Motoi Sakuraba - Star Ocean, Tales
Yuzo Koshiro - ActRaiser, Ys PC-88
Masafumi Takada - God Hand, No More Heroes, Killer7
Noriyuki Iwadare - Lunar, Grandia
Yasunori Mitsuda - Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears

Dont forget Streets of Rage 2 for Yuzo.

Also with tracks like this, i'm not surprised:

After listening to the sample tracks, I have to say bringing in these composers feels like a waste if Nintendo's just going to make them compose generic orchestral soundtrack music like this. Sakuraba and Iwadare's contributions are rather uninspiring. Koshiro's and Mitsuda's are OK. Takada's composition is the only one that really stands out - it has a good sense of rhythm and fun interplay between the violin and guitar lines.

Twinbellows and Light vs Dark are not generic

You can actually listen to a sample track by each composer on the official site.

Sakuraba did the Main Theme: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/akdj/music/music01.html

Koshiro's Magna's Theme (Chapter 2 Ground Stage): http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/akdj/music/music02.html

Sakuraba again for Black Pitt's Theme: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/akdj/music/music03.html

Sakuraba yet again on Chapter 4 Air Stage: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/akdj/music/music04.html

Mitsuda composed the Boss Battle track: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/akdj/music/music05.html

Iwadare composed the Star Pirate Theme: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/akdj/music/music06.html

Takada composed the Training Room (for multiplayer) track: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/akdj/music/music07.html

Wow... what's this? Sakuraba bringing his A game?? What is this madness??

I'm still not hyped somehow.

After Brawl, I simply can't get hyped for a Sakurai game. Never again.

I be picking it up day 1, though. Need my 3ds fix.

Love the Training Room theme! It's too bad I'm not entirely psyched for the game, itself. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but it was far from what I had been imaging for decades as a new Kid Icarus.

I only know one of those names.

Granted, that one I recognize is great, but I definitely get the feeling I've got some "recommended reading" to do.

Why isn't anybody mention Yuzo Koshiro for his work on Etrian Odyssey?
Mistuda's on this as well? Holy hell...

There was already a lot of speculation regarding Motoi Sakuraba. I guess they were right on the money.

Wow! How does Sakurai pull these things together? I'm gonna be listening to Dark Souls and Actraiser tracks for hours thanks to this news.

Am I the only person in the world who can't memorize the names of japanese composers? I love a lot of japanese soundtracks, but don't ask me what their names are, I don't know (the only one I can remember is Michiru Yamane).

I knew it. The real reason people are not feeling Kid Icarus os because the got burnt on Brawl expectations.

Well I'm coming to KI:U with NO expectations and will completely judge the game on its own merits. Considering it is a revival/reboot of an old IP that didn't exactly have an approachable design to begin with, my stance is further justified.

I'm glad they only left this announcement for the last few days. Sakurai at least tries to temper peoples expectations a bit.

it's expected.

Isn't Sakurai like the Shepard of japanese video games?

I'm pretty sure every single notable vg person over there contributed somehow to Brawl.

Just as everyone else has said. I clicked on the thread not expecting much, but literally said "holy shit" out loud. These guys have stolen more moments of my life with their music than I care to admit.

I disagree. The Boss Battle has the same nice interplay, and also ties in with the main theme in some way. Speaking of which, the trailer music still stands out for me because is has the traditional title theme but reinterpreted with a fast-paced rock-orchestra concert. And it works, yet it's not even the title music.

Speaking of which, most of the themes I've heard here are complete original (the main theme is entirely new, for instance). And I don't think we have heard enough of Iwadare to make any judgements yet, so I don't think the talent is wasted when they're set to make original pieces with only slight homages to the original game.

Edit: That end part of Magnus' theme, especially when they used it in the trailer to introduce Dark Pit...

Needs more Masashi Hamauzu channelling his Unlimited SAGA style. :p

Jokes aside, what the fuck Sakurai. Also that training room theme is fucking godlike.

I still hope they use that they use that for one of the stages.

I'm a big fan of Masafumi Takada and I just wanted to post a couple of tracks he did for No More Heroes for those who didn't get around to playing that game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhnhMIJKSHs (Stop Hangin DJs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS7FzJMijxw (Walking on Leaves)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TX9o6uZnEs (Pleather for Breakfast)

Damn awesome soundtrack. I hope he's involved in the next No More Heroes, because I thought the soundtrack for the second game wasn't as good.

I'll leave this post with a track from Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Cross).

That Stage 4 Air Battle song is pretty nice. I like how it starts getting more playful towards the end.
Anyway, this is cool to know, but doesn't really affect whether I'll be getting the game or not all all.
Already pre-ordered it, full price.
