next series of Mugen-hen quests will be result at 8 member party VS superboss (like Estark)

did you guys have manpower to do it?

I thought the king of calamity wasn't actually Estark, only looked like him? I beat him but relatively late.

Pharao Estark will be the boss of the 9th pyramid tomb though.

The mugen story will be quite long then I'm assuming. The legend story was what, like 20 quests or so?

Kanann

Member
I call him Estark for short
and yeah around 20 quests but I like to go on day 1 otherwise I cannot sleep that night

judging from how pyramid 8 is a piece of cake now our new Pharoh maybe not troublesome

I made a thread about it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=956365

But there's not much info besides the title and the new race. They're focusing on getting 2.4 out first.

Nice, not sure about starting a new character. I'll need to finish up 2.1 story sharpish and get onto all the rest of the quests.

The structure of the story gets strange once you hit 2.1, it's all done through quests which threw me for a loop, but I'm making some progress again.

Wow! How do you keep up with all your characters? I've been chipping away at my guy since 1.0 launch!

just play one by one

I focus gears and progress on main character only
subs are just for some benefit like item keeping and crafting

I started my sub to play the Wii U beta, then kept her for crafting but now I raised her to use weapons and skills I don't have with my main. Still, 2 characters are plenty for me.

Dragon Quest X 3.0

fux my life fux my WiiU internal HDD
Xenoblade X+DQX in almost same day

You'll be double-Xing it in May.

Thought there would have been a promotional trailer for the game along with the release date announcement. Still need to get through a lot of content, I'm stuck at the boss that closes 2.1. Think my health is too low, his minions and him can one shot me pretty easily.

His minions frequently use a skill that boosts tension for all enemies. With high tension they will one shot you at any HP. Bring claw users with gold finger and sages with zero baptism to counter that. And kill off the minions as quickly as possible. It is vital to protect against status afflictions. I think they were curse, blindness and some other I forget.

Maximize offense with an axe warrior and strength buffing magic and have at least two healers, sage and priest preferably.

Thanks for the tip Extralite. Kanann, it's sometimes hard for me to sync up with folks because of time zones so most of the time I'm using AI companions.

me and our team (south-east Asia/UAE) player time zone is 17.00-22.00 JST
what is your time zone?

I'm in Ireland, we're on GMT. I tend to play in the morning time here.

It's cool though, I finally beat that boss with supports, it was all about sages. Just finished up v2.1 content. Is 2.2 structured in the same way, lots of little quests that feed into a big story or is it more like the campaign where there's one story per town?

2.2 focusses on Ann-Lucia and she will now frequently join you in boss battles and show up for cut scenes. Basically in 2.1 she was confined to the castle but by 2.2 Lucienda has come up with tasks for the heroine and her companion (which is your player character) to do together. Lucienda and the other members of the Crown of Sages will teach Ann-Lucia the virtues and associated abilities necessary to defeat Madesagora.

You start by going to the real pyramid which has a nasty boss right at the start of version 2.2 (who's actually strong enough to be an end of version boss but difficulty will even out after that). This will lead to unlocking the Royal Family Tomb, the only place where you can level Ann-Lucia. It's the solo only dungeon where your party consists of one of your monsters, Ann-Lucia and you. You'll also learn the story of the original hero (Ann-Lucia's ancestor) and his original companion there.

Then you will travel to some minor places other than the three recurring locations central to the earlier version's plots, some in the old 5 tribes' regions actually (where you'll meet the other sages again from the version 1 key emblem story lines). Though the regional stories will be advanced a bit also later in 2.2, the main point is mastering Ann-Lucia's above mentioned special abilities.

Very interesting. My usual VPN has been giving me some trouble last few days so I'll wait for that to sort itself out before jumping into the story again. I found some of the quests in 2.1 difficult enough to figure out with my very limited Japanese. YouTube and Wikis steered my straight, hopefully it'll work out for these quests also. Thanks for the info.

I wonder if they're releasing new classes with the expansion.

I'm taking a break from the game right now because I'm out of sub time and I've only played a little bit per week recently. I need to make more time to be able to sit down and continue the story, lol.

Yeah, I need to press on with the story as well. You're right about needing to make time for the game. I find a lot of the story missions require a lot of traveling which can be very time consuming. As for new classes, I'm not sure, would have expected a trailer to accompany the release date announcement, maybe next week.

Version 2.4.5 has two changes that will help you with finishing quests more quickly. The stamp card you can get from the King of Gran Zedora will then indicate which quests are required to start version 3. And there will also be warping added to some quests so you can go right to the currrent destination.

New additions of version 2.4.5, due March 2nd, include:

- 9th tomb of the pyramid opens.

- Fairy outfit preview. Allows to check how combinations of equipment will look on your character before you buy them. You can also change the colors and have the tool make a list of flowers and other materials needed to create the outfit you want.

- The bazaars of the different regions will be unified. Currently you can only buy items put on the bazaar in the same region you're at. Prices vary depending on demand, so in a region where a certain craft has its guild, materials used by that guild will be more expensive. This makes it necessary to travel around to find the best prices. With the update, that will change and every bazaar in the world will have the same goods.

- Difficulty levels for boss fights. There will be both an easy and a hard option added. Get double the exp by choosing hard, or none at all with the easy option.

- The stamp cards handed out by the King of Gran Zedora will indicate which quests need to be cleared until version 3 arrives so you can immediately start with the new story.

- Some quests will be made more convenient, allowing to warp to destination locations and some mobs will be changed.

- The cap for team levels will be raised from 40 to 45. New team uniforms will become available at one of the new higher levels.

- 8 new hair colors.

- Use 10 tickets at once at the lottery.

- New item, convenient watering can that waters all 8 squares of a field at once. Can be obtained for 10 tiny medals. Also, harvest all crops at once and the limit for garden furniture will be raised from 25 to 40 items.

- Manufacturing profession level cap raised from 45 to 50. New special techniques. Easier to switch professions, since you can now obtain profession change tickets for 100 tiny medals.

- New dragon mount decoration items.

- At the accessory store in Verinard you can now exchange 5 of any accessory shard type for a mystery card, which is usually only available at the casino. Also, a storage clerk will be placed in the store for players' convenience.

- New firework garden furnitures. Buy manufacturing profession gear for cheap in South Rendor.

- New event quests, with some series coming to a close.

Warping to quests sounds so nice but with so many other games right now, I can't sit and play DQX at the moment. =(

I finally started Version 2 this week-end. Just got the first butterfly.
The game became even more user-friendly in the 6+ months I haven't played. And I learned the dollboard will gain a significant speed boost today, yeah!

Regarding the expansion, the new story and characters seem okay but I'm underwhelmed by the environments I've seen so far. Looks more of the same again.
No new music either? S-E please, hire another composer. I know Sugiyama is emblematic of the series but the recycling is getting ridiculous.

Btw, is it still impossible to do the Magical Labyrinth solo?

By the way, DQ10 has apparently been approved for localization in China (articles in Chinese):

http://game.163.com/15/0228/20/AJINB1P600314K8H.html
http://finance.ifeng.com/a/20150303/13524886_0.shtml
http://www.gapp.gov.cn/zongshu/serviceContent2.shtml?ID=5807
http://www.gapp.gov.cn/govservice/1981/245358.shtml

Publisher is going to be Shanda (上海数龙科技有限公司), the same company that's currently running the Chinese version of FF14.

Interestingly, the approval list also includes several games for consoles (游戏机, which in this case I believe probably refers to PS4), such as Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, Child of Light, Rayman Legends, and FF10 and 10-2.

You can solo coin bosses, talk to Dorothy in Rendor for that and give her the coin or card you want to use, (and there is the metal maze invitation ticket of course) but normal four floor runs with normal enemies still cannot be done solo.

Kind of defeats the purpose, the maze is a quick fix of multiplayer even when not enough of your friends are online.

Ah ! Forgot about the coins, that will do it.
I just want to do the boss fights alone as I don't like multiplayer.

When's the free time they have? I should probably log in and rotate my monsters and maybe do a quest or two lol.

The other day I put some pot upgrades to my newly bought lv 70 armor with my craft lv 25, C rank secondary character. The next day as I do my daily guild quests as usual the guild master announces me I am now a S rank artisan! lol

16:00-18:00 on weekdays, 13:00-15:00 on weekends, Japan time. But you probably know that now as your post is 5 days old.

That's quite a jump but you could have probably made the inbetween ranks with lesser upgrades a long time ago. The important thing is that the stuff you make is worn by characters other than the crafter. And supposedly the effect is lower if the wearer is another one of your own characters (although in your case it still sufficed for the S rank).

I'm presuming you did 3 high level upgrades, on a high level armor. If the upgrades weren't that high level, maybe the level of the armor itself raised the reputation gain.

Sinople

Member
4 mid-level upgrades (two 2-star pieces of armor), which is really not that much so I was quite surprised. Before that I upgraded the whole weapon + armor set when my main was lv 50, with mid-level upgrades too, and only gained 1 rank (D to C).
The jump of reputation gains from lv 50 to 70 is huge.
