Official Sunset Overdrive Trailer

This is literally the only reason I'd get an Xbox One at the moment. It looks sooooo freaking fun. A return to form for Insomniac.

This looks to be to Infamous what Saints Row is to GTA. A less serious, less polished take on open world craziness. Preordered day one. Did they say this was coming in 2014? I hope so because the last game I bought for my Xbox One was Zoo Tycoon. Given Xbox One is going to be a single player exclusive console for me this game ticks every box. I love the focus on the single player campaign and this game can't come soon enough.

Sooo about all those games they said they couldn't fit in at E3 because they were already passed their 90 minute limit or something? Could this month of games leading up to E3 be one of the ways they're letting people know about them? Seems to be working really well for the hyyype, Microsoft E3 is gona be huuge!

This game does look like fun. I also love the art direction, hopefully we will get more of these cartoonish looking games during this gen, they sure look great.

I wonder what this gen will bring to the cel shaded games like Naruto. That Guilty Gear game looks like it's straight up Japan Anime uh Cels? It's unbelievable. More of that please, and I hope it's not difficult. Too bad Japan Devs are focused on handhelds due to Japan's market. Such a shame, I want the cel shade RPGs too.

You can make any game sound boring when you describe them like that.

Name a game, any game.

It's definitely a flamboyant game. It won't appeal to everyone. But I think the gameplay and environments look far from boring.

I wasn't being purposefully reductive, as that is my least favourite attribute of posting. It was an observation and almost certainly a statement of fact based on the first two or three minutes of that trailer (which I did watch on mute while eating/cooking breakfast, in case that has any bearing - I'm sure there are far more nuances in that trailer than I saw while juggling other tasks!): all I saw was shooting at large mobs of disinterested parties, explosions, wall running and big jumps through a tremendously stylised environment.

But like I intimated, anything from anyone to do with R&C has my attention, and my interest, piqued! I look forward to an information blowout come E3 :)

I think people are going to be surprised by how much smooth traversal is going to play into this game

Hmm, that sounds A-ok to me.

I love the art and concept of this game, but the movement and animations look super clunky at the minute. Also I hope that the mutants that are running all over the place in the trailer are scaled back a bit or there is more variety as they look identical to those runner zombies in resistance and i never really enjoyed fighting them.

Boxart is amazing.

Interesting... reminds me of dead rising... but more cartoony.

Insomiac honesly hasnt impressed me since they've gone multiplatform... Fuse was a snore to me... but hopefully they deliver with sunset overdrive.

Now this is next gen open world goodness I want. Massive JSRF and Crackdown vibe, amazing combo. Love the animation and OTT action.

It looked better than I was expecting :). This is the artstyle that Insomniac is more comfortable in imho. (at least when compared to FUSE/Resistance).

Weapons looked pretty nice, though nothing really new was shown, that hadn't been experimented with in Ratchet series. Amps seems like a cool idea, though :).

But most of all, gameplay looked fun, if tad too slow paced for my tastes. Will be keeping this on my radar.

This looks amazing. I wonder how much cosmetic things you can unlock to change up your character. I'm really hoping this comes out early in the Fall.

Looks nice, like a mix of Jet Set Radio and Ratchet and Clank though I would have preferred if they were a bit braver with their artistic direction. This reminds me a bit too much of Monday Night Fight Club's aesthetic/style and honestly that's not as memorable as something from Ratchet or Spyro, but that's just my personal opinion.

Enjoy it XB1 owners, Insomniac games tend to be very fun :)

sorry you feel that way, but know we had to partner with the right group that believed in us and the vision of the game, wanted to see that vision came to life, and was ok with us retaining the rights to our creation.

In all of those regards, Microsoft has been a terrific partner in making Sunset Overdrive reality.

I'm curious, and no one's asked, but being that Sony has been a lifetime partner, did Insomniac go to them, as well, with the concept? If so, I'm curious as what they thought about it or what prevented them from going for it.

Microsoft admitted to a similar situation earlier this year with passing up on Tequilaworks' Rime. Not the best decision on their part, and if the same goes for Sony and Sunset Overdrive, then not the best on theirs, either.

Also, please get that orange box approved. I want it.

Its been stated pretty clearly by Sony that if a comapny makes a big exclusive for a PS platform the IP will be owned by Sony. I think it was stated as one of the main reasons Insomniac did not want to be bought by Sony or make exclusives for them anymore.

And here I thought we'd go an entire thread with being excited without seeing a "Power of the cloud" joke.

Shit is old.
Agreed, it's unfortunate these type of tired jokes are not a bannable offence.
We've seen how Titanfall came out. I have over 100 Hours on it, and I'm pretty bored out of my mind and sick of it. There isn't enough content, and the FInal Hours shows how the game was rushed to make March date to help Xbone out.
100 hours is pretty good I would have thought, I'm still enjoying the game, only 50 hours in though. Also after reading the Final Hours I don't think it was rushed out the door, unless I missed something (totally possible).

Thanks! I didn't know that. Do you have a link for reference? Not that I don't believe you, but links are always nice.

I think this is exactly what is happening. SO is their first big fall game, so this reveal gives it its chance to shine on its own, whereas at E3 it would crammed between dozens of other big games. Also this lets MS spend more time on other stuff at E3 (although I'm sure SO will have a presence).

As you mentioned, Phil tweeted a while ago that they've had to cut stuff out of the show, so I'm sure this early reveal helps (or maybe was part of the cut). I'm looking forward to see what else they have in store for May.

Just now watching this. Looks awesome. Like Infamous x Ratchet with hints of Saints Row. The first XB1 exclusive to make be consider a purchase.

I don't have the power to make Microsoft change their boxes.

But I'll ask.

(I'd say the chance of that happening is minimal... but I'll ask!)

Another idea could be to include an orange sleeve that goes around the box, I guess especially for a collectors edition (if you guys do make one of those). The box itself could still be green, but the sleeve would be the cool orange color.

I feel like I'm the only one that isn't really impressed :/

Nah it's cool I'm not really either. Looks a lot like inFamous to me, which didn't really tickle me either. I'm waiting for someone to take inspiration from Prototype instead.
