Not surprised at all by the reviews. Pretty much what I was expecting.

Sad to hear that the camera is still an issue, but I found it tolerable playing on Vita, so I'm sure it'll be okay for me here.

Can someone comment on how the other members in your party function during battle, and can you switch to them and/or define how they react?

This is always my biggest fear in RPGs with real-time combat, and none of the reviews I've read so far seam to mention it.

First thing I said watching an off-screen video of someone previewing this game was " holy shit that is a horrible camera ... hope you can fix that or they do "

But it is SE, so no surprise the camera stayed exactly as it was, despite being blatantly horrible.

We can't customize the AI behavior but we can easily switch to them with the press of a button.

You can take control of anybody in your party at any time.

They did fix it though. The psp version would give you whiplash

you can swap to your other party members real easily. You can't really control them beyond choosing the skills they're equipped with, but if you want them to do a particular thing it isn't really time consuming to tag over to them and make them do it.

Really want to play this, but I don't have the time right now (especially with Bloodborne next week). Along with that and the price tag, I'll probably wait for a price drop.

Given that this is a PSP game port, pretty pleased at reviews since combat is the main element I am interested in. Expected environment criticisms from porting from such a limited device in comparison.

Ally AI isn;t fantastic, but at the same time it's not bad. It's honestly non-intrusive. There were times where I wished it had a gambit system where I could manage what my party did when I was controlling a particular member, but they never did anything inherently detrimental. Just basic old, attack and heal maybe an occasional magic spell.

They DO know this is a remaster of a psp game right?

Yes.
Obviously it started its life as a PSP game, but somehow the HD treatment hasn’t managed to shake the overall atmosphere of a handheld title

The system was clearly designed for the PSP

Any shortcoming the game has can easily be dismissed by the fact it’s a PSP port… that is, except one: its price. If this was a complete overhaul, the price tag would make sense. I’m not denying that the team responsible put in a lot of hard work and made many improvements, but at the end of the day — and even with all its upgrades — FFT0 still feels like a simple port. Every improvement has helped to have the game limp over the line of what people would expect, but just barely. If FFT0 was half the price, it would serve as a great alternative way to play a decent game. In the end, that’s all this is. Asking $90 AUD is simply too much and makes you wonder why it doesn’t fit the standard of other current-gen title.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but has anyone tried Remote Play with this? How offensive are the controls on Vita via Remote Play?

From what I'm reading it's going to be a game I'll like a lot.
My only doubt is if I should just rush my first gameplay then go for the 100% on ng+... is there like something that is exclusive to the first run?

nope, nothing first run exclusive, though there are ng+ and ng++ exclusives

They fixed it but it looks like it is still an issue if these reviews are anything to go by.

Good lord, can't imagine the PSP version and don't even want to if it was that bad lol. Good to hear they atleast worked on it enough not to make people puke

Mixed reviews I see, the comments about the story being bad and overly convulted are specially dissapointing.

But it does sounds like a decent purchase once it gets a heavy price drop or sale. Which is what I planned to do anyway

So consensus about story so far - its crappy? I fear about FF15 really.

IIRC, Nomura was said to be heavily involved with the story and character. So it's not like it ever had any chance of being good.

But at least previews sound excited about the world and exploration. Skyrim was also really fun with a crappy story

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
How is 14 good to great reviews against 4 bad reviews "mixed"?

If your only line is between "great" and "bad" I suppose.

Nakazawa's combat seems to be the highlight of this game, I really hope he's involved with FFXV's combat now that Tabata is in charge. It sounds like where he'd be focused, so at least that's good news.

Typical playthrough is about 30 hours if you don't go nuts with side stuff. Newgame+ should be even less time than that, partially because you'll likely skip some of the story that you've already seen the second time around and because you retain your levels, equipment, etc which makes some parts of the game really easy.

But all the missions (the bulk of the game) are different the second time around. So you aren't playing the exact same game when you NG+ in Type-0, you're actually playing new stuff.

Two playthroughs of Type-0 should take around the same amount of time as a single playthrough of a typical JRPG.

I can't wait to play this tomorrow. I wish it still had the multiplayer component, but I will survive.

I'm not expecting to be blown away, but I'm hoping it'll be the type of game where you can get a lot of enjoyment if you play it on its own terms.

Exactly my thinking!

man that cape animation is pure ass. They couldn't add good physics to it during the remaster?

btw how are the panties? Seriously, there were interviews about the psp game where the female designer was proud about how each female character has distinct undies >.>"

Japan.
Panties are in. So are Bikinis.

im pretty impressed with how well the marketing folks used only footage that looks next gen :p

There seems to be a bit more 'up ressed psp textures' than I like for something they are asking $60 for :/

I'd honestly probably would have rather just got a no thrills 1080p 60fps upres port ala Peace Walker HD for like $20-30.
