The Last of Us Remastered - 30 Second TV Spot (Spoilers)

As someone who has yet to play the game - I see no correlation between what I saw in the TV spot and what could be considered 'spoilers'. Risky, but I really wanted to see some more footage of this game.

Looking forward to experiencing this in just over 2 weeks! I nearly bought a PS3 after I got my PS4 to play this.

Enough with the spoilerific trailers Naughty Sony! You're supposed to lure people in with trailers, not scare them away.

Show some damn gameplay!

If anyone ever wanted a good example of crushed blacks (as opposed to simply a screenshot with areas in darkness), this is as prominent as I've seen it in the wild. I doubt the game looks like that.
Also my first thought.

I hope that's not actual ingame footage how it will look on my TV.

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
The only thing that jumps out at me in the gif comparison are crushed blacks.

I would love for someone to point out (WITH spoiler tags) what exactly this trailer spoils.

Complete nonsense. No one who hasn't played it has any idea of the context of anything there.

Do I win a prize for talking about my penis on the Internet???
Im a PS3 owner that has never played TLOU..yeah I may have to get this whenever I decide to bite on PS4.

The TV trailer was pretty clean.
The E3 trailer has some spoiler moments but you still don't see the bigger picture (I would recommend to stay away from it as it spoils certain key events).

tv spot for a remaster, really sony? is the ps4 lineup that bad this year?
Oh come on. It's a remaster from one of the highest reviewed game of all time and highly regarded by most of the community. Lots of us didn't own a PS3 and some who did did not play The Last of Us.

Oh yeah, I skipped that part in the conference. Good to know that I should still stay away, thanks. I know very little about the game (for once...usually I absorb every piece of media I can find for a game). It's going to be good :D

Insane For Sony
Cross posting from other thread

PS4 has build in decompression hardware so they could probably compress it more to fit on disk then expand when installed since it no longer has to play from disk.
That's not how that works with videos or media in general, sadly :\
I'm worried about the same thing to be honest. That cutscenes will look like overcompressed macroblocked garbage, but at 1080p60!!1

They don't want to show how bad it is.

Why else hide?

People keep being reminded, but TLoU MP wasn't revealed until super close to launch and people worried.. it was great.

They have nothing to prove, just be patient - they made, in my opinion the best game of the generation, so why should we doubt them?

Wow...some users are really thick-headed.

I believe Yoshida specifically stated that TLOU was made with people who didn't own a PS3 in mind but jumped into PS4. Therefore why should so much of the remastered title be shown when story is of the utmost importance in the title and there's a PS3 version of the exact same game out already -_-

It's a DVD release (PS3 version) getting the Blu-ray treatment (PS4 version) for fans and new owners of PS4. Why are we still looking for some media blowout like its a new game. Why do I still see some users asking if 60fps is really confirmed? Strange, very strange sometimes gaf. 2 weeks...

I hate to be "that" guy but using pre-rendered cutscenes over and over again on trailers for a game that many people have already played seems like bad promoting to me. The game comes out this month, right? I don't get the reasoning behind that. It's okay to show spoilerish cutscenes to draw in people who haven't played the game instead of showing just a little bit of how the game plays and how it's different from the original?

It is "okay", but certainly not preferable in my opinion. If I was a newcomer I wouldn't want to be spoiled but see gameplay.

This scene used 'in game' models folks. This is what the characters will look like when playing the game (but not quite so compressed). Look at the detail on Ellie, particularly her hand. The grass behind them seems to be 'plusher' too, perhaps denser/longer?

Exactly, and the models were already really good during gameplay on ps3. We've all seen those close up gifs of ellie in game. The cutscene models' details will get to shine in 1080p.

For a 1 year old game, with record breaking 200+ GOTY awards, which was THE game of last gen, and for some people the best game ever? Yes, more spots/trailers, etc. please!

Some cutscenes used higher resolution characters and some used in game characters. The scene above used in game characters and they look like the cutscene characters. This game is going to be heavenly. Can't wait to see the screenshots people post here in release.

Oh this scene is realtime? Interesting, someone should definitely screencap this ps3 segment.
