Is there a breakdown of how much time each of them talked?

Does Trump actually want to win the presidency? Seems he'd be more like the Lex Luthor "Do you know how much power I'd have to give up to be president?" mentality.

Trump actually did really well against the moderators, who were transparently against his candidacy and asked some very, very loaded questions. As a Democrat, I'm glad to see Trump doing so well. He's likely to cement his lead in pretty much all polls after this debate performance.

Lindsay Graham should just drop out of the race now. It was incredibly cringe-inducing for him to answer every single question (regardless of relevance) with something to placate Israel. He also looked like he suffered from constipation and that he was looking at note cards the entire time.

Trump is NOT running as an independent. This is about ego. He can't win aa a third party and he won't give himself the opportunity to lose. He will say oh the party begged me not to run. I would have won. I am the best. Blah blah.

I bet you never watched an episode of Apprentice.

This is exactly the type of tactics he has used in the past.

The GOP is incompetent. There were many opportunities to take Trump down a peg or two in front of their base but everyone except potentially Rand (potential because he was more concerned about putting Christie in his place) was too afraid to bring up his public statements and record.

Someone on this thread mentioned earlier that one of Trump's biggest appeal is being a populist Republican instead of a Republican who promotes big business and trying to convince the working class to vote against their own interests but these clowns could've side stepped that.

They could've attacked TRump without attacking the largest portion of their base.

Due to their ineptitude and timidity I honestly believe now that Trump is front runner and going to stay that way for half a year at least.

Now that Trump is beginning to talk about how much legalized bribery there is in politics and making it clear to everyone that Jeb Bush's donors want something in return for their $100 million, I think this will make him even more popular. His whole "the game is rigged but I had to play it because I'm a businessman" is actually a pretty good defense against the Clinton accusations and makes the other republicans look bad in contrast to Trump.

I think someone posted this about obama/trump a couple of weeks ago, but really it probably applies more to Ailes/Trump lol

You crossed the line first, sir. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand.

We don't tackle racism in elementary school. We do math and reading. I'm a professional, not an ideologue. I realize that's a tough concept for you to wrap your head around.

So when you're reading a passage about, oh say, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, what happens?

Also that's the most absurd notion I have ever heard of. Elementary schools, starting from that kindergarten Thanksgiving feast, absolutely do touch on and talk about racism. There is little excuse not to educate the youth.

For Movers & Shakers in newer polls from where they're currently at in the polls im gonna predict:

Trump goes down by -1
Carson up 2+
Walker (same) 0
Rubio 2+
Cruz 1
Bush 0
Huckabe 0
Kasich 3+
Christie -2
Paul -1

Paul or Christie gets replaced by Fiorina for the September debate

Wow suprised about Carson. He came off horribly. His tax solution was using tithe...

I never took Trump seriously but the way the crowd is reacting is just... something else entirely. This man has an honest shot at getting the nomination.
No he doesnt. The audiences at these types of things are far from random samples. Plus its so early in the cycle that a lot of people just dont care and are supporting him out of frustration that the status quo is beginning to change. Hes not a serious candidate and the polls will reflect that as we get closer to crunch time.

Fox (and the GOP stablishment) is pushing the fuck out of Fiorina.

They really want a white lady to somehow counter Hillary. What is more ridiculous is that they are set to play the tech/business angle, despite the fact that she's been named one of the worst CEOs of all time and her name still raises hairs over HP.

I'm waiting at the next debate to pit Fiorina and Trump against each other for "worst business failure."

People who support Trump are fucking insane, they want this man in charge of our NUKES?

Yes, because Trump likes to act. He's basically made his entire post-bankruptcy career playing a reality TV "big shot." He's friends with a lot of high ranking Democrats and was formerly a Democrat.

I don't believe anything he says about building fences or nonsense like that. Trump isn't stupid. You don't get in his position by being stupid. He knows exactly what he's doing and how he appears.

Trump was the least scary person on that stage last night because it's so incredibly obvious he's just putting this all on as an act for attention and/or to bring the other GOP opponents down. He's a Democrat at heart and a lot of what he says makes perfect sense, just behind a layer of required racist insanity because he knows he has to appeal to the racist insanity.

Ironically, despite being a businessman, Trump is only candidate that's taking an active role to convince people he's not in business' pocket. And people seem to be responding to that positively.

That's just his opinion, but it wouldn't surprise me if his numbers went up. He spouted nonsense half the time and they ate it up.

Trump is the best of that interesting bunch, even with all of his bullshit and faults.

You have to love his response to being asked about his behavior- 'there just isn't time to be politically correct'. As if it takes any more time to be decent.

I'd easily trust him over most of the GOP candidates.

Graham being in charge would be end of the world scary.

Yeah, I'm kind of here too. If I HAD to vote a GOP candidate it would be Trump. I don't agree with his policies but he was the absolute only politician on that stage who told the truth the whole time. (Which is pretty nuts).
Fucking hilarious seeing FOX News Attack him right out the gate with the third party question. And even more hilarious seeing him address the elephant in the room with lobby-ism and calling every other candidate (but Kasich) out.
Even more awesome to see republicans attack FOX News all over FB for going after Trump. I don't think I've ever seen that happen.
Enjoying watching the GOP implode :p

From the NYT:
Though the moderators were careful not to direct a disproportionate amount of questions to Mr. Trump, he received many of the most memorable and sharply worded ones.

“You’ve called women you don’t like fat, pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” Ms. Kelly said.

But she was not done yet. “You once told a contestant on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees,” she said. “Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?”

Last Sunday:
On Sunday, Murdoch tweeted, “Fox Thursday debate vital for all candidates. If Trump gets thru unscathed it will be big win. Time for all to understand his support.”

I wonder if Trump gets positive or negative coverage on Fox now.

I can't get behind this "at least he tells the truth" thing that's happening right now. Trump is just as insane and dangerous as any other GOP candidate and is obfuscating any real legislative plan he might have behind school-yard name calling antics. He seems completely unstable and unpredictable. How in the world is he the best choice if you HAD to choose?

I get that it's fun seeing a TV show star poop on the GOP, but lets not kid ourselves, he's a nut.

I still can't believe the question about God speaking to them got asked. Also on the off chance a republican does win please dear god let it be a big business one and not a social one.

Kid ourselves? In American politics? You don't say!

That was so awkward. God speaking to them? Are you asking if the candidates are schizophrenic lol?

It's a coping mechanism I guess.

In previous years we've all compared the Primaries to Reality TV and now Trump and literally turned it into Reality TV and people are actually appreciative of this somehow?

I actually burst out laughing when I heard that question.

This was less of a debate and more just a chance for the candidates to repeat their talking points on air. Can't wait to see how this field plays out.

To that crowd, that question was the most insightful question asked last night.

Carson believes the crazy shit that he does because of his religion. If it wasn't for that, he'd probably be a reasonable, sane person.

In order of 'god talks to me' crazy, they would rank

The End Is Nigh Tier
Carson
Walker
Cruz

Adds Hot Sauce to the Crazy Tier
Huckabee
Bush

Honk If You Love Jesus Tier
Kasich
Rubio

Pandering Tier
Paul
Christie

I Don't Have Time For That God Nonsense Tier
Trump

The most tolerable candidates are in line with this ranking. Trump, Christie, Paul then Rubio, etc.

The only thing that surprised me is they didn't try and hit Trump with the god question.

Maybe they realized near the end that attacking him only makes him stronger.

I think the nail in the coffin was the Hillary campaign donations, they tried to get him with "well what was It you got from mrs Clinton ?"

"She came to my wedding"

Boom.

That was a good opening for a "which one" from the religious kooks but I think they where so shell shocked he was saying this shit they had no response.

Kasich and somewhat Bush were the only guys on stage I feel like aren't completely terrible politicians.

Both endorsed their histories better than anyone and had legitimate talking points that most conservatives and light moderates could stomach. Almost all of the rest of the stage was full of red meat ultra right wing rhetoric that is just going to scare off normals in the general election.

Good luck, GOP. You are going to need it to steer this clown car into inevitable oblivion.

The Clinton question to me was interesting. Trump was the only one up there who didn't try to take any cheap shots at Clinton whenever given the chance. And here's a very specific loaded question for Trump to hurt Hillary, and he softballs a jokey answer that not only answered the question, but didn't hurt Hillary's campaign at all.

The thing is, unlike at least half the candidates on stage last night, Trump has the decency to not go on about hearing voices from God. And some of those people went on about that long before the debate. Having a batshit insane businessman in office is one thing but there's nothing more dangerous than a religious nut job in office.

"At least he tells the truth" is a terrible reason to vote for someone.

I'm going to vote for a liar over someone who is outright, "Hi, I'm evil!"

That's all pandering though. I don't think any of these politicians are schizophrenic sans maybe Santorum.

I agree with this.

Where can I see some polls about how well each candidate did last night? Who do republican voters consider won the debate?

Decided to make my own tiers.

Crazy tier
Paul
Carson

Evil tier
Cruz
Huckabee
Walker

Boring tier
Bush
Rubio
Kasich

Asshole tier
Trump
Christie

It was a very political answer from a non-politician.

I think he realizes Hillary is the likely next president. He knows Hilary is from the same class as he is. He can't outright say he is bribing politicians but he can show how easily they can be influenced.

I think the difference between the two blowhards (him and Christie) is Trump just doesn't attack everyone, if he sees an advantage to "play nice" as he puts it he will, where Christie just shouts everyone down.

i think mike huckabee was the most odious fuckboy tonight with 'we can't kill babbies!' and then turning around and proudly declaring that the military is for killing folks and blowing up shit (as a way to explain that transgender folks are weirdos that don't deserve happiness).

Yeah, I was like... "is this a presidential candidate, or an 8 year old COD player on Xbox Live?"

The nice thing about Rand Paul is he's the only one talking about the NSA/Patriot Act shit, definitely on that stage, but probably in the majority of the government as well. That's his problem though. He has some things that you can really get behind but then he says something else that undoes it all.

My assessment
1. Huckabee is just a horrible, horrible human being
2. Trump doesn't give a fuck. Fuck you, I'm Trump.
3. What is Rubio even doing there?
4. Kasich, you're in the wrong party stage.
5. Jeb Bush, look at my fantastic run at Florida
6. Carson, Naive foool who somehow became a neurosurgeon. "let's go back to Biblical administration"
7. Walker, his pants are on fire the whole time.
8. Christie. NJ was shit, but it was shittier before!
9. Rand Paul is Rand Paul!
10. Ted Cruz is Ted Cruz.

Winner: Trump

I disagree.... The republican roster is a lot tuffer than the democratice party from top to bottom. If all the Democrats can bring to the table is Hiliary and Biden ... the the Democrats are in serious trouble.
