Chapter 8 - Mission spoiler
Is there a rocket launcher somewhere in the village that I can pick up or any other method to destroy those tanks? My R&D team level is not high enough to develop the first rocket launcher and C4 doesn't seem to do the trick.
PM if necessary.

So, outside of FOBs, how do these MB Coins work in the single-player experience? Base building and weapon research can take real time (up to a half hour I've seen so far) but you can use MB Coins to skip the wait? Are there any other uses for MB Coins that aren't FOB-related?

I have yet to see a single mention of MB coins after a good 10+ hours. Maybe that stuff will go live alongside the servers.

C4 works if you put a bunch of them on the road. Use the supply marker if necessary to restock on C4.

Mission 5 or 6 (don't remember) Spoiler/rant:
It took me ages to find the way to the Honey Bee... And I think I was too fast in that mission. Took me not even an hour. And the Skullface troops are scary as fuck - I didn't even bother using the HB but one time and then I ran for my life. Eventually it worked out pretty well.

That's mission 6. Spoiler heavy.

That mission took me
a full three hours.

It was a glorious experience.

Although I was a little peeved that
Kaz says 'you need a weapon that can track their movement...' so I thought the game was basically saying 'you can only beat them with the Honey Bee'. Wasted 6 of 8 Honeybee shots on the Skulls before realising I could have just been shooting them with my rifle. I got an A grade anyway, but if I'd used my rifle the bonus might have taken me over into S grade...

MB Coins are actually a metaphor for the new military-industrial complex and how, by purchasing them, you'll have the blood of one thousand nations on your hands.

Fellow bros.

When MGSV unlocks on Steam, does Steam being to automagically download the game, or does I needs to activate it somehow? Thinking if I have to install TeamViewer on my computor or not.

Since there's no preload, you'll need to manually start the download.

Side ops is the best way to level up basically anything you want because it has a variety of saving prisoners, killing/extracting someone and what not.

You should be able to hijack an enemy tank near the middle-end of their travel route. I found it by interrogating people in the village until he gave me the exact location. I used this to destroy the two tanks.

you have to set it to download. whether its on steam, or you can set it to download through your browser as well.

Did you already get the info from the hostage at the bridge base or did you wait until they brought him to the caves? I could only extract him without getting noticed after a savepoint glitched and put the 3 guards that surrounded him in front of him.

Well Kaz told me to use it and I did once. I then saw that I only carry 6 rockets and figured running would be a better alternative although I got hit several times

That blows my mind. So basically you could just GTFO from that boss fight. Damn nice haha.

I've had two difficult missions now where I've been trying to figure out a way in and a sandstorm has hit so I've just cheesed it through everyone without being spotted or headshotting people who I run close enough to, Feels cool but can't help feeling like I cheated the missions

Happened to me, too!

However you'll still only have completed 1 or 2 of the 6 objectives of the mission (including side objectives). Plenty of reason to replay them again and sandstorms probably won't hit.

Yeah, I'm talking about these coins.

Ah cool.

No idea!

I can't load into the game, think update killed it :/ reinstalling and downloading hasn't worked.

... Do you reckon the update blocked anyone with an early copy from playing the game?

Unlikely thoough. Really sorry to hear this man. Can you delete and reinstall without the internet connected so that it doesn't install the update again?

Friends, I haven't played any MGS since Snake Eater. Bad idea for me to jump back in now I suppose?

This is a direct sequel to Snake Eater, so it wouldn't be the worst place to jump back in. I'd watch a story summary of Peace Walker (which took place between Snake Eater and this) and you should be able to get most of the story in this.

Question about R&D and development:

I was checking the weapons/items development trees in game and I noticed a lot of blank spaces (not ? or locked ones) are these empty or are placeholders for blueprints / new tech? I'm only at mission 12 but I feel there's not much content to develop

No I missed
him
entirely and didn't realise that until this morning :( I remembered seeing the
three guards around him but once I got into the ruins I forgot he even existed

Great mission though, 10/10, will replay

Edit: can I just say
the ruins in Mission 6 are some of the best level design I've ever seen. And it's clear more shit is going to go down there, maybe in a side op.

Not at all, you're in good stead with Snake Eater, but watch Peace Walker's cutscenes too so you've cemented your understanding.

Then begin possibly the best game in the series... TPP

I was actually down to buy some MB Coins for a few extra FOB playgrounds and expedited development, but at those prices? Unless the cost of new waters has drastically dropped from Gamescom no thank you.

That's disheartening. I feel like for something that costs more than 20 dollars you're going have to wait for ages to get it by only playing the game. Hopefully they changed it after Gamescom.

This is (somewhat) reassuring, thanks. Here's to hoping that it isn't just hiding until after release. I can ignore FOB stuff, and look forward to ignoring whatever becomes of MGO, but a single-player grind informed by a paid consumable currency tends to spoil full priced titles for me.

Edit: $24 worth of MB coins if you want to just buy one FOB base, huh? That seems excessive.

Yeah, do this.

I found a cool 3-hour movie on YT yesterday that blended all of the cutscenes in Peace Walker with some of the important gameplay bits like infiltration and boss fights. It took me all day to watch, taking some breaks, but I'm glad I watched it. It made Ground Zeroes's backstory make a lot more sense too.

What I really like about this game, is that it is really full of atmosphere. I can't put my finger on it but everything is so well directed and geared together that I already start coming up with theories although I'm just 10 hours in.

Spoiler about what I think is important so far:
Language - Everything is referencing language - from the first quote in the intro to the language specialist you are extracting and listening to tapes about the origin of a word. Snake also supposedly forgot all other languages during his coma and I remember a monologue from Skullface in one trailer about how each new language made him change.

I just found a
mortar launcher
on a hillside and used that to take out
two
in one go. Admittedly I missed the
third
, but then called in
air support
as it was getting away and destroyed it without even moving. Thoroughly enjoyed that mission.

So you searched the whole caves for that weapon? Now I don't wonder it took you that long. lol

Wait, wasn't this a direct sequel to PW?

Yeah man I just loved exploring the whole level/area. It was glorious level design. Took my damn time with it (even though it was 0030 and I had work at 9) :)
