No, per episode. £160 million/36 episodes.

They are promoting the shit out of this show, which is great. Even my Amazon package last week had "Grand Tour" tape instead of the usual.

That is absolutely ridiculous, what could they possibly spend £4m on?

Although i guess the wages for those 3 adds up to £3m lol

I'm a bit naive, but I'm assuming you'll be able to buy each episode as it comes out right?

I don't want Prime.

Yes this is what I am thinking, I do have Prime myself in the UK, but I have had friends ask me how they can watch it, but if you are in the UK without Prime can you buy each show?

So are all 10 episodes being released on Friday? Thought I remember hearing they were going to do a staggered release every week.

Nah, still going to be a weekly show. Episode 1 on Friday, episode 2 on the 25th and so on and so forth.

As part of the promotion, Amazon UK is doing a sale on yearly Prime subscriptions until the end of the week, bringing it down to £59 for the year.

Oh my god the salt

The 'team' have said that they didn't really get much more to spend on the show than when on the BBC, the 4k and HDR came at a high price but Amazon insisted on it, so I suppose once that is added it pushes up the costs, they also said that they had to hire a team of (Dutch I think) technicians who know their stuff when it comes to 4k and HDR, I am also pretty sure that I read that each has basically doubled their money.

So if this drops at 00:01 GMT then it's only two and a half hours away then?

Oh shit it's live. 1 hour and 11 minutes for episode 1. Aw yiss. Watching now.

Yo this opening though. Holy shit.

What an absolutely fantastic episode. That intro alone was rather emotional.

The boys are back and in all its beautiful 4k glory.

Welcome back.

Wow at the start of the show, just beautiful.

You can see that parts of the show are still being worked out but very good first episode.

I don't know why they think it's necessary to lie and fake everything.

A lot of the scripted bits aren't really funny enough to justify their existence.

Plus the small things like clarkson saying the producers hid the times from them, then saying the mclaren was faster with the tires that come with it. How would he know if the times were secret??

I guarantee they knew the mclaren was the slowest when he made the "knock my house down" bet.

So unnecessary, STOP LYING AND JUST MAKE GOOD CAR PORN

Have you ever watched Top Gear?

Yes I've watched all of them.

It's always been a problem but in the past they at least tried to hide the fakeness.

The RAF joke and celebrity deaths were just bad and went on for way too long.
I feel like you're not getting it. It's not about whether it's real or fake it's about having a laugh. Do you get angry at your friends when they say "I'm gonna kill you if you touch my food" and then don't kill each other?

It's part of the appeal and one of the reasons I watch it. Next time just pick up your remote and fast forward through that stuff to the car porn.

I loved the original TG and I watched this last night and I thought it was ok.

The segments in the tent just didn't seem as polished as when in the studio on TG and it did sort of feel like they were being held back, I cannot put my finger on it, it was the same as TG but different, something was missing, maybe it was just the atmosphere in the tent maybe.

The outside sections were as good as they used to be that said, the La Ferrari, 918 and P1 test has been done and better by Chris Harris imo, it was just too late for Jezza, Hammond and May to have done, Chris Harris did it nearly a year ago and from what I remember there was the Chris Harris team, Jezza, Hammond & May, and another team there all filming the same day/days.

I think the 'tent' segments will get better as the trio get more used to them.

Scripted and funny is fine.

Spontaneous and kind of funny is fine.

Scripted and not funny is a waste of time.

If future tent segments are similarly bad I will start fast forwarding through them. At least they got rid of the celebrity segments though. Those were the absolute worst. Boring people driving slow cars badly. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It felt more rehearsed and stiff than TG. Not natural at all.

The crowd was definitely being "directed", which didn't help. I wonder if they were even top gear fans or just space fillers.

Outside the BMW M2 it felt like "been there seen that already".
The "holy trinity" cars are so 2015 and have been done to death on every other car show. :(

This must have been filmed on the world's best cameras. I can't believe how good this looked on streamed 1080p. Night and day compared to anything else I've ever seen, except perhaps Planet Earth II.

I will agree the picture quality is amazing. The show was very entertaining to me and as a car enthusiast I can never get enough of three amazing vehicles on one track.

This is only the first show and it will only get better as things are figured out.

I agree completely.

Don't even have my 4k HDR telly yet but on my 7 year old Sony Bravia 1080p it was some of the best I've ever streamed.
