You will be able to use PS3 sticks on PS4 for Ultra Street Fighter 4

you had to pair an arcade stick with your dualshock. So if you are using 2 arcade sticks on 1 console you need 2 dualshocks (for tournaments it was hassle till they found out how to delete a dualshock/arcade stick from the console). Lab Zero said taking that step wasn't necessary and something NRS did so we don't know if USF4 will be like that or not.

Yeah, that's certainly annoying. I didn't own a second DS4 until last month and I've owned the console since launch day. Regardless it'd be nice not to have to do that.

Awesome news, will gladly double dip (much more than that if you count previous versions) come Thursday. Can't wait to get wrecked online once again :D

Was thinking of going with a PS360+ at some point, but the mkx situation has me doubting whether that's a good idea.

Has Lab Zero ever come out with a 'best case scenario' on how the driver should function for an end user when it's implemented properly? I'll more than likely be waiting to see how USF4 handles it before moving forward regardless, but it would be nice to know how it should ideally function.

So we're still on for May 26th, right?
The marketing for this game has been absolute shit. I'm really pumped to buy it and I can't pre-order, nor do I ever see advertisements for it.

How is this even possible? Didn't Sony give some notices that legacy controllers would never work because they were missing some BS security chip or someshit?
If this is possible why are they still not opening up legacy wheel support too?

Best case is plug and play.

Sony, from the getgo, has said that legacy support is up developers. That has been the case from launch. Labzero made a driver and now developers are using the driver.

Everyone, buy Skullgirls on PS4 to show your support for Lab Zero. And buy this port of USF4 to show Capcom that we appreciate them listening to our feedback on arcade stick compatibility.

Yeah, this is happening.

But it also won't stop me from wanting a second HRAP 4 Kai or finding and padhacking a Hori FC 4 to put into my V3 Kai.

I was thinking they were going to announce this soon. Especially since Evo is running USF4 on PS4 that would limit the amount of people playing by quite a bit if they couldn't use their sticks.

Just put the pre-order up so I can buy the game already for the 80th time and I don't even play it.

So glad to finally have this news out there!

sold.

but i wonder if the inpin would work too?

If this is the Inpin PS2 adaptor, it doesn't work - it masquerades as a DS3 which means the system completely ignores it.

I'm not entirely sure what sort of implementation USF4 ended up with.

In the future we're definitely going to provide more guidance as to what we consider the "correct" way to implement this, but a lot of it comes down to the code / profile situation they're dealing with.

Very wise decision on the part of Capcom. The game goes from a pass to an automatic Day 0 purchase for me and I'm sure a lot of you feel the same. I never doubted you'd do the right thing Based Capcom (ok maybe I was just a tiny bit worried haha)

The elimination of slight input lag sounds great for the PS4 version - but what about the PS3 version? That sounds like a performance issue that needs addressing, rather than a 'feature'.

I never owned a fightstick, but this is great news to hear! But I think I finally put buying one into consideration, most likely the PS3/PS4 toggle sticks.

So that HRAP stick is better than the TE ones Madcatz is putting out?

Preference. The Kai has some nice features the TE2 doesn't (touchpad, button reassignment), but it's a lot lighter. TE2 comes standard with Sanwa, easier to mod (although this comes with potential pitfalls as well), feels generally more sturdy imo.

The Hori sticks at 150 vs. the TE2 at 200 is a really good stick, though.

Ravidrath: You guys are doing amazing work and I will be purchasing anything I can from you to show my support. Simply awesome. <3

I think that ship has sailed, the PS3 was not even the tournament standard in the last few years due the input lag. Since PS4 is now touted as the new standard for USF4, I don't think further support for the PS3 or 360 is going to happen, maybe some dlc, but that's it.

They had several iterations of SF4 to fix the PS3 lag, but they never did.

I'm a pad player, but I'm happy stick players get to play with they are more confortable with.

Can't wait for Tuesday!!

I don't use a stick(i've always used a controller for fighters, actual arcade sticks feel strange in my hands, and i don't like not having all the buttons easily accessible with minimum distance), but i just want to say thank you to Sony, Naughty Dog and most importantly Lab Zero games for making this type of issue a little bit more consumer friendly.

This just means more population for the games and that's always good

Sony kicking that can down the road has to be the crappiest decision made with the PS4 to date.

So if that's the case could it be possible it could eventually get into the ps4 firmware?

Nope, never. They don't want to have to "officially" support legacy peripherals, nor do they want a Wii U-like controller proliferation diasaster scenario.

But security is the main thing. By sandboxing the PS3 stick support within the games with our game-specific driver, the rest of the system is secure. And security is the main reason they stopped supporting that on PS4.

I figured as much. I already bought a ps4 stick but if/when I get some friends that play fighting games I'll be set.

If Capcom did it, I guess there's a remote chance ASW might as well.

Time to try and find a way to make my 360 MadCatz stick work on PS3/4 that won't cost almost a new stick... :(

Crocus max with 360 stick pretending to be ps3?

Hm, interesting. If you set the device to PS3 mode and not automatic system detection, that might work without needing to keep resyncing every 10 mins, unless the converter emulates a dualshock3, in which case it won't. I have one and might fiddle around with it and MKX and see what happens.

So that HRAP stick is better than the TE ones Madcatz is putting out?

I personally feel so. I like the design more, I prefer having the Hayabusa by default, it has a touchpad button in case a game needs it and it costs less. I also prefer the Kai variant as the extra space between the lever and buttons is nice for those of us with larger hands.

It does come down to preference, for the most part, but the value is there.

I'm also not a lover of Sanwa, so only having to swap the buttons for Seimitsu is a better cost decision for me in the long run.

Will Eightarc sticks work? IIRC they said ps3 sticks would work for MKX and it didnt for me :(

EDIT: Oh yea I have the dual mod stick if that makes a difference

Well, shit this is concerning to me. As far as I know, Eightarcs are essentially the same as Qanba sticks, so why would those work but not the Eightarc?

I'm going to be super bummed if that's the case, though fortunately I still have a MadCatz TE that should be fine.
