Tried the 360 trial...enjoyed it but I can see why a lot of reviews are calling it overly complicated. The time mechanic can be pretty daunting at first...still getting used to it.

Ill admit this game feels like equal amounts of action and puzzle and I wasn't expecting that. Pretty sure Ill be buying it later but I didn't love it at first like I thought I would.

This game isn't as fun as I'd hoped. Only went through the trial, but while the platforming is nice, the rewinding mechanic is pretty shit. It's just so cumbersome to actually use that I couldn't really be bothered to carry on playing.

Maybe it's something that becomes second nature when you've done it a million times but as much as I played, it's ugly (such button prompts, very huge, wow), awkward and just irritated me. I must have played twenty games with this "help your past self!" mechanic now and this is far from the best realised version of it.

Also seemed massively overcomplicated by picking up your dead comrades and using their skills, shards to slow down time that appear when you rewind and other stuff. I dunno, for me, shit like this is way better when you keep it simple and STF feels like Capy had too many ideas and didn't really know where to stop.

There's obviously an audience for it, though, so maybe it's just me. Maybe it's a sucky trial. Who knows.

I'm just wondering if someone who is close to Capy is able to answer this question regarding the Range of Fire achievement?

I've finished the game and still have yet to pick this one up. I've unlocked every character and used all there charge attacks in a single level but the achievement is still unlocking.

Can you please clarify if I am misreading or misinterpreting the achievement description or if it has indeed glitched? :(

I've had trouble with this too, I've tried exactly what it says and it doesn't work. Either glitched or the description is misleading.

Any help with the Head Banger achievement? No idea how to get that one.

Use someone who isn't running on their feet ;)

Watching the Giantbomb quick look it seems this game is not for me.
It looked so much fun before I saw that rewind feature in action. That just seems to suck the fun right out of it.
The game is not what I expected it to be, oh well.

So the game froze on me the first time I encountered Jeff. The music kept playing, but it just kinda sat there. AFTER I saw him die the first time, after trying 5 or 6 rewinds and stuff to get him. I had to close the game from dash... which them forced me to start over from the very beginning, Tutorial and all! :/

Went back though, beat 198X, and have had no issues since then.

I don't understand complaints about it being overly complicated. It seems like it has layers for a variety of players. Some might want 1 uber troop, and others might want bullet-hell army. The game has the systems to allow you to do both! What's so hard to understand beyond that? I actually really like the "power up with your partners charge" idea, because that adds a new wrinkle I wasn't aware of much until the past few days, and it's better than simply giving you another HP. Something to band-aid your progress, and something to make you feel cooler and more powerful at the same time. Good Job Capy! Many modern game designers don't seem to get how to properly make someone feel better about such things.

I think it all works surprisingly well once you see WHY each implement is in the game. Speed-Up really helps when you're trying to catch dual-exploding Glorbs. Being able to GET to the point to save an ally a bit faster due to time-up is very welcome, and keeps the game from forcing a certain character as "the saver" each time.

I like the idea that people could make some very intricate boss-kill or stage-run videos by making loads of remixes atop each other. It's pretty nice how everything de-synchs a bit from each action taking bosses through new phases quicker. I'd love to see someone figure out how to basically force a 1-hit kill, or start spelling names in the air with certain shot patterns. Seems like a nice playground if you really get into it.

6955's music has been very nice so far, but I haven't found it particularly memorable or surprising. I've heard the replay theme so much from watching Game DVR vids that I have a love/hate feeling with it, ha. I hope future music stands out a bit more.

I love all the attention to micro details. Random sights littered all throughput the lushly-detailed environments, the way the rooms of your ship not only serve the base "here's you collectables!" purpose, but also how they have extra bonus stuff like showing the character's just Chillin'... it just feels like a game the designers had FUN making, which helps a lot to really reference the glory days of pixelated gaming.

For me, this might be one of the best Action/Puzzle hybrid games, because the action is engaging and deep enough to make the puzzling fun, and the world and characters have life to them. So many side-scrolling games by smaller devs seem to spend much more time creating the base game, than filling it out with the kind of bonuses and fun we've seen in gaming since the arcade era. One of the things that makes me love Metal Slug to this day, is how it's not only a very solid series of games, but it's full of personality throughout, whether it's from character death, vehicle destruction, comrade rescue, or even just selecting a character. This all makes punishing difficulty and retrying stages until perfection much more bearable.

Still really early in, but I look forward to seeing if things continue to be as fun as the game goes on.

Played it for two hours this morning, love it. Had fun thinking of ways to blast through a level as fast as I could or grabbing all the glorbs/collectables or a combo of both. Seeing the replays at the end is a riot.

Can anyone confirm or deny if there is not a demo for the One version?

I am at work right now so perhaps there is once I am home and can check straight from the console itself, but through the horrible mess of a website that is known as the XBox Store I only see the option to download the full version of the game to my One. No demo.

The 360 version has a demo clearly listed.

Really am not a fan of this trend of the One version of games not having demos (if it winds up being the reality of the situation).

I agree that the time travel gives multiple layers. If you just want to blast through and use the time outs as extra lives, you can do just that. But if you want to speed run levels (
which you kinda have to for the hidden achievement
) then you'll need your ghosts to do much more.

No demo. Or course, you have Twitch Streams and game DVR lined right from the product page, and people are actually starting to show more than replays! Replays are really misleading VS the nature of the real gameplay, so it's good both are available.

Unfortunately, there is no demo-parity between 360 and One at this time. Especially not for arcade games. The closest one gets is the Lego game demos. If anything, 360's required demos lend more demos to PSN / PS4 than to XB1, which is really irritating.

I just bought this game and love it. I agree with other people sentiments that the time travel stuff is complicated but you figure it out after a while.

Commander Repeatskis (sp?) double eyepatches is hilarious. Awesome character design.

Thanks for the confirmation of no demo.
Actually watching a few Twitch streams now on my lunch break and while helpful in helping me making my final decision this does seem like a game that having a demo to get a feel for the time mechanics especially would have been extremely beneficial overall.

Ironically I would have never even had the premise of a demo stuck in my head if not for the fact the XBox website took me to the 360 listing first.

Will probably pick it up.

Jumped over to my 360 to try to demo and I'm not sure this is for me. Just can't seem to grasp what is going on at times. Maybe I'm just being an idiot after having a long day at work should probably try it over the weekend when I'm fresh

Gotta say that, at first, I was a little crestfallen about the rigidity of the game's encounters and how heavily trial 'n error based it felt after that first real stage, but I've warmed up to it after having left the expectations of a purer run 'n gun behind. In TIME...(lol) it does work very well, IMO. Only complaint is the lack of being able to remap the lock aim function from LB to the triggers...they feel more comfortable than the bumpers on either Xbox controller. Great job, Capybara.

Time to take a break from the game. Level two of

was starting to aggravate me. What a complete bastard of a level. :))

I got this on the last form of the Internet/Metroid boss.

I had all of them (dis)charging at the same time (each repeatedly for ~10 seconds) and just kept adding more until the boss died whilst that was going on. So much noise in the replay. heh

Same here...wasn't blown away by the demo but purchased it anyways and I am loving it now.

I still get confused at what is going on sometimes...not by the amount of action happening on screen at a given time but by the interactions with my previous lives.

Anyone else having problems trying to purchase this on 360?

There were some issues when it went up this morning (the US was the only region mentioned) but no one has said anything since then.

What exactly is the issue? Buying in-game, from the dash, from the website?

RANGE OF FIRE ACHIEVEMENT - there's a bug we caught before it went live, and the patch is inbound very soon. Hoping for tomorrow/friday for it to hit Xbox One.

Thanks for all the notes folks, definitely appreciate the GAF support on this one.

It's an amazingly exciting day for us at Capy. Super Time Force is a crazy little game with a crazy development story, and I couldn't be more proud of the crew.

Tried downloading from dash and from in-game via the free trial and both ways give me either Xbox service errors or an insufficient funds error despite having enough for the game+tax.
