Destruction is anti defender by default though. And the franchise was never built on destruction in the first place. The games played just fine without the feature.

Seems like you would have to have construction in the game as well if you want to have balance.

Sure, it didn't start with destruction but that and the vehicles is now what sets it apart from every single other postcard shooting gallery fps. Destruction didn't unbalance defending in BF3/4.

I'm curious - would you prefer no destruction or do you just think destruction adds nothing to the gameplay? I mean I'm scratching my head how anyone could not want it in the games.

Yes please. One of the coolest things in frostbite is the destructability. It's a shame it keeps getting scaled back.

Yes please. One of the coolest things in frostbite is the destructability. It's a shame it keeps getting scaled back.

'levolution' is nice to bring bigger scale change during a game. But it really doesn't compare to what dynamic destruction bring to the table.
Each time there is an explosion on the ground, and it remain perfectly flat, a puppy die somewhere. ( which sadly happen far too often in bf4, at least from what I experienced when I went back to the game acouple weeks ago )

edit : balloon-like airship statement seem like a huge bait/trap, I wouldn't read too much into it ( even if I do hope it mean WWI

I guess my question is this: unless they make it alternate history how are they going to have the hamster wheel of weapon unlocks / upgrades to keep people playing?

I am not saying it's a good thing, but I know they felt BC2 didn't have enough, BF3/4 went far too heavy on this side and it it's a big part of their DLC strategy.

WW1 weapons:

Many are just versions of the same rifle, most are mounted

Edit: and no attachments other than maybe an early version of a scope.
