract the claws. You know me, I'm no stranger to admitting Christina's faults.

But I don't see it with Leona Who-is. I just don't. And nobody's shown me otherwise.

I think that for a lot of what you're talking about, it's fairly subjective and I'm not really invested in disagreeing with you on them; whether Christina has a more diverse catalog, is a better entertainer, or whether she has better tone, for instance.

When I was trying to think of current generation pop stars who sing well, I was trying to think of people who from what I knew A) had base natural talent, and B) sang correctly. None of them are perfect; even Whitney and Mariah weren't (this admission is not permissible in future arguments). Personally I think Beyonce sounds a bit shouty / overly brassy on her top belts; Adele can sound throaty live and dodges hilariously low notes, even for her voice type (C5s!), live; Leona suffers a marked change for the negative in her belting tone around F5 and her lower register tends to be breathy and weak (even with its improvements since her X-Factor days); Kelly has absolutely no lower register to speak of and her belts tend to always have that same rough mixed sound to them (which sounds great, but she doesn't have much in the way of variety); Ms Germanotta's high belts sound quite whiny and she simply doesn't have the virtuoso ability that most of the others have. But she does sing correctly, and she's got a lot more power and resonance than she tends to be given credit for. And to be honest, Florence was sort of tossed in last minute and I really haven't listened to her enough. But I hate her vibrato and she's more deserving of the appellation "The Goat" than anyone else. So I'm keeping her on so I can keep the insult in.

I think that Christina has the base level of natural talent - she's got a booming, powerful voice (arguably more powerful than any of the others that I had listed), a great tone, a naturally big range including some limited access to whistle register (though I think that she undeniably forcibly pushed her belting range beyond what her technical ability allowed her to do comfortably or safely), a potentially (though in my opinion, not actually), great sustaining ability, good melismatic potential, etc.

But I think that she also has awful technique, and that's the primary thing keeping her off the list for me. And I think that even if Leona is (perhaps) a less exciting singer or has a less diverse catalog, her technical issues are limited to a somewhat thin belting register (which did seem improved in the more recent performances Leona was linking to, actually) and a weak lower register. On a register-by-register basis, I would give lower register a tie, middle chest to Christina, upper belts to Leona, and head voice to Leona. I think Leona has better (or at least more consistent) breath support, vocal agility, better pitch (particularly live). I would give Christina resonance and volume, but I think that Leona's projection is better.

All of that said, I'm not going to tell you that she necessarily applies them better since I think that you obviously approve of the way that Christina applies her vocals (mistakes duly noted) and disapprove of the way Leona applies hers (regardless of whether they are the result of correct or incorrect technique).

I just saw a trailer for RuPaul's Drag Race, and it dawned on me that I was witnessing a video version of Pop gaf.

It was.... weird.

I agree with everything yo said except the bolded. I actually think poor breath support is part of the reason Leona's lows are so weak (she still falls off notes a LOT), and why her highs can get so shrill (think nervous driver slamming on the accelerator instead of easing on it).

Christina, however, rarely falls off her low notes. And watch that performance of Burlesque I linked too. You can't do choreography like that and still belt that song's finale with poor breath support. It's impossible. That's Broadway-caliber.

We've seen from X-Factor what a once-around the stage does to Leona.

So, i'd insist that Xtina has better breath support and a better lower register because of it, but other than that I agree with you.

= You at the keyboard.

Dat poor breath support.

Dat whiny uncontrolled shrill.

Gerl please, if you're gonna defend The Noise, the last thing you want to do is bring vocals into it.

Best watch out, Leona's Glass Heart album will slay when released this year.
The haters won't know what hit them when "Trouble" blasts the airwaves and the charts. No use trying to enlighten the unbelievers.

Hope you enjoy the crow!

lol so you should go ahead and post your favorite things about Katy, be it her looks or her songs/live performances you like :)

I am in love with Katy Perry, I cannot hide it.

But the avatar was found on a Marine Comic website I frequently look at and I also saw the "Part of Me" video there. <3

After 22 listens to MDNA, only Love Spent and the acoustic version make the keep list. That song is worthy of her. Everything else sounds cheap, forced, and frankly bad. The presence of M.I.A. and StankHoe make sense now.

It's quite telling that only two people here defend this crap. As a HUGE Madonna fan, I'd say I have amazing taste, and expect more from her because of her past greatness. She's either wholly out of touch with what makes a song great, or just stopped caring.

No GIFs on the planet can make the cd better. But please keep up the good fight.

Koodo that link is hilarious. Oldstans are just as hilarious.s

Katy Perry's 'Part Of Me' Film Inspired By Madonna

Her honesty is welcomed when other unscrupulous acts go out of their way to copy the Queen's every move and then turn around and pretend they're being original.

It's what makes the difference between an artist and a con artist.

She didn't credit the obvious to Whitney like that other pig did? lol.

I'm liking Katy MORE AND MORE.
