My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.

Lol, I'm not trying to say that there isn't a hefty number of adults who play GTA. It's just that GTA 4 sold what, 20 million? Origins didn't even hit one million. The reason that GTA sells that much is because it has casual appeal. Kids are part of that audience. The majority of sales Rayman (Origins/Legends) gets are from enthusiasts. Enthusiasts are generally adults. Therefore I don't think I'm going on a limb saying that: ratio of adults playing Rayman > ratio of adults playing GTA. I'm open to hear what you think.
Looking at third-party Wii U software sales to date, I have to agree that Ubisoft's reasoning for the delay makes sense.
I'm not convinced that it's correct, mind you. Just that it makes sense.

Can't release a game that doesn't exist lol
(in both cases I read the person's presence more as "thanks for being a fan, we really appreciate your support, bummer that sometimes stuff doesn't work out quite how you want")
the fuckin dumbest things you read on this forum, jesus fuck...
Rayman appeals to what I call the "Pokemon audience": 6-12 and 22-35. The 13-21 audience is too cool to play kiddy stuff like Rayman.
Do we know this was a fan protest?
Fans showed up at the dev studios and were sanctioned by Ancel and the dev team who supported and posed for them.
Do you have a link of confirmation?
I hope they don't get fired....
I don't think it really matters. Ancel and the other devs have clearly shown where they stand on this issue by posing for this picture. Everything else is pretty much secondary.
While I completely agree, the re-framing of the event is integral to how it's perceived on NeoGAF. There are those who have said that it's simply an attempt to show that the dev team is sorry things don't turn out the way we want them to, when there is no evidence pointing to that.
I'm confused by the title change of this thread is all.
Where is the evidence that there's a full blown protest?

I'm pretty sure that's a borderline personal attack, a bannable offense.
Either way what the hell is the point? That Rayman is more mature? The original poster that implied that much is delusional.
I'm 18 and I love Pokemon.
Ray man Origins sold less than a million units of the game on all three platforms looked at seperately. By far the most on PS3 and about half a million on 360 and Wii. There are not a lot of people playing Rayman period.
I'm amazed at the people who are saying "Who cares, it's Rayman". They must not've played Origins.
There certainly isn't evidence. All we know is that Michel Ancel and the Rayman Development team posed behind an image that states:
"Release Rayman. Support Ubisoft Montpellier." Rayman's crying face is seen in the middle of the poster. A speech bubble emanates from his mouth. It simply says "SVP" - "please". The background of the poster includes crowds holding banners that read "Wii U", "Rayman", "Michel Ancel" and "28/02/13", the game's intended release date before the delay.

I'm confused why there is the new narrative that it's a fan protest that the developers decided to sanction.
Exactly. It's interesting that a mod stepped in to fit the title with his individual narrative that he thought was normative. It completely reframed the event from "devs protest" to "devs show up." Both are unsupported.Yeah, following this thread, the story went from "Devs protesting" (and with the first picture shown of three people, it was implied all three were devs) to iirc someone in the thread saying "How do we know they were devs, they could have just been fans protesting" to "They were just fans protesting." Hearsay, on my internet?!
Outlier!
But I didn't imply that, nor did I imply that only teenagers under 18 buy Grand Theft Auto games. I also didn't say that Rayman was exclusively selling to adults but that is how you chose to read it.
A lot of people have understood the concept that a larger proportion of the E10+ age range will be more interested in GTA V than Rayman Legends.
Thus the sales that GTA V will be taking from Rayman Legends are predominantly those of, on this thread's evidence, so-called adults.

Plenty of adults didn't buy Rayman Origins either, no new GTA in sight. How would the majority of adults that buy GTA V but don't care for Rayman interfere with Rayman sales?
Interesting reaction, but I'm not interested in what you're selling. If you think Ubi devs would write Ancel's name in a banner and the name of their boss/employer as a ball and chain onto a protest banner, then perhaps your powers of perception aren't exactly functioning correctly. Fan visits dev studio, gets devs to pose with sign. Ancel is even doing a "hmmm, look at that interesting sign" pondering look rather than some wholehearted support gesture.
Game gets far less exposure on news sites since they'll inevitably be focused on GTAV?Plenty of adults didn't buy Rayman Origins either, no new GTA in sight. How would the majority of adults that buy GTA V but don't care for Rayman interfere with Rayman sales?
He's just wondering why they left the 't' out of Montpellier. If you think Ubi devs would write Ancel's name in a banner and the name of their boss/employer as a ball and chain onto a protest banner, then perhaps your powers of perception aren't exactly functioning correctly. Legends won't be the only victim of this, but when it was coming out this month in the middle of a huge software drought for the Wii U it probably would've invited much more press attention. Even just releasing the Wii U version now and the PS3 version in September (while hoping Microsoft doesn't turn down the 360 port, but that version didn't even sell the most in the first place) would be preferable.
The information has not changed. We do not know much other than that Michel ancel posed behind an image. Why was the thread title changed? These aren't the developers? What's going on?
Going off the leaked promo video from a year ago I'm of the mindset Legends was always going to be multiplatform, just that the Wii U version would be the lead-version and get release priority due to both its gameplay features and having a demographic that tends to react more favorably to 2D platformers.I can't argue that GTA V won't steal thunder from everyone, I was just debating the idea that the majority of sales for GTA will be from children and the majority of sales for Rayman will be from adults.
Ubisoft should've seen what would happen with the Wii-U and it's small install base, Legends should've been multiplatform from the start and released far away from GTA V.

... That took me a few moments to notice, so I'll just assume it did for Ancel as well.It wasn't. The T from the above word is extended down.
