PS+ September: Journey, Lords of the Fallen, Prince of Persia

Indie games have secretly been better than AAA for years.

That's not a good thing... There are tons of great indie games given away on PS+ as good as RL, the fact that Rocket League is the only one that even nongamers liked makes me sad, as it's almost like it proves them right about the others.

Those people got served a huge serving of crow, yeah. I remember some not even willing to listen to those who had played the beta and were telling us how good the game was. Pathetic.

Funny thing. One of my friends, who spoke shit of Rocket League being on that month for PS+, is one of the ones i'm entering the RL Tournament this week. We've been playing for more than a year almost daily; so yeah, he ended up loving it (he even has the higher rank of us all lol). I still bring that crow he ate once in a while in our conversations :p

I guess I'll finally see what Lords of the Fallen is all about.

If any of you haven't played Journey yet do yourself a favor.

Good month, not for me. I already got Journey and Datura, and I didn't hear good things about Lords of the Fallen...I'll try it anyway.

Bottem of the barrel retail game, so the majority seems satisfied...

Guess I'll fire up Journey sometime next month. Playing with another person online is so damn great.

And MGSV Ground Zeroes? Damn thing doesn't even have a platinum because it's so short. Gat out of Hell is a shitty ass port.

Rocket League is the only good game that came out of the entirety of 2015. A year of Plus is €50 and Rocket League costs €20. If you didn't need to pay for Plus to play online (the main reason people cry - they're forced to buy Plus and it delivers shit) it would be cheaper to just buy Rocket League.

I hate when people pretend the PS4 is the only console serviced by the PS+ collection. If you're only going to avail of one third of the offerings you're probably not going to see tremendous value. If you did have access to the full range you'd have things like Freedom wars and Yakuza 4 from last year which easily make it worthwhile.

Rebel Galaxy [this month] is a fantastic little space game. Buying space rigs, arming up all their different slots with a variety of different weaponry [beam weapons, missles, emp, flak cannons, etc] and then destroying enemy fleets never gets old. Add a multi-branching story and a trading/lewt game [every space station has a different economy, and buys/sells items at prices based on their needs + galaxy events).

Super fun.

The idea that the only good game we got this year was Rocket League, is, as someone else said, horseshit. There are plenty of good to great games, but you'd actually have to download and play them to find out.

Especially so considering we got it last year :p

Interesting to see how many people in this and the Gold thread are happy for Lords of the Fallen, despite it by all accounts being a bad game. Is it because it was a AAA title?

I believe the image quality is better on the PS4. However, the issue is that there are framerate stutters and drops on both versions.

Three games I have almost bought in the past, so this month is ace for me! (Journey, Lords of the Fallen, and Badland).

I watched videos of the PS4 version of LotF and... do i see horrible screen tearing or was it the encode of the video i watched? O_O???

Lords of the Fallen is nice to see a retail game in there. Although I'm not a fan of Souls type games.

Not missing anything this month now my sub has expired. But perhaps a sign of better things to come...

Most are probably happy only because of it not being indie, yes. But some are probably like me: I love indie games, and generally prefer indies over AAA on Plus, but am still happy due to being a fan of Souls-likes

Terrible month for me since I have played Journey and Prince of Persia, hopefully we get newer games with the PS plus price increase.

Lords of the Fallen is a piece of shit (But it was a full priced game at one point so presumably that's going to be enough for some, sadly), but the rest are good, though I haven't played Amnesia admittedly. Looks interesting so we'll see.

Better month than most and more interesting than the GWG lineup this month at least. Damning with faint praise though that may be.

Yeah, it seems that having at least one recognizable retail PS4 game, no matter how bad, would placate people. If Sony keeps that up, that's probably how they're going to sell the price increase (and it's going to work, too).

I am interested in Amnesia: Memories' presence on the list, it's the first Vita game from a localisation specialist since (AFAIK) Disgaea 3 a couple of years back. Would be interested to see how that does for Idea Factory International, especially considering all of the smoke signals suggest that it didn't do well for them.

I wouldn't say by all accounts. People in this thread have enjoyed it. I'm interested in trying it and forming my own opinion, which is why I'm glad it was offered.

I guess in all the commotion of asking for a AAA game over the same old indie shit we forgot to specify that it should be good.

Personally I'm all for Knack being the next game if they can port it to PS3 and Vita too and they just make it the only game on plus for the rest of the year.

Ah man I bought Journey last month. But whatever I guess I'll finally give Lords of The Fallen a go even though I haven't heard any good things.

It's all single player. The "multiplayer" is that you'll meet others also on their journeys and progress with them, but it's the same as your single player game and there's no like "connecting" or loading into the multiplayer it just happens seamlessly.

I understand. But to play the game, it seems to me that you need to be connected online. I was wondering if I could still purchase the title and play it offline.

Yep. You'll experience some glorious screen tearing in Lords of the Fallen, but that's just the icing on the cake. The game itself is down right awful.

IIRC Journey was initially only available for purchase if you had Plus.
It had a several day window. Unless I'm mistaken?

Looks like people don't realise that Sony doesn't decide which game to give away. It's up to publishers and developers. Sony can't just randomly pick Watch Dogs or Black Flag and make it free.

I think the biggest problem is that Sony made Plus a mandatory subscription on PS4.

When a publisher gave away a game on PS3 Plus, they were giving a game to a small set of PS3 users who really love gaming and might recommend their more casual friends to buy the free game they loved on Plus.

When a publisher gives away a game on PS4 Plus, they're giving away their game for free. And that's it. Plus is a mandatory subscription, so the game will be free for pretty much the entire audience that plays games even casually. Nobody is going to buy a game that is free unless they miss it during the month it's available.

No interest in Lords of the Fallen. Don't like Souls games so pass on bad knockoffs. Journey is top ten of all time material, but yeah I know this because I already own it.

PS3 games... Sony should really get on a Virtual Console, because this doesnt change my mind about ending my subscription.

2015 PS+ Games:

Average score: 75.5

Average price: 14.63

Total value: $1,053,36

PlayStation 3: 75.8 Metacritic average, $15.05 per title
PlayStation 4: 75.6 Metacritic, 15.43
PS Vita: 75.06 Metacritic, $13.16

Only $1000 of games? Fuck Sony. I need at least $10,000 to justify the $10 increase.
