I'm glad we have confirmation of a WW1 setting. Not because I was rooting for it, but because I want people to be more aware of what happened during that era. I've seen so many comments the past couple of weeks that are incredibly misinformed, it's going to be nice to have more people out there with a better idea of what went down.

I hope that we get a better narrative this time around. I've always liked the Battlefield campaigns, but the storytelling hasn't always been great. Focusing on 6 different soldiers and their struggle through, presumably, 6 different battles could make for some nice soap opera-esque drama. I'm really into it.

Well, I have to agree with them on that. They've been preparing this event since a long time, the hype is going up and up and up and MS fucked up everything by leaking this artwork just a few hours before the event. I can understand why it makes them salty about it.

And, it's my opinion but, it's nice to see some honesty and not the usual "PR talk" that we have those days, with people like Phil Spencer and all this "we are all friends and fans of video games, we are a family and love each others so much" bullshit. ^^"

Something make you angry say it, be respectful, but say it.

And technicaly, he didn't say MoneySoft but MicroMoney, it's absolutly not the same thing!

On the other hand, I'm so fucking tired of the ridiculously long PR cycles with week long teasers leading to the announcement of the release date of the actual teaser trailer a week later. That shit is fucking dumb and ridiculous so I'm kinda happy when a stupid PR plan goes off the rails because of a leak like that.

Nah. It's still dumb.

Calling it Battlefield 1 because it's the earliest game in the "Battlefield Timeline" is a ridiculous argument because there's no "Battlefield Timeline." It's just Battlefield. By that logic, Metal Gear Solid 3 should have been called Metal Gear Solid 1.

Except their is a game called Metal Gear Solid that came out before Metal Gear Solid 3.

lol 6 missions
online better not be a disaster day 1, hardline and battlefront were great but BF4 is still on my mind

unless you have the event right in the morning, expect a leak

Yes but I respect it. Pretty much means 'back to basics' and gives a middle finger to sequel naming conventions.

I guess.

And either way, the name's not that important. What's important and invaluably interesting is how they plan to shake things up (FINALLY) and give us something that's not Modern Warfare. That's what's important.

It's still not as bad of a name as Infinite Warfare.

So Hellfighter Pack, and premiere is 18th October

From Wiki:
"The regiment was nicknamed the Harlem Hellfighters, the Black Rattlers and the Men of Bronze, which was given to the regiment by the French.[3] The nickname "Hell Fighters" was given to them by the Germans due to their toughness and that they never lost a man through capture, lost a trench or a foot of ground to the enemy.[4] The "Harlem Hellfighters" were the first all black regiment that helped change the American public's opinion on African American soldiers and helped pave the way for future African American soldiers."

Badass

After BC2 was when the fun and hilarity of the BF series died. I want them to bring that back.

I've seen some hilarious shit come out of BF4.

That video of the guy detonating the C4 which launches a tank 100 feet in the air who then shoots a fucking jet out of the sky was hilarious.

What a ridiculous reaction to that tweet. I am sure you wouldn't be upset if you were in their shoes as well.

The person you quoted definitely had an intense reaction to that tweet, but I agree with them in that it was a very unprofessional tweet to make.

Anyways, I wasn't looking forward to BF5, but with the WWI setting and that DLC...I think I'm on board!

Kinda wish it was a true to history WW1. What's to stop this from basically being another futuristic shooter? I bet they have stream powered jet packs.

Agree completely. Lets hope the gameplay backs up this possible back to basics approach they are HOPEFULLY taking.

Please no more melee takedowns and melee counters. *crosses fingers*

Hopefully the reveal shows some mp footage. But E3 is next month too so.... MP footage at MS or Sony's conference or the EA conference.

Why do people not understand that this totally isn't DICE's M.O.?
Stop getting your hopes up, geez.

Sounds like it is if you read the bonus on the advertising piece... the Harlem Hellfighters or 369th were a real regiment.

Except their is a game called Metal Gear Solid that came out before Metal Gear Solid 3.

But the way you framed it earlier was basically like this.

Metal Gear Solid then Metal Gear Solid 2 then Metal Gear Solid 1 (because it takes place before the earliest Metal Gear)

Battlefield has evolved, dude. 1942 is 14 years old. I don't wanna go back to that shit.

Battlefield has been a modern day setting since Battlefield 2 (only exceptions have been 2142, 1943, and Heroes if you really want to count that). It gets old, it's nice that they actually have balls to try something new instead of US vs China vs Russia.

Ugh. The thought of the overly juingostic, bombastic war porn of Battlefield in such a tragic setting as the First World War makes my stomach turn.

I'm not against the idea of a WW1 game, one that accurately showed the horror, misery and utter tragic waste of life that the conflict was, that's fine. Valiant Hearts was excellent for example, but one of the dudebro marketed action focused BattleCODS?

Ugh.
