GTA4 + iCEnhancer mod. Holy mother of god.

i like the default look too. but i installed the version that Sethos uploaded at the top of the last page (100ppp).

I just wish I could learn coding to convert it to work with the final iceHancer Configuration Tool. I sorta hacked it together once but i decided to wipe it all and just use his default setup without vignetting (sorry it makes me feel like I'm claustrophibic and under water or looking through a toilet paper roll hole or something).

Funny think is with my GPU (Nvidia 560) I can play at 2560x1600 with the SMAA, at only a 5-7 FPS loss over 1680x1050. and im sure ill take some screens for y'all soon.

I downgraded to 1.04, installed Ice 2.1 and now whenever I load the game it just sits at the Social club screen showing my social club videos and news and I can't figure out anyway to close it and start the game.

Has anyone else had this issue?

edit: Nvm I had to hit Enter lol.

Just trying it now, daaamn, it's so dark. I don't remember the sky being pitch black in the stock version.

My experience isn't going quite so smooth either. I got it going but it crashes after about 2 minutes of play in the lost and damned. TBoGT doesn't even boot (I'm assuming it wasn't supposed to).

Though a funny side effect has been my performance has actually increased since enabling the mod.

turn off vignetting it will remove the dark corners of the screen to improve visibility

Guys will this run on both of the DLC's also?

I know I have to grab the last version of GTA but can I replace the DLC with that also?

Ehhh nvm thought over heating issues were just on old NVIDIA cards. Not risking my 680 for this lol. Does look very nice though.

Too bad the sky is kinda bland though. No clouds or anything. Maybe I should look for a sky mod or something.

Can someone recommend some icenhancer 2.1 settings? I've been tweaking for a while now and I can't get my nights right. It always seems too dark.

I'm trying to get this to work, but it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference at all. And at night, things are insanely dark, and the headlights of cars don't seem to work at all. (Or they're also just very dark.) Either way, it looks nothing like the screens/videos I've seen.

Anyone care to help me assess the problem? My PC is more than capable of handling this, and I've tried installing this multiple times.

Yes. I had that problem with the origina iCEnhancer 2.1 settings when I first tried it out. Check GTA4-Mods.com. There's a iCEnhancer 2.1 setting download on there that really makes the game look great. And you can actually see at night.

Would you happen to know which setting or what to download?

You might have to wait until I get home from work to send the link. However I remember it being one of the few settings available. It's just all the files that make his settings work. I don't remember what it's called. I'll send you some screens of my game and a link later if you don't find it.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate that. I'm having a tough time figuring out this site, heh.

Here are the visual mods I use:
- Install original iCEnhancer 2.1 then iCEnhancer 2.1-yeahatnet Revision V3.1
- First Person Mod v1.1 - I like the fact this mod doesn't force you to use it. You can still play in third person.
- Better City Textures - I really recommend this too.
- Blood Tweak v1.0
- Bodyguard mod

And here are some mods I'd recommend to help with the realism of the city itself:
- Chikamru Real Traffic - increases traffic density. You will need scripthook for this.
- More Liberty v3 - increases pedestrian density

All of them can be found at GTA4-Mods.com or GTANet.com in the Garage section.

Now I've seen this game modded to look super photorealistic. Not sure what mods are used and stuff but I like how I have it.

I tried all these out. It ended up pretty insanely bright, but at least it did something. Also, for some reason, there was a ton of badly pixelated film grain. Not sure what that was about.

I guess I am trying to look for those super photorealistic mods, personally. I just want to see the best that GTA IV can look, basically. I finally have a machine that would be able to run it, so it'd be sweet to check that out.

Just stumbled across icenhancer's fb page and saw some new shots of the latest beta. They look insane! Too bad seeing it in motion never lives up to static images IMO

This is one of those reasons PC gaming will never die. People keep talking about consoles are killing the PC gaming (it's clearly not). I can't wait to see what people can do with GTAV on PC.

Is this easy to set up for someone who has never played around with mods before?

Copying the files yes, getting it to work can be painful depending on your version of gta. Ini files are easy to alter and there are sites that document what the settings do.

I'd like to know this as well. Also, I have just EFLC without GTA4, how can I downgrade it?

I just installed Icenhancer and the ENB file. But Im getting some messed up Depth of Field. Is there something that needs to be tweaked? Its makes the game unplayable. Also, it doesn't look as good as some of you guys?

There are some patch 7 compatible ENB's/ Icenhancer that are still pretty good IMO but of-course not as good as those for patch 4.

Like this one:
http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/1070-enb-graphic-mod-21c-f10162

I had mixed it with a few other graphical mods ( realism iv or something) and got the game to look pretty damn awesome, just a little worse than any patch 4 ENB's.

I'd like to know this as well. Also, I have just EFLC without GTA4, how can I downgrade it?

EFLC wont work with those ENB's also, you will need ENB's for patch 7 gta iv for it to work with EFLC.

To be fair Microsoft hasn't bothered upgrading GFWL since it launched so things could change with the One. GFWL has always been a horrible, unloved stepchild.

Decided to finally install GTA4 after having it in my Steam library for months. I've been wanting to try iCEnhancer for a long time but just could not be assed downloading 14gb of data.

My question now is: does the game function normally with iCEnhancer installed? ie. do missions, cutscenes, scripting etc all work? Can the game be played from start to finish? I remembered reading a while ago that ENB broke some stuff like that, but could be mistaken.

I have grown to love messing around with ENB configs over the last few years. The obsession started with Skyrim, then Fallout, then Deus Ex the other day, and now GTA4. Getting the game looking just right is almost like a meta game.

The only problem I had run into was having some cutscenes be way too dark to bright, pretty much unwatchable.

For me, modding in vehicle mods and changing the in game cars with there real life counterparts or cars I want was easily one of the best PC gaming moments for me, spent like 10 to 15 hours just doing that.

All I've done is messed with cars. Fuck missions. I want to drive around in a Lamborghini Aventador and take photo shoots.

Just downgraded my Steam install of GTA IV and installed ENB/ICE for the first time.

Initial impressions: meh. Can't see a dramatic visual improvement on the defaults.

Most importantly, all of the in-game settings/options (e.g. when you click start) are invisible and unusable. How can I work around this?

Edit: Nevermind, fixed it (didn't realize they might call this "menu text")
