It's basically at 8 millions, it may reach 10 millions by the end of the week.
I have friends in their 30s who stopped caring about FF (not huge players) calling me and gettinge excited about it, then you have a new generation of younger players curious to play this legendary game with flashy new graphics.

They manufactured this demand, and they know they had a deploy nuke button. I don't understand why the felt the need to use it now when they don't really have a drought or lack of jrpgs in the works. I guess they feel it's better now than later.

Final Fantasy VII is bigger than the franchise itself, I'm not really surprised. I hope it turn out to be good.

Matsuda stated it was part of a concerted effort to reinvigorate console hardware and software sales in Japan. It remains to be seen if that will be the case but it has certainly resonated worldwide regardless.

You can also seed, boost, and buy views too.
Which can account for something like 40-60% of views for trailer or general marketing content.

Just an FYI. I don't know how much Sony spent here, but I imagine it's still a factor.

Anyway you slice it though, 7mm is a big achievement!! I'm looking forward to seeing full YT reporting in a week or so.

This is absolutely true. Regardless of what individuals may feel is the "best" entry in the franchise, there is no question FFVII is the definitive FF game. This will be the best selling JRPG since......well probably the original FFVII

I'm not shocked at all. This is not a game that has a small hardcore following, it was a lot of people's first foray into JRPGs and for some RPGs in general. We've been teased about this game for nearly 10 years thanks to that PS3 tech demo. It really didn't seem like it would ever happen, but hey here we are.

It's without question my favorite game from my childhood and I can't wait to see what that world looks like on PS4.

So making a joke because "lol major nelson hates FF7 because it's console exclusive and he works as PR for Xbox". It's not even a good joke and the only reason that it was made is because "lol xbox people right?" instead of people actually thinking that maybe there are people who don't like much of what Square Enix has released in the last few years and tempers their expectations instead of going straight up into hype mode and forgetting everything Square hasn't done in the last few years. All of a sudden Square Enix is back to being a top developer and they didn't even have to release anything. And it's still a system wars joke through and through.

System wars bullshit permeates every topic, why can't it just stay out of a topic that has nothing to do with it?

Actually the best selling JRPG is Pokemon red and blue, with around 23 million copies sold.

That video has a strangely small amount of likes. Wouldn't surprise me if the views are fake. Sony did the same thing a few years ago from what I can remember.
Look at this Bayonneta 2 video also uploaded by nintendo, much more likes yet much less views

It would cost alot to make due to it's huge world, tons of events, minigames/side content, etc. It's a very big RPG. This seems to be the best time for them to go in financially and honestly I think the game will probably sell over the 5-7 million worldwide.

Yup trailer was well done and has me hoping that Square Enix is truly faithful to this game and what it's about. FF4 was great when they translated it into 3D because it kept the soul and feel of FF4 but still added tiny things that don't completely change everything (augments). I'm hoping for 7 to be remade the same way

Yep. I'm very glad they chose this instead of doing the XII HD version.

Will do a lot better for them sales-wise too

I feel like I've been underestimating how many people played FF7 and like two other games of that era.

I have only ever seen 4 gaming related posts on my Facebook newsfeed (I know, I need to get out there and get some cool gaming friends) and they're all FF7R related from the past week from people I would never have guessed have ever played a videogame.

Talk about your anecdotals I know, but still.

If there was a possible XII-HD in the future, I don't think FF7 would have any affect on that game going forward since it'd probably be different people working on it.

In terms of nostalgia Star Wars sorta trumps Final Fantasy.

Also, the Battlefront trailer is absolutely fantastic. I've watched both of them too many times to count and they're both epic in different ways.
