How is Pepsi a beverage that exists?

I really miss the old version of Coke tho.. like around 1903 when they banned good ol' cocaine from the carbonated goodness of Coca-Cola

screw you guys

latest

edit: beaten

I was a Coke kid. I dont drink pop anymore, but feel like I'm more Team Pepsi now.

Though they all suck compared to the sweeter version you find in Asia

Dr. Pepper is the second worst soda, after Mountain Dew. Nasty shit.

Coke is better than Pepsi simply because it mixes better with alcohol, Pepsi's sweetness ruins it. By itself both Coke and Pepsi are about the same.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
Even when I drank a lot of soda, I never had a preference between Coke or Pepsi. They were both fine. I seem to be in the minority on that, though – a lot of people seem to be pretty passionate about this.

Why do restaurants even carry Pepsi products? No amount of money is worth putting your customers through that. I mean what the fuck Taco Bell and Jersey Mikes?

Fixed.

Because Pepsi makes more than Pepsi and Taco Bell has a partnership with Frito Lay.

Blind taste tests afaik have actually shown that most people prefer Pepsi flavor. But Coca-Cola has very strong marketing.

Gonna be honest with you all.

They're the fucking same.

Pepsi, coke.

I mean, they taste slightly different, but not in a "one tastes better than the other" way.

Seriously, the difference is so insignificant i can't even begin to comprehend how people choose sides on this.

As to answer OP.

I dunno about where you live, but where i live, Pepsi is substanceally cheaper in price than coke, with barely any difference in taste, i can see how people buy it.

What are you on about, OP? I drink Pepsi night and day (Diet Pepsi and the w/ Cherry version), and it never goes flat on me that fast. Maybe SLIGHTLY faster than Coke but not much.

Pepsi is superior. I like both, but Pepsi is superior, especially Diet Pepsi with Cherry compared to Diet Coke/Coke Zero with Cherry. Hell, I'm gonna go get one right now.

Pepsi Max Cherry > Coke Zero Cherry

Options are nice and Coke products tend to come overly carbonated, which I am not as big a fan of.

But the market share should come into consideration? It seems like 80% coke 20% Pepsi.. If I were Pepsi I'd fix my broken formula to be more competitive.

Pepsi is gross. I went to Taco Bell last week and the only drink they had on tap was Pepsi for whatever reason, and it was so disgustingly sweet and flat.

No

Soda sales are drastically dropping for each company and one of Pepsi's most popular products is Mountain Dew.

Pepsi also makes Schwip Schwap, and even though most of you guys might not know this, since pretty much no one outside of Germany and a few neighbouring countrys drinks Spezi (cola and orange soda mix), it's the best.

I prefer Pepsi, but I'll take whichever one is available. Couldn't care less about getting up in arms about it, either. Diet anything is terrible, though.

Maybe the diet version of Pepsi is better, but you can literally leave an open coke in the fridge for 3 days and only lose like 50% of the carbonation. Pepsi lasts like 3 minutes before it starts going flat.

Dr. Pepper, for when all you want is a nice cold carbonated cough syrup.

Orange soda > everything

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when I see people praising Dr. Pepper. Shit tastes like medicine.

Real talk tho, Coke Zero da gawd. I'd drink nothing else if I wasn't too lazy to run out every time I finish a 12 pack.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Alright, I have a question:

But was still 100% flat 5 minutes after opening the can, a problem basically every Pepsi product has (hi Mountain Dew, why do I have to basically chug your delicious contents in order to fully enjoy every drop?)

What is this? I've asked this before, here on GAF, to people I know in real life, other places on the internet, and never have I gotten an answer. What's the difference when it's flat? Effervescence isn't really that pleasant a feeling, we drink plenty of other things flat, so it's not the physical sensation people want. I've seen vague implications that carbonation affects taste, but have no such experience. Why don't people want soda (or beer) to go flat? What's the deal?

Congratulations for falling into marketing. You may or may not taste a slight difference, but calling Pepsi disgusting and Coca Cola the nectar of all that is holy? Nah bro.

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
Pepsi > Coke

So I guess you can say it exists because of people like me. Also, Pepsi is huge in Asia.

Because flat Soda and Beer taste terrible, the carbonation makes them incredible.

Same reason you don't eat melted Ice Cream.

I used to like Pepsi waaaay more than Coke when I was growing up. Then I went to a college which only had Pepsi in the dining commons, and after ~2 years of that I just got so sick of the extra sugary-ness of it and actually pretty much stopped drinking soda for a month or 2 because I couldn't handle the sugar. Then i started drinking Coke and haven't looked back.

Totally wronger about Nintendo's business decisions.

Simple. It tastes like shit when it's flat.

Because some people (like me) find it taste better. The market is huge and can support multiple players that cater to different taste.

The world would be boring is we lived by one corporations designed sodas. Hell if that were the case we'd probably be stuck with New Coke as there would have been no alternatives for people to flee to.

I also recall Pepsi winning a lot of blind taste test vs coke.

Because it tastes good.

Why the fuck would anyone want to drink Coca-Cola anyway? Is it the bottle, or the nostalgia Coke drinkers get when they weren't middle aged, depressed, and on the verge of a crippling divorce?

I didn't say it was disgusting, I said it was tolerable. Diet Pepsi is disgusting though, like all diet sodas.

Nah, Pepsi is basically like if someone left a bottle of Coke opened to lose like half the fizz then dumped some extra sugar into it.

I'm questioning why it exists in its current form. If I were PepsiCo, I'd figure out how to at least match Coca-Cola in terms of flavor. It seems like they're trying with Real Sugar Pepsi (tastes almost exactly like Coke) but they still have the issue of it going flat almost immediately
