Watch_Dogs - Story Trailer leaks on Xbox360 preview dashboard / Release 05.27.14

3 days before Mario Kart?

Ehhhhhh

They've done a horrible job hyping this game since the delay. I'm more excited for fucking Mario Kart.

Well, the WiiU version of Watchdogs is further delayed, so not really a problem.

Did y'all see the same GTA V as I did? That game ran 20fps, was blurry, high pop-ins and poor textures. The only thing that game had going for it was lighting. Watch Dogs is a generational leap.

Image GTA V in 1080p with steady 30 FPS or even 60.
NextGen games should be more than LastGen games in 1080p with steady framerate.

Watchdogs should look MUCH better than GTA V and by that I don't mean things like resolution.

That said, I think Watchdogs will look pretty good.

Apparently I need to go back to my eye doctor.

Those character designs looked way better than gta v to me! The details on all the clothes looked awesome.

I don't get how people here can't separate what was concept to what is reality, or making this out like Ubisoft pulls this every time. AFAIK, the only two instances that come to mind are this and likely The Division. RB6 Patriots might have made the list too if it weren't for our knowledge on the issues with its development.

As far as the demonstrated IQs of the demo, it's been clear since the second showing that it was what Ubisoft wanted to achieve rather than what the actual product was. Which, for those with long term memory issues, is nothing new to this industry or exclusive to Ubisoft.

What was shown at E3 initially probably wasn't CGI. Ubisoft's team were able to construct an isolated environment that could exemplify each element, so long as they kept to a specific path. More or less scripted as we've long suspected. Once the full game was taken into account, much of it had to be 'downgraded' to deal with everything else in the city, having A.I. be able to react in their own way, and pretty much everything that comes into account for a full product, let alone one that is open world.

Edit: Ubisoft should be more clear on what that demo was, but many of us have been here long enough to be able to differentiate between these things.
hindsight is 20/20. where were you when watch dogs was showing those supposed "isolated" demos?

This is the PS4 version? What the hell, looks barely better than GTA V and let's not even compare to the reveal trailer way back.

Very disappointing.. Gonna get a big pass on my list.

If this is PS4 footage, I'm pretty scared to see how it looks on 360. I'd probably still buy it though.

This trailer lost all my hype for this game and I had only a sliver of hype for this game.

Did anyone else get an extreme "present-day Assassin Creed Desmond and his 2 friends" vibe from watching this trailer.

It literally seems like a copy/pasted present-day AC game with all the same types of characters. Super nerdy computer Chick, smart-mouthed male dude, and leader PC (Desmond/Aiden)...

Lol, this game is gunna flop.

Hard.

Never expected anything else. Wouldn't even surprise me if WatchDogs shares the same universe as AC.

Funny how this game seems to have evolved from a next-gen showpiece, to something that seems to belong on a ps360.

Does seem odd.

Can everyone imagine the fallout if the current build is what we got on release!?

I will wait for confirmation from Ubisoft, but that early video really is a generation above the current video, and it is disappointing that we may not get that level of fidelity.

Would rather wait another year tbh and get those visuals than these. I guess that earlier footage of the PS3/ Xbox 360 version should have given us an indication of this! Disappointed, but it is a cross gen title and I will expect much more from Ubi as they leave last gen behind.

Here and watching the footage from different media. And the 'hindsight' has been there since the first demo following the E3 one, which I believe was the side mission chase demo, then strengthened with every showing that's come across this board and the delay itself.

I'm not saying people can't be disappointed, nor that developers should showcase these concept/pitch demos without clearly stating what they are. I'm disappointed and want this industry to grow the fuck up and learn how to communicate. But for a board where it's members make themselves out to be more knowledgable than most other communities (and some developers), it's amazing how many people make this out to be a huge surprise. Especially since this is a pattern in the industry that we've been through time and time again.

Also.... *whisper* WD1M14?

Not familiar with that abbreviation as far as game related content is concerned.

Story and gameplay glimpses shown are completely underwhelming, but those graphics can't be nextgen. Someone post those old PS4 vs PS3 comparison shots, the lighting should be very distinguishable.

Joke post? Generational leap? Lol. It looks worse than Ac4 on PS4 and that looked bad. The lighting in gta V on ps360 is a generational leap over the lighting in watch Dogs. I can't wait for the next gen port of gta V. When you compare both ports, you'll understand what a generational leap is.

Somehow everytime I see new footage of this game the hype just keeps deflating instead of rising.

Graphics look average.

Wow. Graphically that trailer is .... disappointing.

Is this just further examples of what happens when you're trying to make it on every console available?

I still can't wait to play it, but definitely underwhelmed by that trailer, unfortunately.

That's true. The night skyline in this trailer is a joke compares to GTA V's.

Looking at that video, kinda looks like what I'd expect a port of GTAV to look like on the ps4. (again kinda)

But something just seems off with the lighting, too bright, like maybe missing shadows or something. Like they've left a setting turned off or something that adds shadows.

Anyways, the reason people have so much of an issue with this game's graphics being like this is because it looked significantly better when shown off 2 years ago. If they hadn't shown that off, and had revealed the game the way it looks now, many of the comments would be "yup, looks like a cross-gen game" rather than "looks like a ps3/360 game"

Edit: But also, I noticed that their previous gameplay vids had some framerate hiccups when performing some actions, the game looks silky smooth in the video now.

GTA V is the undisputed king of open world graphics. The lighting, atmosphere, shadow work, ground and object density detail is unmatched on last gen consoles.

Yes.
Does this include the new AC4 AA solution? Or is it all new tech?

According to Wikipedia, the Disrupt engine is purpose-built for Watch_Dogs. PC is the lead platform and will get TXAA support (proprietary nVidia temporal AA solution) amongst others.

Who knows what AA will be employed for each console.

Likely is another example, but somehow I doubt an open world game could look as good as that first Watchdogs footage without making some serious concessions in other areas to work on both PS4/XBO.

Is that supposed to be from the trailer? because it sure as shit didn't look that good, granted YT compressing but still.

Although I did feel like I was watching a Liam Nesson movie trailer with all that growling, I was just waiting for the "I WILL FIND YOU!"

Well this is very disappointing but not entirely unexpected. It's a shame, the lighting and shadowing were the gems of the original trailer, adding some great atmosphere to the environments, now its very much more drab and almost flat or sterile by comparison.

I imagine the PC version has suffered a similar fate too for the sake of parity, although I sincerely hope not, there is no reason to prevent systems that are able from doing the work. Hopefully if the game is good, the community will work on modifying the game on the PC at least

Are you kidding me?

The hell is your standard for looks good?

I can assure you the PS4 is capable of far more, as is the xbox one and the PC. I thought it was pretty bad, but I suppose I'm biased towards the PC so my perspective is skewed

Don't know if I can do two open world games back to back.

Very close to transferring pre-order of this over to Wolfenstein.
