I wonder if there is some hidden quest with them. Because there is at least one other person that matches those qualifiers and he is not marked.

Latest mod I am using lets me cast my own weapon enhancements. You can set your own activation buttons. I made mine holding left bumper, which is the block button for my Fighter, and square for fire, triangle for cold, and O for lightning. It's fun experimenting with fire, ice, and lightning buffs. Fire is good against unarmored goblins but for the armored ones, lightning rocks. The lightning arcs between two metal armored hobgoblins. Great for the saurians standing in water too.

Anyone knows what this icon means?

image.png

I went to the indicated location but all I saw was Sigurd and he has nothing more to say. I already got the mastery skill for Mystic Spearhand so I don't know what to do. There is also 2 other icons like this, one is at the oracle and the other at Volcano Island close to the house where you get Magick Archer (already done too). Anyone knows what this is?

86 hours in and going strong. I beat the dragon in Dragon roost. The Spearhand guy died though.
I think his body can be found in Vernworth's morgue, even if he dies on Battahl.

I lost him during that fight too, dude just disappeared while I was exploring the tower. Later on I found him at his hut in Harve.

Nah, I beat the game legit already, now I add shit to increase the fun of subsequent playthroughs. You do you.

Of course, you do you. But you were giving out advice to a guy who hasn't, and in fact only has a couple of mastered jobs.

And the fact is, if you are cheating your ass off, it devalues the vocation that is basically there to cover the specific need to be able to levitate AND fight in any other style of your choice.

You gotta try True Warfarer. It's amazing. You can set 3 skills for every weapon type/class instead of just 3 skills overall. Which is IMO how the Vocation should of been.

Probably just gonna run pure Sorcerer though. Even if my choices are either spam Bolide/Maelstrom + Spellhold or High Levin + Augural Flare.

I think having a basic skill for the mage on all vocations isn't cheating. It's BS having to switch to one to get seeker coins easier. I also have it to where I can change vocations anytime I want to get into houses that require an archer. I'm not running back to town to change vocations because my archer pawn is too dumb to do it for me, and I think being forced to play a class you don't want just to levitate also sucks. Encumbrance also sucks so I got rid of that even on my first playthrough(one big reason Dark Souls is better than DS is not having item encumbrance). The game is amazing but some of the old school stuff is just annoying.

Just saying, Warfarer exists precisely to cover this because it gives access to levitate regardless of your chosen play style. Add in Trickster's augment to highlight loot and finding Seeker's tokens is pretty easy.

No judgement being made on the utility of using trainers, just even if you don't have the option, you can workaround it easily.

I'm waiting for a patch before trying the game again. I've got a couple of broken quests. I thought about just finishing the game and being done with it, but kind of sucks to just leave parts of the game unfinished.

Broken quests, spoiler tag just in case

1) Mentioned previously about not being able to get the finders token. So Sphinx thing ain't happening and the time limit really sucks. If I keep playing, the quest automatically fails
2) Empress quest with the assassin. Assassin died with dragonsplague. I revived him, but he is supposed to be in the gaol. That's where the mission marker points but for some reason this assassin doesn't want to turn himself in. Dragonsplague was a stupid fucking idea

Opinion after 15h of playing. Solid graphics and fighting mechanic, interesting world and upgrading path tough the story is like from bare mmo but in singleplayer. Terrible narration, main character cant speak like in early 90s, would be great game if they combine it with storytelling like in witcher, but its not. Overhyped title.

You are allowed to fail 1 Sphinx quest, and the reward for that particular one is 100k gold, so its nothing irreplacable.

Being honest where I found mine wasn't where I thought it should be either, because I distinctly recalled getting the one from the top of the tower in Melve first. However I found it by the guide statue in Vernworth...

As to the assassin quest. Yeah, that whole questline is very flaky but you can generally work around it by skipping steps and just hitting the "win"condition. Its like there's a follow up to that where you escort the empress to the Rose chateau that completed locked for me, so after reloading a few times decided to just fuck it and picked her up and ran her directly to the goal and chucked her onto the steps!

Completed fine!

I really wouldn't worry about failing anything other than maister quests. Rewards are usually not significant and the difference between a "good" finish versus a "bad" ending are minimal.

EDIT: Don't sweat Dragonsplague. 99% of the npc's will rerspawn within a few days and those that are left over will end up in the appropriate morgue. Its nowhere near as drastic a fail as you'd think.

Yeah, dragonsplague ain’t shit. I’ve had it twice, wiped out the capital and the checkpoint areas. After 2-3 days of dozing off on a bench, all services/shops were up and running again.

What’s funny is, this first time my pawn got it, was from the Capcom pawn that was the Shpinx parent.

Its Yoko Taro's trollish influence spreading, it exists purely to get a reaction out of the player. And in that regard it works a treat!

That quest in particular seems to be bugged a bit, I still have the quest marker for trying to stop him, with the time limit marker, even though I've already completely finished the questline.
You could try seeing if there is someone else in the gaol, you should be able to advance the quest that way, without spoiling too much.

I just maxed out the daggers you get from the seeker coins. Fucking A are they powerful. Great at locating chests too.
One moment I loved from my playthorugh was finding a pawn walking around with those. Noticed they were beeping, so I grabbed him and used him as a radar until I found the chest.

The amount of “win conditions” for certain quests is kind of incredible.

In the unmoored world I evacuated battahl pretty early not realizing it would interfere with restoring the arborheart for the elves since the dwarf I needed left for the seafloor shrine which discontinued the quest to get the material for the arborheart restoration. I thought maybe I was screwed. Instead I took an elvish speaking pawn back to the elvish king like 3 days in a row, and in the forth day I spoke to him he was like “ok fine, screw the arborheart, we will evacuate.” I noticed the elvish king had a different dialogue every day, which seemed like a hint, and indeed it was.

FYI, I solved one of those "puzzles" as a melee vocation using one of the spell books salamander.

I believe she will accept a forgery. If you can facilitate that through gifts. I could be wrong.

It's a pretty serious weakspot. If you hack at her neck, she goes quick.

Installed a damage numbers mod and it's cool to see which skills are more worth using. I knew that a parry gave you a damage buff, but I had no idea it was this large. So, with my current difficulty (the numbers will be different in vanilla) my normal "Onslaught" attacks with the fighter were doing 255 dmg to goblins, I hit a perfect parry, and my next 2-3 attacks are each 800+! Defnitely worth parrying them since I can't kill them in 1-3 hits like in vanilla. Capcom really needs to work on adding some difficulties to the base game.

I've been doing ng+ and started the sphinx riddles again. Does anyone know what happens if you kill this thing before the 2nd area, what's in that first big chest? I guess I should test this out myself, go rest at an inn and find out.

Finally got my mage/sorcerer master skills. There's also a couple things I did not do in Vernworth. Like the Saint quest, I forgot to go talk to the doctor once I arrested the nun. I never did quests for Willhelmina. I was looking up a quest for the coral snake guy you rescue because I never found him a job. I didn't realize she would give quests. I never bothered with her much. I didn't want to read any of it, I just know I should be visiting her more than I did.

I'm down to the last 15 or so tokens. I went to the first one I found(for the riddle) and it was not there. So I started going to places I thought I had picked some up during endgame, to see if that might have been it. Somehow a new token appeared in an area that there's no way I missed a token. So as I run around looking for the sound, it's on a little dock northwest of Harve I think, There were two tokens, the seeker and the finder stacked on top of one another. It's a place I had been to several times, and it's right near the road. THERE'S NO FUCKING WAY I MISSED THIS TOKEN, MISTER VIDEOGAME.

Ok, so I downloaded a skill swapper mod. I can now use 8 skills per vocation. I haven't unlocked the Wayfarer yet, but I'll get this one as soon as I do.

Thank God for the custom difficulty mod. I've played like 60 hours with it from the get go so far and I'm still getting my ass handed to me from time to time.

I put exp and DCP gain to half of the default and progression has felt pretty satisfying and natural. You can't easily switch vocations though, so may be leaving the default DCP gain is the better option.

It's crazy how they fucked up the balance so hard when tweaking a couple values makes all the difference

Will play it for the first time this weekend. What class should I start with, considering I usually prefer the most tactical classes in RPGs, the ones with buffs and debuffs (like the netrunner of Cyberpunk or the cleric in most RPGs), but for Souls games, I like melee combat with swords and shield.

DD seems more like Souls, so I'm considering the fighter or the thief, but I've read comments about thief being too OP. I want challenge.

Got bad news for you, game's quite easy unless you aren on PC, in which case you should look for the Custom Difficulty mod.

If you are on console, play Fighter. You won't deal tons of damage as the class is meant to be the tank of the party, but imo is very fun to play.

There is some challenge if you are not familiar with the franchise. I've watched plenty of streams where people are struggling and dying repeatedly. But if you minmax, always hire fresh pawns, play the thief, etc, you may find it too easy within 5-10 hours or so. You can always roll with just your main pawn, forgo upgrading armor and weapons to max all the time, and you'll have some challenge.

Ok, if on PC here is how you have a blast on a new fresh playthrough. Besides an encumbrance mod, I suggest a vanilla playthrough for your first time.

1. Custom difficulty-Hard to start and slowly tweak as you gain skills and items. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/195 This one allows SO much customization. From the percentage of damage you take, normal enemies, bosses, pawns, etc. If you can heal when HP is at zero, how easy it is to get staggered for you, pawns, enemies, etc.

2. Roll with just one pawn. Less chatter and I only have her around so that I don't feel too lonely and for the eye candy. No mod, just don't hire any after creating your main.

3. Skillswapper for 8 skills. I play Fighter and my block button(L1) is how I access the second set of skills, it's perfect. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/270

4. Now that I have 8 skills, I upped the difficulty to very hard with some tweaks.

5. Levitate mod where you can set its speed, height, and duration. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/255

6. Eternal ferrystone mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/484 Use ferry stones in structures or caves https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/294

7. Camera tweaks. Zoom out to your preference so that you can see the battle, especially when fighting more than one large creature at once. Also, works great for photomode. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/103?tab=posts

8 No job requirements for armors, play all the fashion Dogma you want. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/51

9. Functional pawns. Your pawns will grant access to your storage and they are your -on the road- vocation specialists! https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/261

10. Clear effect descriptions. From augments to rings, see exactly what everything does. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/314

11. Make looting enemies, chests, and bosses more rewarding. Don't rely on shops for all of your gear, or any of it with Lucky Scavenger mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/347

12. Regeneration mod for you and pawns so that you don't have to rely on a mage or make camp unless you want the food buff. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/134

13. Warp almost anywhere. You can warp to any campfire, town, dungeon, shop, etc. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/304

14. Configurable casting speeds to make a solo caster viable. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/315

15. Pawn survives the brine. For anyone rolling with just one pawn, this is a godsend. When looking for coins, it's almost inevitable for your pawn to fall from a ledge. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/365

16. Fall damage is a little unforgiving(realistic but it sucks) for a fantasy game IMO so here is a fall damage manager. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/178

17: Adjustable lantern for anyone who wants the better enemy variety while also being able to see said enemies. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/201

18: Loss gauge control if you hate having to camp or go to an inn. Less Demon's and more Dark Souls action. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/278

These have all made my second playthrough so fun. Try a couple or all depending on preference.

the OT should've been PAINWORLD.
The endgame is terrible and running around in bathal is pain. The game tumbles down the stairs in the 2nd half - near the end.
That's strange because it's the besy 7/10 game I've probably ever played. It's so fkn good and so bad in all other areas than combat and graphics.

Endgame is terrible because there really isn't an endgame yet. Capcom is gonna release DLC at some point. If they weren't they wouldn't have pushed out a survey.

For someone that has already played yes, I agree with 1 pawn, but you miss out on unique chatter between them.

#17 the better enemy variety, wut? is that specific to this mod maybe?

Near the final act.

more specifically: MA by some elven woman who's married to a dwarf. Warfarer by some drunkard in the hot springs.

Might be! She never kicked me out because I helped his husband before going there.

Look for the husband, should be somewhere near the southern entrance to the island (the one that makes you cross a cave).

I got to that area from a cave to the north west. I walked up to her house, she opened the door, said to fuck off, then went back inside. I didn’t try to open the door. I should go back to see if I can, lol.
