neatYou can customize that.
DIAMOND DOGE?!
/dedA weapon to surpass metal gear...
DIAMOND DOGE?!
Really? I mean obviously it didn't look as good as console MGS games, but I thought that game played better than pretty much most MGS games up to that point. The mission style was different but also not something I felt was "Lesser" than MGS3 or 4.
Peace Walker with budget. I wanted it to be something like MGS3, snake dropped somewhere a knife a silenced 9mm and thats it, survival

Big Boss is about to raise hell: the game. This isn't quite the same as any other MGS, but all of the old MGS stuff is there. It's just that this is also a big new step for the series. And really, why not try to do new things?Peace Walker with budget. I wanted it to be something like MGS3, snake dropped somewhere a knife a silenced 9mm and thats it, survival, not a chopper that gets you out, not a radio that can get you everything you want like this robot you can drive like a bike WTF, not the fulton recovery system you only use to get rid of bodies so you don't have to hide them, feels like GTA with cheats enabled.

You guys do know that you can play without any of those options, hence the word "options"? You don't need to use a buddy, the fulton balloon, reflex, nor many of the new features. They're there for a variety of reasons but there is no evidence that says they must be used in the game.
Used it for toilet paper.
Survivor skills mang.

Wait wait wait. You can collect soldiers in Ground Zeroes even though the Fulton system isn't in? Will they transfer to The Phantom Pain?I hope everyone is collecting their soldiers.
I grabbed all 40 from GZ Mission, plus the POWs and all extra shift change guards, then when I had 1 guard left I tried to trigger alerts and reinforcements and grabbed 5 extra "tougher" guys from that (Typically "reinforcement" guards are more dangerous and they had better stats than regular guards in Peace Walker)
Wait wait wait. You can collect soldiers in Ground Zeroes even though the Fulton system isn't in? Will they transfer to The Phantom Pain?
You can pick them up and chuck them in the helicopter. I severly doubt they'd carry into Phantom Pain. Also in the grander scheme of things 40 isn't that many.Wait wait wait. You can collect soldiers in Ground Zeroes even though the Fulton system isn't in? Will they transfer to The Phantom Pain?
No matter how you slice it, the days where you could find a neat new gadget and start having fun with it immediately are gone.
I don't buy the argument that you can just turn off Reflex Mode and everything is classic Metal Gear again, either. Sure, there's an option in the menu for it, but it's not like there are robust stealth systems waiting for you once you turn it off. You either use Reflex Mode, which reduces the concept of stealth gameplay to a QTE, or you go in with nothing and suffer the shitty instant alert system if you ever put a foot wrong.
From the previews research is completed instantly. So, we can slice it like this: Find a blueprint for a sniper rifle, get it built and dropped off straight away.
This is true, but there was also a display that had the message "Development Time: 0 Minutes".
If memory serves me well, Yong Yea, in one of his videos, said that dropping morale (from not visiting motherbase often enough for example) can increase research time. It was either one of his videos or a "summary" of new info I read on r/metalgearsolid, can't remember exactly.Logic says that the 0 minutes were for the preview only. Doubt you can research anything instantly.
They had to show off their features in a reasonable amount of time for the press.

The whole reason they have microtransactions was specifically to speed up dev time for people who don't have time to grind and wait it out
Like they were very specific about that
No, the reason they have microtransactions is to squeeze money out of less patient people who don't want to put up with obnoxiously long R&D times. If they really cared about peoples' time, they'd have free cheats or something. Or better yet, there'd be absolutely no need to pay to speed something up because that gameplay mechanic would not be shitty enough to be a waste of time and necessitate speeding up.

I actually kind of liked the grinding aspect to Peace Walker. Felt like I actually had to work to build up my arsenal/Mother Base.
Yeah you can tranq them and carry them to the chopper, counts as elimination too in that mission with The Eye and The Finger.Wait wait wait. You can collect soldiers in Ground Zeroes even though the Fulton system isn't in? Will they transfer to The Phantom Pain?
That's 40 per mission, they have different soldiers in each side op, stat wise they're probably similar but usually every mission even if it's in the same area has different soldiers. You can pick them up and chuck them in the helicopter. I severly doubt they'd carry into Phantom Pain. Also in the grander scheme of things 40 isn't that many.
Do we know anything about the R&D times? they were reasonably quick in PW, most cool downs were measured by x missions completed. No, the reason they have microtransactions is to squeeze money out of less patient people who don't want to put up with obnoxiously long R&D times. Yeah, the game should be completely grounded and serious. No fun should be allowed and should scale back from the fun ridiculous weapons in peace Walker.Man ... I saw the gamersyde new 30 min demo... and when I saw theI cringed... in a bad way.remote controled blast arm
Yes I know Kojima wants to provide fun and lots of crazy shit, but that was really effin ridiculous... both in concept and execution...
Still waiting the game like mad though, but I do feel that the game is filled with way too many crazy shit, even by Kojima's standards.

There's a guy with a Mega Buster on his arm, optical camouflage, and a katana fighting a Giant Mech in the first game.
You serious bro?
It's a sad day when people don't know how to appreciate a rocket punch =(
MGS3 has a dude who fires bees from his mouth. BEES. FROM HIS MOUTH. This ain't Splinter Cell.
Are you guys THAT passionate in defending the game using sarcastic comments to some guy's personal "nitpick"?
wow... just WOW.
Sorry if that bursts your bubble that hard, but even my most anticipated games have things that I will criticize. Not because I hate "fun" in videogames ffs.
Sometimes people here give me the idea, that certain topics are TABOO in specific games, based on their sarcastic responses to someone's nitpicking. Let me hyperbole it for you:
One should never talk about animation being complete SHIT in Bethesda games. Its blasphemous to criticize such a huge world/game/effort because of things like animation.
Or you cant ever ever talk about how bad player movement/navigation/control is in GTA games. You sound like an unappreciative jerk if you do.
Similarly, since MGS has always a guy shitting himself and a dude throwing bees out of his mouth , you should never ever ever open your mouth and say that you find ridiculous a remote controled flying punch...
Oh btw. All the above games GTA/Bethesda games and obviously MGS (my most anticipated game) are among my favorite games of all time.
But you know... there are still things I can nitpick about them. That doesnt sound as "rude" as GAF sometimes makes it seem to be.

This is a pretty crazy overreaction to some of the posts you quoted....take it easy.
