Dragon Quest X |OT| Import Solution Found

Well, level 50 is the 8th level step and 70 is yet 4 above that. You could even reach SS rank at launch already I think when the cap was 50, of course it will become easier with higher levels unlocked.

You're usually supposed to do a lot of lower level craft (whatever you can at your current level) and sell it to the bazaar. If you don't do that the slow progression will be skipped and you have the sudden gains when you arrive at the higher level stuff and actually have someone else use it.

Finally got to do some Kids Time and got my Martial Artist to 85 and brought Super Star up to 60. Used a bunch of my Lottery Tickets too and sold some of the coins to get over 800k. Productive 2 hours or so.

I wonder how improved Staff skills are. playing Dirk in DQH made me want to use a Staff, lol.

Btw, any date announced for new info on Version 3?
The FFXIV expansion is coming 2 months later and there's already a couple of trailers...

They've been trickling small bits of info ever since last summer, when we first heard about the Astortia School. If there will be a trailer or new info soon, it would probably be part of one of the next DQX TV broadcasts on Nico Nico.

Right now they seem to be concentrating on current content. Lemonhart is back until the 17th, the Wisdom Festival starts on the 18th, the last installment of the Mugen/Nightmare story hits on the 19th, for Theatrhythm's launch there will be a collaboration item (there already was one for Bravely Second).

Wooaaaaaah wait a minute. I have been waiting a long time for a localization as I didn't know you could import this and actually play it. Does this work with the Wii U version as well?

We can make Dark Dream hybrid Thai/Dubai/Western player if you want

my team rarely online more than 8 ppl anyway
I'll be playing with my friend, who is in Japan, later today. We'll ask our friends who'll be online then although since I got kicked from the servers so much yesterday it might not be a good idea to go today for me. Because I expect today to be even worse.

You can still add me if you want, my data is in the OP.
yes, I play on both Wii and Wii U version (lazy to install on PC)

but you need VPN for Japanese IP to play it
And a Japanese console of course. For many Western players the PC version is the more accessible choice for that reason.

So if I import it and play with gaffers, will it be possible to play and enjoy the game? Because I don't understand any Japanese.
The story will be lost on you and you'll need to rely on guides a lot I guess. The same as with any RPG you'd import.

Conrats. Unexpectedly, server load was very light for me that day and I didn't get kicked even once.

But me and my friend only went just to check him out, just us two and supports. Of course we couldn't beat him because supports don't run away when a character is targeted with an aoe spell and he dishes out 700~800 with Gigadeen frequently.

Btw, any date announced for new info on Version 3?
They plan to show footage for the dragon tribe and the new area in the next DQX TV broadcast on March 31th.

So how is the story in this and the expansion? The only thing I've seen is the parts I played of the trial and also the trailers they release for updates. It seems quite good. The world seems legit too.

I get the feeling this would be my favorite dragon quest

Version 2 especially has a phenomenal story. Version 1 already was great with its non linear multi regional plots but version 2 is more focussed and really got me hooked, like a single player RPG where you can't stop playing because you want to know what will happen next. Of course, since the story is segmented in version 2 we had to wait for big updates after cliffhangers and I guess version 3 will be the same. But as of now, the main story of version 2 is concluded.

It's good, I love the main stories/side stories of DQX a lot

I was wondering what classes they could still add. I'm glad there's still more coming.
I hope sword dance is in and at least half as powerful as it is in DQ7.

Missed it, anything interesting?

They didn't show anything story related or even the new maps, because there will be a feature in the April 6th Jump issue with exactly that footage. Otherwise, there was a lot of info but most of it was old stuff getting tweaked. Some new stuff first:

- Master orbs, a new growth system. Once you beat version 1 and reached level 50 you can get a master orb which will gain experience alongside your character.
- Alchemy pot: items you create with it will improve the longer you wait, in real time. You can even get metal maze invitations with it.
- Sugoroku at the casino starts. You can get accessories for completing the board game. For players who might prefer this to coin bosses.
- Furniture catalogue: try out furniture in your house before you even own it and then automatically search for it on the bazaar if it's to your liking.
- The new story will start, just no details on it whatsoever.
- The dancer job was shown but no info yet. She was using a dagger though.

A lot of teasers for stuff that won't arrive with version 3.0 but are expected for versions 3.x.

As for the tweaks:
- Abilities get rebalanced, most of them become stronger.
- Poker rules changed.
- Accessory fusion will be made easier with new systems: Fusion level with random abilities that improve the outcome. Fusion energy, fills up with each fusion to give you a desirable effect guaranteed once they are full.
- Guaranteed broach drop at the pyramid. This will change every week but in one of the nine tombs you will definitely get a broach instead of a hidden treasure. For people with little time, they can ask friends or team members if they know which tomb it is and need only clear that tomb.

Stuff of the "more" variety:
- A new seasonal event (not an updated old one but a completely new one).
- Higher caps for training stamps and monster reincarnation rounds.
- New coin bosses (but they weren't shown yet).
- New flowers and colors.
- New hairstyles, 2 per tribe.
- Kandar joins Torneko and Meena as a random NPC in the magic maze.
- Angel slime hat upgraded, will work until level 59 now.

Thanks for the summary. That's a lot of new things to do.

There's even some stuff I missed. They already put up a summary on the hiroba site:

http://hiroba.dqx.jp/sc/topics/detail/fa3a3c407f82377f55c19c5d403335c7/

I thought usually they wait a few days before posting it after the broadcast but not this time apparently.

I still could list the changes to abilities they showed. Maybe later.

I'm hyped for the dancer job too. My main has taken the dagger skills and I might make it to 150 until the update. Although those dance outfits will look better on my sub and she uses clubs and whips instead. Well, hopefully the dancer can use some weapon Sorina has high weapon skills for.

I'd like to play Dancer and I wouldn't mind swapping over from Martial Artist tbh, lol. I just need to find the time to do it and maybe find a job that has daggers, lol

Jobs usually have three weapons they can use. I guess fan being among them for the dancer should be a no brainer. You could respec your martial artist's claw to fan maybe. I hope the last one will be the whip.

We got two april’s fools today, the first one being the three Puh sisters dressing up as Pussgon. Pussgon is the key emblem boss of the Azran storyline and stole Fuhra’s doll Keki. Now if you selected his strong boss version Awakened Pussgon today you would face these three cute pukulipos instead.

They’re usually doing the various baloon related quests. Puh, Kuh and Ribo renamed themselves to Puh, Suh and Gon (to make the syllables of his name written in Japanese, Pusugon, but lengthened). Rimu joined in on the joke and also wore the same costume.

Ribo wasn’t exactly pleased she had to be Gon. She doesn’t feel like a Gon and she didn’t appreciate losing either. So she’ll try to forget what happened today when her private concierge makes her a nice dinner.

tumblr_nm4wanX0x11scksbco1_1280.jpg

The other april’s fool today was accessible from the second strong encounter menu, the ordeal one. It had its own list item titled !!!!!! and featured Lemonhart and Orangranps. We didn’t actually manage to beat him because he’s tough as nails when he doesn’t do quizzes.

He keeps reviving Orangramps who supports him with heal spells and cheering (raises tension). I heard when he is down to yellow (50 % HP) he even starts to summon more allies.

Is there a list of the quests necessary to get up to the starting point of Version 3? I was under the impression that there was going to be some sort of in-game functionality to indicate which ones needed doing but I can't seem to find it.

I've just wrapped up the Dharma Temple story with quest no. 343.

From the item menu you can access your stamp cards, which you received from the King of Gran Zedora. The required quests are highlighted in some way there. You also need all key emblems and clear version 2.

Cool, have all the key emblems and I've finished up version 2. I'll take a look at the stamp card tonight. Thanks.

Dumb question to ask that's probably been covered, but I might as well: How hard is it to get into this game with a basic understanding of katakana and hiragana?

I've been thinking about starting to play, but I might sit on it until I have some kanji under my belt.

In a broad sense it shouldn't be too much of an issue. There's a lot of guides and video material online. I use guides to do the major story quests and you pick up bits and pieces as you play anyhow. The game has got better at showing you what you need to do as well, which is nice. Many of the people I play with don't read Japanese, someone even roped their mother into playing and she seems to enjoy it regardless. Give the trial a whirl and see how you do. Good luck!

Beginner's question: apologies if answered earlier in this thread.

I've just bought the 3DS version and have got to the bit where there are a ton of Hoimi Slimes just after the Ghouls and have arrived at a locked door but can't open it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Edit: finished offline mode!

I haven't been paying a lot of attention to the news, but I'm going to come back "for 3.0" (even though I'm nowhere near close enough to being able to tackle the new content). According to Amazon Japan, the download for 3.0 becomes possible in an hour and a half. Looking forward to it~

I'm probably gonna wait on playing 3.0 since I'm playing FFXI again. I still have 2's storyline to finish too. I'll just log on on Saturday/Fridays to get stuff done.

Yay!

As an owner of the 3DS version, this is great news.

I hate all of you that are playing this. I want you to know that.

I would import this if it wasn't such a god damn pain. A region free console to play the game on the console (or the PC version... but I'd rather play this on the Wii U). A VPN. Plus you need to do the hassle of supporting an MMO, made even more difficult by the fact you need a japanese account.

I played the trial and I fucking LOVED it. I can tell this game is going to be a masterpiece. A masterpiece I'll never fully get to enjoy.

It's not quite as big of a hassle as it seems. There's a way to pay for a sub with a regular non-JP credit card via Rakuten (to buy Crysta). VPN on PC is quick and easy, and free if you go the Amazon Web Services route. Now, playing on console is more of an issue.

I'm in the same boat as a few others. Only just unlocked the dragon in 2.3. Going have to step it up before I buy 3.0. Does anyone know what the story with the new dragon race is? Is it for new characters only?

Yeah, game is great on the PC, and the setup w/ Amazon Web service thing is pretty slick. Speaking of which that's only free for a year, I need to cancel that since I'm probably not coming back for this update...
