I think the only one of those I played was losttemple and I do remember enjoying it. I'll have to see if anyone has remade any of those for GO and give them a shot.

Honestly i'm iffy on the dam levels name. I particularly liked club dome as well. Great assault style map. Be warned of the repeating music in part of that stage though. I'm sure losttemple and contra will be made for go, hard to say on others. I'll be honest I can't remember the names of some of the other maps we played all the time on my server. Diesel and nighthawk were great also.

Here is a list of the rotation of my server from 2009.

de_devious
de_piranesi
de_hydroco
de_contra
de_cevo_tuscan
de_losttemple_pro
cs_assault_tactik
de_abbaye_premium
de_beroth_beta
de_vertigo_pro
de_lab
de_kilo2
de_cevo_diesel
de_3rdstreet
de_hermosa
cs_havana
de_tuscan
de_cevo_nighthawk
de_tegea_css_final
de_witness
de_menace_final
de_horseshoe_2009_v1_2

i forgot about 3rd street, that one was awesome too

EDIT: if for whatever reason you wanted to try some new maps out in source here is my clans server 208.146.44.40:27015

So is this game taxing on PC? I have a laptop that plays TF2 fine but idk.
I built my rig over 3 years ago and it runs perfectly with all settings maxed.

Just picked it up for PC and love it from the get go. Any other config settings to take advantage of?

Is there any teamwork and communication between randoms on PSN? I played a hellof a lot of MW2 and only played probably 2 matches where somebody tried helping the team rather than their clan-mates. It was a bit better in BF3, and decent enough on MAG. Any indication of which of these 3 games CS:GO will be closest to in random teamwork terms?

Trying to play the game from Korea on 360. Every time I get dumped into a bot server. I've never played it with real people. Ugh, so frustrating.

I can't even play online with 360 version. Everyone else can move around the map but me. I try to move forward a few feet and I get warped back. Microsoft, Valve, and Hidden Path totally dropped the ball with testing the network code. How the heck was this ever released?

I'm thinking of demanding a refund. The most frustrating purchase ever on the 360.

I'm in agreement, and my frustrations also stem from the fact that this is a fucking stellar game when it works. Which is about 1% of the time for me, and I'm on a connection that plays everything else perfectly.

Yes, it sucks. It isn't just like a small glitch...for me the game is unplayable online against others...which is the entire point of the game. At least I know now others are having problems as well.

I've played Counter-Strike to death on the PC and know most of the standard maps well enough. One of my favorite user made maps is CS_MAX which I see Valve never made offical, but to me it is a freaking great map. Though it would be a great fit for CS:GO.

Hopefully soon they'll say they know there is a problem. $15 isn't going to break me. Just going to play Shadowrun until they fix it.

Oddly enough the other day I saw someone with the LIVE tag Gabe Newell-Valve playing Shadowrun. I didn't know if it was him or a joke account.

Sure about that?

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
Seems like the secret to success in this game has nothing to do with crouching or shooting in bursts. It's learning how to use the AWP.

Wow its really fun when you get a server full of cool people on 360. Played for a solid hour with the same group, and the other team was actually friendly! Starting to get my aim down solid as well. :)

that's impossible. everyone on LIVE is a racist 12 year old. havent you heard?

After a week of playing this game is definitely not like 1.6 at all. Not saying that's a good or a bad thing, just feels like an update to Source more than a compromise between the 2.

Enjoying the game as much as I can but getting really frustrated with the netcode. Playing on 360, and if there's more than three other people in the game I lag out and can't move beyond the spawn area.
That's if I can even get into a game. Half the time the server/map fails to load and I have to restart from the dashboard.

On the plus side to 360 online multiplayer, the custom matches I've played with friends have ran without a hitch.
Need another 8 more maps for competitive mode asap, thanks Valve.

Guys, I'm trying to remember the name of a map, the layout is a bit like this:
- Terrorists start in a house
- CT start next to a tunnel
- The CTS can get to the house trough the sewers or go trough the tunnel and make their way across a field that has a couple of rocks in it and then get to the house
- When you stand in front of the house you can go to the right to go behind the back or just enter throug the front door
- The textures / graphics of the map are desert style, yellow rocks etc (like dust)...
- It's not cs_mansion!!

edit: It's cs_militia!!

militia was so good

Hey quick question! Using a mac and when I invite a friend to a game, it says turn on universal access. It also wont let me shift+tab to see a friend invite me to a game. Any advice?

This reminds me how everyone says you're supposed to crouch and fire in short bursts, yet I watch people run around firing 5 shot bursts with a M4 and still get headshots pretty often. Shit is ridiculous.

Because that's an effective way to play the M4. Its spray pattern is different to that of the AK so you can burst a little longer (with the right recoil compensation via aim) and still have good results.

I've bought a server, details coming in shortly.

If you care to donate, PM me.

Server costs £5.25 for 10 persons.

I've also got a mumble server we can use.

Crouch-Strike:Go... because if your not crouching your shots suck. I literally place my shots behind or facing the player at a distance while taking my time and I still get beat by players who crouch and spray.

I remember in 1.6 you could at least perform short strafes while bursting your gun and still be accurate.

Don't forget if the crouch sprayer is aiming accurately the first shot can be a headshot to you, and the second shot will be there too. Doesn't matter about spraying if the first shots hit home.

Why not just play on a bot server and practice standing/crouching with different weapons to see the effects?

That's awesome! Is it £5.25 per month? How much more would it cost to have 8vs8 or 10vs10?

I still think 10vs 10 is way to chaotic for CS. 8vs8 is the absolute max I think works, 7vs7 is even better. That reminds me, can you turn off the bots on a server. I don't mind them, but sometimes it's nice to play a 2vs2 or so if there aren't enough people for a full game.

Aim is all you need considering the game rewards it in spades as well as good strat numbers don't matter only tactics and time.

Do you guys know how ELO works in this game? Does it come into play in Classic Casual games? Or is ELO just an overall ranking and there is no "matchmaking" so to speak?

Just curious because I'm still at the lowest rank and I am getting absolutely stomped by people who clearly know how to play this game properly.

I disagree. I'm a competitive 1.6 player and I think it feels a lot more like 1.6 than source. It doesn't feel exactly like 1.6 but it doesn't feel anything like source to me.

I also think they did audio better in CS:GO than they did in CS:S. I liked 1.6 audio the best. In CS:GO, you can hear things from too far away, the maximum distance at which you can hear footsteps is a lot further than it was in 1.6 which confuses me sometimes in game.

Did you try this yet?

Those who prefer headphones: Set snd_headphone_pan_exponent and snd_headphone_pan_radial_weight to 2.

Those who prefer speakers: Buy headphones and see above.

Very close to 1.6 in my opinion

Really? This feels a lot like 1.6 to me. I could never get into CS:S because of how it felt but CS:GO feels almost like the real deal.

I am like jekyll and hyde with this game. Sometimes I get into a game and I dominate. My hits are good, shots are registering and I have no issues at all. When I get killed, it's because I got shot straight up.

Other times I get into a game and net_graph looks exactly the same but I feel like my shots aren't registering, I'm getting shot up in battles that take seconds and I check and find I did no damage at all. I don't get it. I'd love to blame the server but I'm not really seeing any issues. Might be choke, I don't think that's on net_graph anymore?

Yeah...I've had similar issues. I dont know about this net_graph command - but I was joining servers with like 35 ping, and getting the drop on people and not getting them down. I'm very lethal with the AK-47, but time and time again it felt like I was behind somehow.

It lasted for about 10minutes before I got my fill of CS GO and went to play some JC2, which I just installed.

Overall, I really like CS GO more than all the other CS. I wish the skins were better though, thats my only major complaint

I heard that it goes up by winning 8 rounds against a team of higher ELO.

But im pretty sure casual doesnt have the ELO system.

At least I'm not the only one. I remember in CS:S that choke was the real culprit behind a lot of those type of issues. Basically packets aren't going through hence that feeling of your actions not registering and opponents jumping all over you. I'm going to have to see if I can tweak the net_graph to see that again. It might just not show on my resolution.
