So What's With The Hate for Infinite Warfare? [Serious]

MW3 comes out. People are like: It's the same game!
BOPS 2 comes out and people are like: What is this futuristic bullshit?
Ghosts comes out (okay this one is horrible but still) : It's the same old CoD!
Advanced Warfare comes out: Enough with this futuristic bullshit gives us old CoD back!

And this goes on and on...

No hate from me. I've been hyped as hell even before it was revealed. I just hope IW didn't throw everything from Ghosts away.

The SP looks more ambitious than Ghosts campaign or any CoD before it. Kind of building off of Black Ops 2 and 3, but going further.

As for the MP, I just hope Ghosts god-tier netcode and customizability stays intact, along with strike packages.

I'm not even going to touch MW Remaster beyond maybe getting all the achievements/trophies and maybe a few hours worth of the MP. I've already gotten what I wanted from MW's MP including getting to 10th prestige years ago. I don't really need to do it again. The game doesn't hold up as well and the fact that they say they aren't changing it at all beyond graphics is disappointing.

Ghosts isn't horrible. The MP is, but I don't care about the MP.

Looking forward to it more than BF or Titanfall. BF literally looks like a reskin while I'm not a fan of some of the changes they've made to TF's MP. I suspect the SP will be good but I dunno if that's worth a day 1 purchase.

Meanwhile IW is at least attempting something new beyond the six hour linear campaign. I'm getting an Expanse vibe from the SP which I am all for. Just praying that the MP is primarily space focused with dogfights and landing on/capturing capital ships. It will probably be the same old spawn sprint around die spawn stuff though, which I don't want from my shooters in a post Overwatch world.

Black Ops 2 is considered to be the last good COD game by most of the community. Nobody actually cared about "futuristic bullshit" in that because they didn't have boost jumping which is the main thing people hate. On the contrary, the future setting was a nice change in BO2 while still keeping the old gameplay.

Ghosts had terrible maps. That giant fucking castle was so huge that Ground War was the only way to play it... and it was only on PS4 and Xbox One while the majority was on PS3/360 (Ghosts was a launch game for the new consoles).

Advanced Warfare brought us the boost jumping which is the thing people hate. Black Ops 3 has a less powerful version of it (most importantly: dashing is gone) but it introduced wallrunning which is another thing people are divided on as you still need to look out for players in the air.

I feel like most of the people who've taken a more... pro-active stance against the game don't even know what's in it. They decided it was terrible and that it's a copy and paste... (The irony being that they all want MWR which is literally a copy and paste, go figure.)

I wonder how many of them know that...

  • The Jackal is upgradable
  • The Jackal is not on rails
  • Your ship acts as a hub
  • There is side missions and the e3 mission was one.
  • There's loot in the SP side, which ties into the fact that your scavenging for resources.
Even just this small details are seemingly lost.
You are talking about single player. People don't care about the single player. Only 47% of Advanced Warfare players finished the first mission of the campaign, 25% finished the campaign (PS4 trophy statistics).

Tank Mission was the tits. I really enjoyed the zipline/parachute mission as well.

I admit there are some cool moments and set pieces througout the whole campaign but the sotry/characters and level design did no favors to the game. Every single minute that wasn't a cinematic action scene was boring and uninspired.

I'm damn excited. You can put me in the camp of people who at the Sony press conference said "holy shit, that's Call of Duty!?!?"

Advanced Warfare had a preety good campaign mode.I don't consider that '' thing'' as a campaign in Bops 3 but Multiplayer and zombies are fine and dashing/walrunning stuff in BOP3's multiplayer is not gimmicky.

That's why I didn't look at Black Ops 3 trophies, that campaign was terrible and I'm sure even those who like COD campaigns wouldn't finish it.

But only half of all COD players even touched the AW campaign. The game's menu even says that you should play campaign first if you choose multiplayer immediately. Most people ignored it.

12v12 is a huge turnoff considering its current gen only. Why did we even buy these new systems then? I can't comment on the gameplay, but I'm paying to play online games against a bunch of people, and hate the "small" feeling of past CODs.

You mean the mission with the Tank that handeled like a Ferrari?

Which is why it was so great.

Hating boost jumping just goes to show how casual the angry Call of Duty hardcore players really are. Doubt they could even fathom a game like Unreal Tournament.

Story itself isn't really that bad, just kinda predictable. The level design was middling, but it's still better than just about every AAA on the market.

I think there were plenty of great/decent firefights throughout the game. It's not like Treyarch COD's where it's always consistently weak.

Well, with most people praising the trashy Treyarch campaigns as some sort of hallmark in the series I can understand why they didn't enjoy something that was finally good.

The singleplayer campaign in AW was absolutely great, a clear story with clear antagonists, a non-violence porn stance on warfare that instead tried to ask some questions about its subject, it is the reason why I am excited for the next Sledgehammer project because they clearly get what makes a good campaign.

And while I generally don't play multiplayer, I thought the boost jumping addition to the game was the first time I found the multiplayer a bit enjoyable for once since MW1, not as great as Titanfall because Titanfall was fucking amazing but still pretty decent.
