A lot of people around here pronounced it wa-rez (rhyming with Juarez)... but that's because I live in a spanish-speaking country and a lot of people don't have the slightest idea of english (sad but true), so they pronounce it exactly as its written.

I had a buddy who mispronounced them in similar fashion and I would never let him live it down. It was so obviously a call-out to "wares" how anyone could misinterpret it is beyond me...No offence.

Anytime I ever heard it said aloud, people always said 'where-ez'. I thought it was weird but at least more distinctive than wares.
