Looking through LinkedIn, their HR manager left in January and their Audio Director left in February to go work on iOS titles for Disney.

Not good signs.

People come and go from jobs all the time. HR and Audio Director aren't really indicative of anything. Now, if Creative Director and Lead Producer left, that's be something else.

Bethesda owns Human Head or Prey?

If they own Prey, any chance another publisher may release the game the way Square is doing with True Crime after Activision bailed on United Front?

I'm not trying to be rude but as if we needed another FPS. I rather the market be oversaturated with RPGs, TCGs and RTSs than another FPS.

It was also a bad sign when Bethesda cancelled the Prey 2 presentation at GDC 2012.

One of the people working on the game expressed dismay at that fact over twitter, so it seems like this cancellation is a fairly surprising turn of events even for the devs if they thought it was otherwise going well up until as recently as just a month ago. Dunno if they saw the writing on the wall earlier or not.

Mind thought process is so fucked right now, someone better have broke into the fucking building and deleted every trace of Prey 2 for this to happen.

It's a 2012 fps without multiplayer.

After all the bombs ZeniMax has released recently, their publishing arm probably had a heart attack just thinking about releasing the game.

I imagine Arkane's game would have been canceled as well had they not bought the studio.

Deus Ex did okay. I can't imagine Deus Ex cost less than Prey 2.

I'd think less of it if they weren't both recent and people they'd want around to finish the project.

I'm noticing one of their main technology leads picked up another job as well, and the things he was responsible for are all things you would really want someone to finish for launch.

I'm not saying it's impossible for singleplayer games to do well, just that if you're looking at your catalog to cancel things because 75% of your games bomb, this is an easier choice from a feature set/market position perspective.

I'm REALLY worried about Dishonored. It is exactly the kind of game I would make if I could. But it does seem to be making appearances in the media now and then, and I noticed it was added to an Nvidia driver's release notes a little while ago, so I'm holding out hope.

Why must this happen?! Everywhere I went, there was nothing but praise for it. Very depressing news.

At least this game seemed to have some fresh ideas and seem fairly unique when compared to most FPS games. Can't say the same for 99% of the terrible RPGs that come out nowadays.

Why would you do that man? That's like watching all those amazing porn videos you made with your girlfriend right after she dumps you.
It's actually more like the girl you tried to date sending you porn vids of fucking with her boyfriend. I mean, we never got to actually play Prey 2.

And now we just discovered that she forever friendzoned us and will also stop making new videos.

I would cut Wet 2. Celebrity voice actor fees, female lead not selling. Seems like a bigger loss there

Huh, I didn't see any of the stuff at E3 last year, but I only heard great things from friends in the press.

Perhaps "Prey 2" is canceled, but the project is continuing on as a new IP? The idea of making a sequel to Prey that sounded so radically different made any sense to me.

I rather take a generic rpg over a FPS anyday of the week.

We need more single-player-focused FPSs, especially after Deus Ex. I had high hopes for Syndicate, but that ended up being just another shooter where the campaign isn't worth a shit.

Well, fuck, they might as well just confirm it at this point.

Although it'd be weird as hell if it's true; a ton of money was sunk into Prey 2 and it was obviously very far along. I have to imagine something very serious, beyond just "hurf it won't sell like Call of Duty", happened during development. Cancellations of nearly-complete games are not done lightly in this day and age.

Still a huge disappointment, this one was on my radar as a Cool Thing for later this year.

That, or the rumors that the demos was just an elaborate tech demo and not a fleshed out game were true. Maybe they couldn't deliver on their vision...

Terrible news (if true, which sounds likely) =(

I feel like crying. My analogies suck harder than something that sucks very hard.

Bethesda own it now.(not sure when Human Head sold it to Bethesda..maybe it was with the publishing deal)

Hoping for another publisher to get it like True Crime/Sleeping Dogs

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
I want more sandbox bounty hunting games set on future earth with aliens. Who gives a fuck if its an fps or not?

The market is pretty saturated. As sad as it is, from a business perspective I don't see much reason for doing another FPS which doesn't look particularly special to the average customer.

If you look at any of the past footage it definitely looked special. It looked like Deus Ex meets Mass Effect meets Blade Runner.

I was hoping they announce Co-Op of some sort

2-4 of you chasing bounties down, hell you can do MP also by having 2 teams of 4 chasing a bounty, each team ties to screw over the other 1

or

One protects the bounty, while the other tries to get them

or

Hell Deatmatch, 1 bounty, king of the hill style

I mean fuck so many possibilities =/

yep, I think that is it. The game sounded too ambitious since the beginning. It could be released next-gen but just imagine for a second: ME3 devs had to cut holstering animation because they were running out of RAM. Now this game had open-world, Mirror's Edge type of movement, multiple gameplay systems and good graphics to the boot. Not gonna happen on these systems.

A parkour bounty hunter scifi game doesn't look special to the average consumer? What am I reading because it sure doesn't make sense.

Actually what is going on at ZeniMax right now, considering this and the rumoured Doom 4 cancellation about a month ago? o_O
