I gotcha on the Lake Shoji V dub challenge :)

I've just fired out the 2nd set of challenges on Glenmorgan to everyone on my list - same 7 cars and settings as the first only this time with heavy precipitation :) I'd expect the 4wd RUF and SLS Electric to be top of the time sheets this time around but it'll be interesting to see if anyone can slither the Mazzanti around quicker :) All times were set in 5 laps or less and 5 were record laps (the other 2 were 2nd place) but that prolly says more about the lack of competition with this settings than my ability!

Here's a taster..

https://youtu.be/8wtdUgGEPrA

Just managed to tame the mazzanti around in a 1.18.5 on my 4th lap should get it into mid 17s with more effort. Really enjoy heavy rain makes it feel allot more simulation especially with that mazzanti.

anyone have issues with ghosts?

been a couple weeks it stopped loading them for me even when connected and the leaderboards have fully loaded

I don't play much outside of when new packs drop because it kinda kills the mood without something to race against

I recently added another Gaf member to my club, who wanted to try the club cars. So, if anyone wants to do the same I have one spot open. Bear in mind, that it isn't an active club. I tend to play the game few times a week, but never online outside of challenges. So, if you want in send me a PM.

We have two slots open in our club, but ideally I want people who play the game quite a lot. Been sitting on a similar Club level for far too long now.

Club is GAF EU, PSN is NIBZY.
I have sent you a friend request on PSN.
Yall can all join mine: Lunar FC. Just kicked three nonactives from it a couple days ago.
What is your PSN id?

Everyone: add me up, now that I got myself this game against all odds, I want friends who hang out in the game like me, and beat up each other's scores. :)

Drifting used to be my favorite event, and I like to think I was pretty good at it. It felt like real drifting, and pulling off a clean run was a great feeling.

But now, it makes no sense to me. Fast, weak angle drifts score tons of points while strong angle drifts, drifts like real drifting, score very little, even when going fast. If I'm in a long corner, I can watch my points go pretty good to 2000 and then slow to a trickle once I pass 2k, even though I didn't change my drift at all. If I do a super weak drift which looks more like I screwed up the corner in a time trial and squealed the tires, I get 3500. If I go in fast and then give a stronger angle to slow down during a decreasing radius turn, I get less points.

I went back to an event I had a top 10 score in (Bandipur with the Ferrari California). I can equal my score, which is okay, but when I look at the number 1 score, he got 4500 points in the final corner by hauling ass and doing a weak drift, nailing the guard rail hard at the end. In the Initial Drift event, I'm even with the number one score at the last corner, but then he gets 12,000 points in that corner. WTF, that's BS. That's not drifting. It's gone a complete 180 from what it used to be.

Agreed that drifting makes no sense at all with the new scoring system. The biggest problem for me is that I simply don't know anymore what exactly is rewarded to achieve the highest score. I just participated in a community challenge and within 4 runs I placed third. After 20 more tries I couldn't better my score but I also didn't get a feeling on what to do in order to improve because the rewards seem erraric. Sometimes I scored way better in a corner then the number 1 so I knew the score could be beaten but when I tried to replicate my drift by using the same speed/angle/line the scoring was way lower.

The next 20 or so tries I only concentrated on the 1st corner. It seemed like duration of the drift and carrying speed through the corner were the most important aspects for getting a good score. So I tried upping my score by keeping on the outside of the corner with minimal angle. At attempt 50 I made a mistake and hugged the inside of the corner with a bigger angle and got my highest score ever. I was like WTF but I couldn't replicate that score so I gave up. What is going on here?

That took me long enough, but feels good :)

Finally went back to clean up some races from prior tours. Venom Hot Lap 2 in the books. Got all of my Friends List beat, so I feel good about that. Took probably a good 35 minutes to nail it. I could do a much cleaner lap, but that car is so volatile that I don't think I have enough patience to run 60 more tries to shave off one tenth of a second or whatever. What a challenge. Thank you based Evo!

Edit: Nice NullPointer. I guess today was Venom Hot Lap day :D

Thanks, and cheers to besting Venom Hot Lap II. I can't even think about that one as a personal goal for a while, but I've heard the tales of woe and despair of those who have come before.

I have found some of the hyper and track cars are giving me less trouble lately, but don't know if thats from changes in the game or if picking up two new controllers made the difference for me. Am starting to think its the controllers though. My launch controllers flat out wouldn't work in GTAO and Helldivers for certain actions, and that was immediately obvious, but I think those problems were also unknowingly hampering me in certain conditions in DriveClub where throttle control is super necessary - like track cars taking on off camber hairpins.

That or I'm slowly getting better. Or both.

Have they talked about increasing club size? 6 is minuscule when you think about. The whole club aspect is still pretty underwhelming really.

Congrats! Were you also avoiding the rest of the tour mode because of it? I have a horrible (or good?) issue where I need to do things chronologically, meaning I can't go and do future events without completing everything prior. So I'm about two or three tours behind :/'

Nah, 6 is perfect IMO. I think once the full club stuff has been fleshed out (I'm sure there's more to come) it'll be the right size. It's small enough to ensure there's some tight-knittedness amongst fellow club members. I reckon once you start going over 6 (or maybe 8) it gets to be too big and you don't give a shit who's in your club or not.

I think 6 is not perfect, the chances of getting 6 people all online together is not very high, I think if it was 10 or 15 the club side of the game would mean more as when you did a club race you may actually get a club battle, at the moment I just treat the club races like a solo race. It would be great to have a slightly higher limit as I bet most clubs only have about 2-3 active players at the most.

Kind of agree, kind of disagree. I think it's about right that as soon as your club gets too big that you stop caring about people. However I wish clubs would be clans and the clubs itself would be like squads of the clan.

I used to despise drifting with a passion in this game, now i'm still not 100% sure what's going on but at least i can 3star those tour events without feeling like I've lost years of my life. Now my nemesis is the BHR Track Day, but at least time trials are genuinely fun.

That was an amazing race with an even more intense end to it. I hadn't seen it coming at 95% but alas never give up until the last corner.

I'm gonna spend a lot of time in DriveClub today.

Yeah, I agree with that too, but (and I've thought about this before) I think if there could be, say, 8-10 members total but only 6 allowed in a race at once (if it's a club event) then there could be subbing and it'd give a higher chance that a squad of 6 could make a race.

That'd be how I work it, anyway. Not sure how it'd mess with team kudos points, but that's not really the issue. Issue is, getting 6/6 people online at any one time is nigh-on impossible with the global PSN setups and friends and such, but 6/10 would be far, far easier.

Haha, nice one. I must have played the Venom challenge for close to 90 minutes yesterday only to miss the goal by 0,05-0,10 seconds on my best attempts and it was driving me nuts... Luckily it went better this morning and took me probably under 10 attempts to finish it at 1:15:939 so I'm done with that challenge and got the 225th star as well.

12 would be better as that is the race limit so you can easily build different events around it. You can have a full club only race (probably rare but there will be clubs up for it), 6v6 club only (again rare but there will be clubs up for it). 6v6 against other clubs, you can break that up even further and do club only 1v1 tournaments. 1v1 Tournaments against other clubs. You could do an asynchronous Championship mode, i.e. each week a new track, the same car, warm up laps and no restart final with a quit counting as a DNF. Club only set challenges such as drift king where everyone competes for an accolade that other can see. Club Meeting mode where you just have a track or a large space to mess about on with all the usual things turned off.

The clubs are the most disappointing thing for me with the game as there is a lot they could have done with it. But a small blip on what is a fantastic game. They could improve them massively and make them into a compelling feature that people actually want to use rather than just using them to get cars. I would be more interested in seeing this fleshed out rather than other things.

I love it when you're racing at night on one of the more narrower stages such as India, and it's storming like crazy, and you can't see shit. And every so often lightning will strike and light up the whole track, allowing you a second of comfort and security, before vanishing and being plunged back into not being able to see shit. Lol.

If anyone wants to have good (usually clean) races online, friend me!!!
I'm literally on everyday somewhere around 5-10 pm PST for a couple of hours and I only race online.
Just say neogaf in the message.

Dedicating this week's gaming time to Driveclub before the arrival of Bloodborne on Friday. Might send some challenges people's way.

First time posting in this thread - would like to post some feedback.

Latest patch seems to have introduced another rendering bug. (at least i don't recall seeing this before) At certain view angles/time of day the road ahead becomes a mirror finish and gradually fades back to normal. Sometimes there are larger expanses and other times a few spots here and there. It has made driving quite difficult on certain tracks.

Some screens below to illustrate:

10am Cayoosh Point (i think) dry.

Happens on other tracks as well.. I tested Japan/Chille same conditions. Annoying.

Another thing i'd like to point out is some fairly aggressive LOD issues. On the whole, draw distances are fantastic in DC, but there're a few spots that seem at odds with the rest of the presentation. (this is a bit nitpicky to be fair but what the hell)

Loch Duich

Light coloured bushes fade in a bit late - it's thrown me off a couple times on that corner.

Same again on this Canada track (yellow coloured flowers)

I wonder if there's enough overhead to fix this sort of thing. Well I figured now that it's been confirmed DC will be in the works for a while they'd be committed to iterating the engine and improving certain things so here's hoping.

Other things i'd like to see are:

- Time of day indicator during race. (to emulate some of the tour event setups in our own events)
- Better ambient lighting on approach into tunnels (too dark for me, and the exposure shift doesn't feel all that natural - also on exit)
- Better UI for selecting car. Scrolling left and right is getting old. Perhaps by manufacturer/type etc. Will get worse as more stuff is added.
- Random or pre made livery setups. (because I don't have time to make my own)
- Improved IQ - Order 1886 has spoiled us.

I noticed that too. Some aspects of the visuals left me disappointed as I were of the impressions there wouldn't be something like this. And some textures doesn't look sharp or detailed.

I also haven't had this much fun with a racer since Gran Turismo 5: Prologue!

If you drive using the cockpit view, you wouldn't even need that, as most cars already include a clock on their dashboard.
See, it's 11:52 in this shot of yours:

Ok, so a lot of very interesting races here. Raced a lot with DHC Shannow and some other pretty quick people. There were a lot of collisions, photo finishes and RAGE QUITS!!!
Crazy races.....man, custom lobbies can't come soon enough!!!

Messed up bad but came back for the win.
