I've been looking for the opportunity to break out this gif somewhere, and I guess here would do as well as anywhere.

Anyone who claimed Titanfall was a system seller can go take that idea and throw it in the trash can. It barely caused a small bump for Xbox One.

It sold to existing users aka enthusiast Xbox fans, mainstream seemed to give zero fucks.

Microsoft spent the month hyping Titanfall, giving Titanfall away for free, giving Xbox Live Gold for free, discounting their bundles, and Sony still beat them by doing nothing. I thought for sure Xbox One would win the month.
Sony released Infamous, that's hardly 'doing nothing'.

311k is pretty good for march for a $500 system even if it's a hyped and bundled game.

Actually it's awful for what was being pushed as the second coming, shit we had people in here telling us it was going to hit 400 - 500k.

MS has fucked up.

Congrats to Sony! E3 going to be very interesting. I would love to see an aggressive Microsoft come back into the fray. You know, the Microsoft that launched the 360.
Im happy to see both companies doing well. We're in exciting times.

Why anyone expected for TF to push XBO h/w higher than PS4 is a mystery to me. Glad to see that the market knows its shit.

"Today, we congratulate our friends at Respawn Entertainment, and Electronic Arts, as “Titanfall” for Xbox One was named the number one selling game in March, according to NPD Group figures released today."

No. According to NPD Group figures released today, Titanfall for Xbox One AND PC was the number one selling game in March. Since we don't have the exact numbers, Second Son could have outsold Titanfall on Xbox One and the PC sales just pushed it over.

This thread will get out of control in 3, 2, 1.....

As for the numbers. Pretty shocking given Titanfall but ...then again with all the controversy the Xbox One has had had on resolution compared to the PS4 pretty much every month since it launched along with a higher price or on par price with the game included is it really all that surprising? Factor in the lack of Games with Gold on Xbox One compared to PS+ and then the issue that Titanfall itself while a great game is just MP only so its not a game for everyone plus the X1 version once again was drug through the resolution gate business. Given all that, is it really shocking that the Xbox One still was behind the PS4?

Following this news Phil Spencer has his work cut out for him.

So judging the Microsoft PR,Sony has more than 2 million lead because 5 million xbone is only sold to retailers, not customers.

So if Microsoft don't have the most gamer focused E3 evar this year... then I don't think I'll ever be buying an Xbox One.

I expect to be buying an XO shortly after E3. For less than they are currently on sale for ;)

Whats the titanfall sales number?

It's really not bad. Not sure why Microsoft refuses to announce it.

It's gotta be over a million if you include the hardware bundles and download sales.

Is that right? a TWO MILLION LEAD over xbone?! holy shit

5 million shipped by their first March is actually a traditionally good number. The PS4 is record breakingly good though.

Still waiting for TF numbers. 700k or bust.

BTW MS, drop the Kinect. You can't outsell the PS4 at a premium.

Wait, wait, wait.

So not only did Titanfall not push MS over the PS4, but it only boosted sales by around 60k compared to last month? Even with the free bundles and retailer-specific sales?

Yikes.

50+ territories > 13 territories

Someone had to say it.

$100 price difference.

There is a reason why MS launched in only 13 territories. If the demand was there they would of launched in more countries then they did. It's obvious the bulk of the brand is in two major markets.

And it's 5 million sold-in to retailers, not customers. The lead is bigger than 2 million

You guys don't need to double check me, I'll just say this- I'm eating Pizza and ....

PS4 @ 60k more :).

Except it might not be as hot as they want it to be.

I figured, they usually put chest thumping PR out a week after the launch, but then I figured around when the 360 version would launch, now at NPD time but still nada.

The theory about most of the potential Ttanfall buyers already owning an X1 seems to have rung true.

Time for Phil to bring their A-Game at E3. I hope Microsoft rebounds and refocuses. They need to push Sony more for the good of competition. I probably won't buy an Xbone though.
