It's a mixed bag. There are times when the framerate will shit the bed but it's generally fine for a Souls game on console, fluctuating between 25 and 30fps.

It's sadly definitely worse than PS4. The initial starting area is a big teller. However it settles down a bit after you get to the shrine/1st area.

Bit of incompetence on From's behalf considering it runs at 900p.

Curses you in levels of hollow. This can be healed though It is 100% free. Hollow is simply cosmetic, no downsides.

Hmm had bonfire related crashes occasionally over about two hours at 2k, all settings on high. Was about to turn the resolution down but said "ehhh why not" an bumped it up to 4k, same settings. Two more hours, zero crashes and no frame rate issues.

But there's this weird elitistic attitude towards people who prefer coop over solo in the Souls community, and it's super annoying. They're not playing the game right, they're ruining the game etc etc. No. Jesus christ, if they like coop more than solo, they aren't.

Haha yeah thought so, I might try summoning actually, keep forgetting we are online now. One hit kill makes it rather tricky.

I managed to take two hits armoured up, but the host always dies nearly instantly and so do summons. Attacks take off like 20~30 hp lol.

I've read +1ing your weapons take you into higher co-op brackets? So I guess farming up high end weapons won't necessarily help much. Not sure how it works though. I seen one summon who came to help on 1st boss with what looked like later game armour and weapon. Probably a low soul level playthrough and refraining from upgrading weapon too much. He/she melted the boss with a weapon buff as well. Over in seconds lol.

Hope the game picks up for me. I got to Firelink Shrine before bed last night. I played DS 2 last summer and Bloodborne last fall so I think I'm starting to get fatigue from the series. Also played Demons and Dark 1 in the past. I'll finish it still but hopefully it has some surprises in store.

Also I was planning on upgrading HP, Stamina, strength & dexterity equally. Is this a bad idea?

Not armor. Weapons it really depends on how much you like them, usually they're worth waiting on upgrading but some starters are good like the Merc one since dual wielders are kind of rare.

They can be worth a few early upgrades anyway because by the time you're getting the really good weapons the materials and souls needed for the first few upgrades are pretty commonplace.

No, but if you want to know,

getting to max level hollow (5 free levels IIRC) will cause Yoel to die and a new NPC to appear. Yoel gives out free levels based on tiers of how many times you've died. To get second free level you need to die twice. So essentially you can just keep suiciding and levelling up.

For min-maxing warrior is more suited to a complete STR build. Knight does better for quality/some magic investment. 100% block shield in first main area (after tutorial boss, but before 1st boss). Other 100% block shields can drop from enemies carrying them in 1st area.
