The Last of Us Demo (GoW:A Exclusive) Discussion Thread

It's pretty awesome how well the characters use the environment depending on what you're doing. I got a runner near a wall and i was bash'n him with a 2x4. On the final blow, instead of his face just hitting the wall and instantly falling, his face hit the wall and then bounced onto it again because I hit him so hard. lol it was pretty awesome.

Also, tossing bricks and bottles is hilarious. I'm actually considering playing this on hard right off the bat.

I know you were sensitive to my post yesterday but why is speculation not allowed? I have no idea what to expect but I just pointed out something that struck me as odd. Posting actual spoilers is a too much but speculation is just that. I mean, how many have guessd certain plot points just after the first reveal? How about for the Last Guardian when everyone assumed
that the catbirddograt would die
? Unless it's a troll spoiler bomb post or if someone calls out a guess as something that actually happens, specualtion should be allowed in a discussion thread.

Speculation has to be reeled in a bit when the game's story has been leaked to the internet. That's when you get people who have read the damn spoilers pretending they are just making guesses. And certainly when you see a junior, that's just a red flag to begin with, but when they make it known they're digging through leaks and haphazardly posting it all over... yeah that person is not allowed to "speculate". Nor are they allowed to make a decision on what is or isn't spoilers for other people. They forfeit the right to decide on spoilers when they read them... obviously they don't care about spoilers, or they like spoilers, so how can they really relate to the person who is trying to avoid them? They can't.

Use tags. Mark spoilers. It's pretty simple. Keep end game shit, even if properly tagged, out of non-spoiler threads. This is common sense stuff.

Sounds like this game has the same sense of gruesome, survival combat as Manhunt. I have been waiting for 7 fucking years for combat like that, and it happens at the end of this console generation? Sheesh.

Naughty dog should of made the last of us instead of Uncharted. Seriously..why did it take so long for my dream game to come out? and it had to come out at the end of this gen? God damn it..

No question, but my comment to the quoted poster was because I remember he was a bit uneasy with my vague speculation which I also noted was probably an oversight and you mentioned it could just be nothing.

But I do agree that actual facts shouldn't be posted. But when the devs and others who've played the game openly reveal that
they cried
doesn't help either. If you're going black, stay out of here, that is all.

First off, you're just assuming things and speculating. You're labelling people who are posting info as if they are out there to spoil things.
"They forfeit the right to decide on spoilers when they read them..." Presumptuous. Most of the stuff I posted aren't story-related at all. You're jumping on a word and basing your opinion of other people based on that. Suddenly I "don't care about spoilers or I like spoilers" just because you said so. If I were that, I would have posted every story-related crap I found out, but you don't see me doing that, do you?

I'm posting info for people who want them, and clearly you do since you read them and complained about one word that somehow spoiled the experience for you. Or, you never read my posts since you say you ignored me yet you jump on me by reading other people's posts. Yes, that didn't come off to me as spoilerish, doesn't mean you can go and label people and say, "oh they're out to spoil everyone!" or "Oh, their motivations are clear since they looked at the files! They don't care about me at all!" Puhlease.

Beat the demo again on hard. This time I only died 3 times, key is to isolate the fully mutated clicker and take it out first. The partially mutated clickers are easy to take down.

Also noticed how the flash light illuminates the rain drops, pretty neat!

Well I decided not to play the demo, even if its short. I feel I already saw way to many trailers and footage. I will just play it now, we are so close after all.

Everyone should. Also its the first game where tossing objects seems to work the way you'd expect.

It's cool to see so many different stategies for that scenario. It just goes to show how much flexibility you have in approaching the rooms. Personally I leave the Clicker alone until the end and pick off the Runners around him.

Fuck the clickers... .There's a piece of paper that shows 4 versions of infected..What's the 4th version? I'm scared.... oh so scared

I know and the AI is very dynamic (at least on hard) they won't stand around the area too long like morons. They will get distracted very quickly and they have a tendency to turn their heads around. You have be very quick!

There was only one clicker that just stood around, you can see it when you drop down from the ledge and go around the corner.

The final section of the demo is impossible to complete without a confrontation, right? You can't possibly stealth kill everyone can you?

I did but the clicker required a bullet =D (was playing on easy to get a feel for the game)

It's possible to complete without any confrontations, and you don't even have to fire a bullet as long as you have a shiv or melee weapon for the Clicker.

I didn't have a shiv at the moment

Ah, I see, bad times. I know I'm going to be a shiv hording whore when the game releases. I hope it shows your stats at the end; I really want to do a playthrough firing as few bullets as possible and tackling as many sections as I can using stealth.

What version is everyone getting? I kind of want the 79$ version, but I have a feeling the art book will be tiny... but I do want all dat dlc.

Could I get the regular edition and the Pass and get all the dlc ever released?

It's supposed to be a full sized hardcover. MSRP is $39.99, so I'm guessing it'll be close to the size of the Hyrule Historia book.

That's my plan too, but I know my curiosity will get the better of me and I'll probably waste all my shivs on picking locked doors.

I have the Survival Edition preordered at Gamestop, and they've got a ton of multiplayer preorder bonuses. I hope the multiplayer isn't terrible.

I hope I didn't just spoil the game for myself.

No fault of the poster though, I clicked on the spoiler tag and then read the posts regarding looking deeper, etc. Someone mentioned that this wasn't the full list, so perhaps it's wrong to overanalyse it.

I know barely anything about this game, but very surprised that there are no plans for a public demo considering that it's a new IP at the end of a generation.

wouldn't that'd be a bit too similar with what we had now. I think siblings could made an interesting main character, make it so you can pick which character you play like Resident Evil so you get the same story told from different perspectives

Husband and Wife would be nice.....but I bet a sequel will follow people you meet during the game....In TLOU2, you will get to play out the story of people Joel and Ellie meet in part 1...meaning you will experience what happened before and after Joel and Ellie met these people in part 1...

Haven't played the demo, but I'm confident I'll like this a lot. Thinking of preordering the digital version from PSN, as I happen to have $ 40 in credit. How does the digital preorder system work? Does it preload like on Steam?
