Halo 4 |OT2| TURBO

It doesn't take up that much space, my gf is just a bit of an OCD neatfreak so if something looks off she hates it. Truth is there is plenty space for it, just none she likes...

Xbox's biggest mistake was not having games out now that use it well. BF4 uses it really well and Xbox Fitness as well. Other than that its just those Kinect Party games and some minor voice things in FIFA and shit.

They are using kinect for media stuff which makes more sense.

True, but especially early in the generation you have to convince the hardcore guys who are going to plunk down the coin. Not having a few killer apps to appeal to them and show the power of Kinect was probably its downfall.

Playing with my brother's One I really love the voice features especially, use them far more than I thought and it's far better than I expected (even understanding me when I try a series of really bad foreign accents on it.) But it's entirely understandable why that's not worth $100 to some people, even if it is to me.

It's a shame we probably won't see much Kinect use in Halo going forward, although having the voice commands as an optional input method to save button presses might still make sense. "Lightning bolt" in CEA was cool, and I'd love to see if the input delay in the voice recognition is now low enough that such gimmicks have real value.

(Also, considering that even if well-designed a Waypoint app would have a shit-ton of stuff to navigate through, if it works half as well as the Netflix integration it would be a great asset to have snapped to the side of the screen.)

On the subject of current Halo, not entirely sure what the "progress bar" for the Top 200 players means:

https://blogs.halowaypoint.com/en-us/blogs/headlines/posts/proving-ground-top-200-5-13-14

Is that just how they stacked in relation to their competitors? If so why is it an absolute scale, rather than relative to each other?
Frankie pls respond

Was in waypoint for a short while a long time ago, now that I remember that might have been what introduced me to gaf in the first place. Someone probably linked a frankie post or something.

Lack of multi player games atm- no CoD, Battlefield, or Titanfall but I'm not very interested in those. I've been playing alot of single player stuff recently (some fallout and skyrim dlc was on sale). Getting thru college slowly but surely, even tho I should've been done long ago but reasons.

Not sure if I ever did this...

How long have you been a member of NeoGAF? How long have you lurked?

Almost two years now. I lurked for a few months prior.

I guess I should go ahead and formally introduce myself too then, instead of just posting randomly. :3

How long have you been a member of NeoGAF? How long have you lurked?

Couple weeks now I think, though lurked for 2-3 years on-and-off.

How old are you? What country or state are you posting from? (Optional)

24 male, US.

How long have you been a Halo fan? Have you played all the games?

Ever since Halo CE, LANing against my neighbors and friends like I'm sure many of you have -- all the way up to H4. I was also pretty heavily into the books, but that's waned as of the past few years...

What mode do you spend most of your time in?
(i.e. Multiplayer, Campaign, Forge, Firefight, Theater)

Multiplayer for sure, but I make it a point to get into the campaign as much as I can, I dig the lore of Halo despite some of the concerns I've had from Bungie's departure.

What is your favorite playlist?
MLG without a doubt, but in Halo 4 I futzed around in BTB and some other playlists with larger groups when we couldn't get a custom going. I don't mind dabbling but I prefer 4's.

Help us get to know you better. (Optional)
So, I used to attend the MLG events back in H2/H3 day -- and those were the days, man. I know good ol' Cyren here from the days back on Halo2Forum and subsequent site renames as well as many MLG-goers and a few people from b.net a very long time ago.

I frequent the Pokemon and Dark Souls OT's pretty regularly -- long time lurker first time poster to those as well but here's hoping to becoming more familiar around these parts!

Right now I'm still jamming pretty hard on DSII PC and XY just waiting for E3 to roll along and excite me again.

As for what I do, I'm a modest self-employed session/recording musician playing the drums in the NY area. Anyway, heya HaloGAF's, it's nice to finally make my presence known -- and I look forward to playing future Halo's with y'all.

Duncan updated HaloGAF after the thread got locked. He was taking some tips and insight at HGS where many of us were. Looks much nicer than it was.

As for Tashi being hired. They needed more community oriented fans/players. He's been a strong member of HaloGAF for a while, did the podcast, helped organize customs. He was also part of the old tournament set ups, is friendly with the staff. Don't know what you expect. Do you think you'll be hired at any job if you publicly and openly criticize their products or insult their employees? A lot of it is jealousy I guess, that they themselves would love to be hired but weren't. But all of us here should be happy guys like Tashi are hired.

But if he starts talking about how much he loves motion sensor/radar and Infinity settings, you know he's started drinking the kool-aid too.

Takashi, one question: CE Pistol or BR?
I know it doesn't compare to CE, but what did you think of the anniversary settings/playlists in Reach?
sorry if I've unwittingly opened a can of worms here

Eh, it's a tossup depending on the settings for me personally. TU Slayer DMRs is better than Infinity Slayer, but Legendary BRs is better than default AR starts in Reach.

Actually, I think I prefer Infinity to default Reach with ARs so in that sense, the worst slayer in 4 is better than the worst slayer in Reach (in my experience). Objective, different story.
It does come down to personal preference really. I'm not going to go out of the way to defend Reach, IMO I think it's pretty bad just not as bad as 4. Both vastly improved with updates.
Objective is one of the reasons I prefer it. 4 really lacked in that department unfortunately.

Yep, I'm of the opinion that 343 really improved some objective gametypes (Team Regicide > VIP in my opinion), and Ricochet is awesome, but the lack of asymm. options really hurts the game. I think round-based objective is some of the best fun in Halo (1 Flag Relic!)

I like you.

Ricochet is pretty awesome, I actually thought it worked well on the pit. VIP I never really cared for (although back in 3 I had some pretty crazy custom games that were were fun) so yeah agreed Regicide > VIP for the most part.

I thought they went backwards with CTF and infection/flood however.

Pretty much any of the 1-flag or 1-bomb games in halo 2 were tons of fun - both team objective and big team battle.

I know we like to joke about slurping , but whats wrong with showing intiative and going after something you want? Tashi, Melad, and Jeff all earned it.
Agreed. Networking has and always will be a great way to position yourself to get hired. There is far more security in hiring someone you know, which is why internships are so valuable.

I'd rather see hard working kids, who go through college, and work putting the hours in getting the opportunities they deserve. The whole networking lark is a tired excuse to hire bad people. Always has been, always will.

I don't know the full stories of Melad, Tashi or Jeff - so I'm not commenting on them specificially.

And Heckfu, go chase someone else about the book. Using it to try to insulate yourself from criticism is fucking childish. You cannot tell me what I can and cannot do, so please refrain from it.

You saying that you aren't talking about them specifically is bullshit because that's exactly who you described in the sentences prior. I'm sorry that Tashi didn't go to college but you talking about him not deserving something because he didn't is a super douchey thing to do.

As of now I'm equally qualified as you to get hired as we've both completed zero books from our respective organizations. Only difference is that I haven't taken other people's money yet.

I know it doesn't compare to CE, but what did you think of the anniversary settings/playlists in Reach?
Top 5 Reach Playlists:
  1. Classic Playlist (the first one with all Forge World remakes -- the settings felt great with the TU on those maps)
  2. Anniversary (People forget that Reach TOOK AWAY Power-ups, but this playlist brought them back (huge issue people never mention when saying Reach > H4, so either they don't give a damn about Power-ups or those rose-tinted glasses at work))
  3. Invasion (Elites >)
  4. A game of chess against a 2 year old.
  5. The rest of Reach's playlists.
Objective is one of the reasons I prefer it. 4 really lacked in that department unfortunately.
Haven't been blown away by how fun an Objective game can be since Halo 2. Ever since they shat all over Objectives by making the default gameplay sluggish and making Objective holders EVEN SLOWER than that.. they just haven't felt the same. CTF needs the H1&2 flag physics back.
I think round-based objective is some of the best fun in Halo (1 Flag Relic!)
Good god, the feels. I LOVED 1-flag Relic. Honestly, Halo 2 fucking nailed objective gametypes.

My people.

Stinkles pliss. Hate me all you want, but just give the people what they need/deserve/want.

Halo fans have earned it.

Keep clinging, Heckfu.

I ain't saying anything about Tashi, dude. You're reaching very far up that ass of yours and pulling out some real steaming turds. Taking what I said and turning it into a an attack like that is... pathetic. I didn't even know Tashi's educational background. Thanks for sharing?

You should probably stop it.

And yeah, stop harassing me every chance you get. Pretty sure there's a rule or two on the forums here about it.

I don't know where you get your standards from, but if you can find another double one like you have there i'd LOVE to know where you got it.

i'll end my posts about it with this one, but networking is a great way to find employees or to find an employer. to think otherwise is a foolish way to go about living in a working world.

(and speaking of working, i'd appreciate it if yall finished that book yall promised over a year ago!)

I post over at the Waypoint forums whenever the community isn't making me mad. Also a member at Team Beyond.

Playing Titanfall and Dark Souls for now. Waiting for Halo 2 Anniversary and Sunset Overdrive.

I might not post often here, but I am frequently on the 360 and an achievement hunter, and trying to get into game design.
