Gun looks really cool. Still going to be pissed if this doesn't have MP.

Also, if you aren't checking posters saying "OMFG, AWESOME AWESOME AWWEEEEEEESSOME!!!!!" based off of 2 minutes of gameplay, quit complaining about people saying the same clip looked lame or whatever.

what part of it looked Gears of War?

Third person cover shooter with pretty graphics.

Either this is a masterpiece in sarcasm, or the most ridiculously hyperbolic statement on GAF today.

Well I was going for hyperbole, but that was what popped in my mind when I was trying to describe it. Very little lateral movement, and just shoot things as they pop up. Where are the tactics? The flanking? Multiple paths?

And remember this was meant to show off the game. They picked the best footage they could get to represent the game. This isn't some random section of a Let's Play video.

What isn't generic about it?

Define "generic" within the video game context.

-using specific and accurate wording.
-All words used in the definition must have a definition. This prevents the interpretation of soft words that have no particular meaning. i.e. Deep, shallow, button masher, repetitive
-it must be all inclusive and mutually exclusive in it's definition
-No Hyperbole
-Examples may be given ONLY to illustrate a point of the definition, not as the definition

once you've done this. Confer with your colleagues and once the consensus of the definition is reached then you may apply the "generic" descriptor to the game if and only if the game can be described by the definition of "generic"

The main thing that sticks out to me is that the video levels are wrong. Everything is washed out because it's 16-235 levels instead of full RGB 0-254.

It's pretty phenomenal. I don't know who is a paid troll or who is high on fanboy-fumes anymore. So I guess someone is doing their job. This place is coming off at the hinges though, with E3 so near.

E3 releases global pheromones which exacerbate normal levels of fanboyism to such degrees where normal life is often disrupted, and GAF threads become hostile within minutes.

It's a fascinating study, and I plan on having careful studies on multiple GAFers by tracking their responses to different subjects in this time of chaos, and then cross-checking it in a nominal hype environment.

Please define awful, and then give me an example of a game that looks "great".
It is a grey shooter with weird fantasy elements. I don't like how people are quoting me cheering and hoping for account murder. I don't like gears of war a lot. I played the game and hated everything about it. I saw this video thought it was similar and said it was awful

I don't get why people are being so hard on this game for the TPS/cover aspect of it. FPS games haven't changed much in 20 years and I don't hear many complaints over how they're just about shooting reloading and throwing grenades. The gameplay certainly doesn't look revolutionary, but it doesn't look bad by any means.

I suppose shu's talk ''highly imaginative new IP'' and the other talk about sony taking risk in this new venture etc

Got people thinking its going to be something new and different

At this point its a combination of fans hype and what sony/ROD have said or not said, shown or not shown.

Though I'am sure the muddy waters of what this game is will be cleared at E3

Wow, the cynicism - this reminds me of the DriveClub threads! I thought it looked really good. Standard third-person fare, but I liked the sense of communication between the team, and I thought the gunplay looked good. Also, I'm pleased that the visuals seem to fit the historical setting naturally -- that was my biggest worry, but it works.

Can't wait to see more. Sony really needs to rethink its strategy with these videos, though. Either reveal it properly, or do nothing.

I don't mind that this is a Gears clone, but my main disappointment is lack of multiplayer, co-op or deathmatch. The only way I would care about a shooter without multiplayer is if it was a RPG like Mass Effect or Fallout or if it had a really good story like The Last of Us.

Considering they brought in 2 time Emmy writer Kirk Ellis to write the story and chose the aspect ratio the game runs at because they were going for a very strongly story driven single player experience from the get go makes your comment seem ignorant. Either you don't realize that this game is more than just some generic shooter or you are trolling with all your posts.

Absolutly terrible video.

I was thinking "okay, everything we have seen so far is uninteresting, this is time to show what the game truly is about".

... And it's the same.

It's a fucking generic TPS with a grey background.
You can explain me that the setting is why it's ugly, but it won't change the fact that it's ugly.

Even the Gears had more colour. Here there is only grey, grey everywhere, and almost no nuance.

The buildings look generic too, same goes for the presentation, or the level design. it looks boring, just boring, I don't see anything interesting in this video.

People will obviously call me crazy "but man look at this cinematic feeling ! look at these effects" but I don't care.

E3 is my last hope for this game, right now I am more excited even about Driveclub (which I don't really care about).

Looks great, cool setting, and nothing wrong with a 3rd person shooter.

Main issue is that it's a new exclusive IP, and people are going to expect something unique to set it apart. The game should have something to call it's own or make it stand out. Uncharted for example was a cover shooter, but it really pushed things in the sense of creating a cinematic game that felt like you were playing a movie. What is The Order going to do to make it stand alone?

Man Sony, who's decision was to put that up on Twitch?

I saw the less choppy version and it made the aiming look way more tight. But the way that looked on the stream made it look so floaty and unresponsive.

I want to see it direct.

I hope Halo 5 will not play like an fps, would be pretty boring.

Of course not! it will create a whole new genre it will be called HPS (Halo Person Shooter) and then every Sony shooter will be called out as trying to copy the HPS formula!

is this thread filled with astroturfers or what?

I thought people were excited about this game, it looks pretty freaking cool aaaand i will wait to see more videos to judge if the gameplay will be there (previous games from this developer tell me it will)

probably don't want to show many spoilers

30 seconds of gameplay.

"OMG! We're all doomed!!!"

Man, you are like a parody of a bad stereotype.

Stereotype of what? Yes, I'm reacting to a 30second clip prepared by the developers to get me excited about their game -- it failed. I don't like what I've seen seen and, based on some of the other reactions here, I'm def not the only one.

I hope we're all wrong about it being generic TPS shooter number 205, but nothing shown so far commands confidence in that.

So what's a non generic building?

Yeah... as good as the graphics are, this game just isn't for me :(

I personally wish they'd finish this as soon as possible and go back to making platformers or fantasy adventures.

MS: another Gears next-year
- Yes this is awesome news! a 5th GoW game

Sony: Here is new TPS IP
- meh, like all Sony games they look pretty but nothing special in fact its boring
-----------------
I have seen the above repeating so many times like with Uncharted 4 (meh) and Halo 5 (yay) or DriveClub (boring) Forza horizon 2 (I can't wait!)

Well considering The Order is a new IP, I think it's expected to do something different or original. Gears is an established IP so it is expected not to deviate to far from the formula of the previous games.

Not impressed right now. Gameplay looks generic.
Between that, infamous and driveclub, Sony 1st party fails to impress me ao far.

Well to be fair we haven't seen enough of the actual gameplay to judge. There's much talked about such as the horror elements, destructibility and detective elements we still haven't even seen at all.

And Infamous was amazing.

Well, the grey is explainable since whoever was in charge of getting the video online managed to have incorrect video levels. The video feed was 16-235 levels inside a 0-254 signal.

i wanna see something more direct feed, whatever will have a more stable frame rate when i watch it. the game looks beautiful and i'm not going to judge gameplay based on 2 minutes.

Exactly, everyone was super jazzed after The Last of Us E3 demonstration, was it yet another third person shooter? Of course, but it felt incredibly dynamic, tense and fun.

I don't think the comparisons to Duck Hunt are that far off based off what was shown in this clip. You hold down a spot and unleash a swath of bullets in a shooting gallery type scenario.
It's not that it looks like Gears of War clone. It's that looks like a bad Gears of War clone.
I'm honestly just not understanding what exactly is compelling about this game beyond the visuals.

You have got to be kidding...

And "duck hunt" and "a bad Gears of War clone"....

Oh nevermind

Did you just call the buildings generic?

look i can get that people aren't blown away with the game or think its more of the same but some of these complains seem a little crazy to me
