Confirmed: Transformers Devastation is made by PlatinumGames

I can't understand this platinum hate, I really can't. I would have thought that platinum working on a transformers game would be a dream for most people. I hope they have been given enough time to make a quality product, so my fear is the involvement of activist on more than anything else.

I love Platinum, but I don't care for Transformers so have no desire to play it. Was the same deal with Korra.

If Platinum made say, an Avengers brawler, I'd be there day 1 to show my support.

If it were still a Transformers game but looked better (Rising quality or whatever) would you be interested?

Platinum hate? What are you talking about? People are disappointed it's a frickin' transformers game.

The sad truth is that Platinum Games' original ips don't sell well. If Rising was called Vanquish 2 it would have sold like shit. At least with this license it should sell to well to more than its target demographic. Also Korra was rushed out on a shoe string budget and to launch along side season 3 of the show. It also recycled assets from the previous seasons as well. The costs of the Voice actors alone in this game likely out weighs the entire budget for Korra. Plus I would not be surprised if this title was supervised for Activision by High Moon employees already familiar with the brand and how Hasbro wants the property handled.

My concern is the stylized rendering or toon texturing and how it will look in motion.

Man, I'm glad people are able to figure out a game's budget and development time from a few cel-shaded screenshots. That's a very useful skill that must come in handy every E3.

There are people actually happy that it's a Transformers game but pissed that Platinum is making it.

I don't know why either.

no people arent sure if this is bayonetta / rising platinum, or korra platinum. The game being full price hopefully means its the first option

What we need to understand here is that 1) Platinum's using the Generation 1 Transformers designs (accompanied by the original voice actors), which is fucking awesome in itself. They easily could have gone with Michael Bay's absurdly overdesigned trashformers. And 2) Platinum's full budget action games are brilliant. Look what they did with Metal Gear Rising, which had a rushed dev cycle. Who would have thought they'd not only capture the essence of Metal Gear down to the tiniest props, the specific humor, and the tone of the codecs, but also make a character like Raiden the most ridiculous badass through a truly excellent combat system coupled with outstanding animations? Platinum has the right stuff to deliver the best Transformers game of all time.

"Instant robot to vehicle attacks, slam downs, counterattacks, and infinite combos..." This is the kind of thing we want to hear, people.

But the game has zero budget and development time and will have the same quality as a 15 dollar digital download game. I know this because I'm psychic.

I wanted Platinum to revive the mega man series with a stylish side scrolling zero game.

Why can't platinum make every game again

This.
Fucking transformers? With all the robot franchises in the World to choose from.

Well Activision probably asked them to make a game they actually have the rights to. Platinum likely didn't say "We want to make a Transformers game!" They were probably approached by Activsion to develop it.

Once we see footage we'll get a better idea of how much Platinum is invested in this game. Part of me thinks that this is just a job for them to keep the lights on. But the art style gives me the vibe that they're trying to make something good out of it.

Who would have ever put Platinum with the Transformers franchises. This has the potential to sell very well, shame about the timing though.

Korra Platinum was just fine for a $15 game. There's only so much they could do in a year on a budget title. Hell they pretty much overachieved everything.

Platinum wouldn't even have to make these type of games
if people bought the games they are known for.

They have two great titles already available this gen, but people
are not buying them because its not available on their favorite plastic box,
and those that do own that particular box don't seem interested enough.

I am so looking forward to this. I had some fun with Korra, sure it had its problems. But I still got something out of it.
I going to stay positive about this and I think and hope Platinum will deliver a good Transformers game or at least an enjoyable one.

Treasure still makes games?

Let my dreams live as a shambling corpse please. I need the simple hope of S&P3 to keep living.

For some reason I like the formatting in this post

Game length to price ratio is a legit concern for any game.
Platinum games are generally very short for their price. Their value instead comes from replaying while mastering the combat systems. That's presumably what Doctor Ironic's point was.

I think it's more that Platinum appeals to an incredibly small niche and that limiting your already limited audience is a recipe for disaster.

Well not everyone's going to have the same opinion right? Some may think that Platinum's games are short and have little replayability and that's perfectly reasonable.

Nice. Hopefully Platinum gives us another good Transformers game.

People should check out War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron on PS360. Also get your hands on Transformers for PS2. That was a really good one but I think you mainly play as Optimus and a few others.

Have we sunk to the point where we're criticizing Platinum for the "length" of their games?

because the rest of the game was an amazing 2 hours? In my opinion, the game was awful. The short length is actually probably a good thing. But hey that's my opinion. If it didnt exist I would be super excited for this announcement as a huge fan of most Platinum games and a super Transformers fanboy since I as a kid.

but Korra did happen. So now I wait and see which Platinum I get before I get excited

We'll see. The transformer games that are already out are pretty damn good. I'll be shocked if this is better than either of the Cybertron games.

It'll probably have better combat but for people who are into characterisation and story it won't surpass those games.
