Whoa Harlem Hellfighters inspired DLC? That's so fucking cool. Goddammit this Fall is going to be difficult to handle financially.

It appears that the game takes place in 1920. WW1 ended in 1918, so it's likely to be alternate reality (the question really is: to what extent?).

Could be the Russian Civil War if its actually 1920.

Ww1 setting definitely means I'm not buying it. Future > past

Has anyone played a FPS called 'Verdun: 1914-1918'? I remember playing it in Early Access, and it's basically one of the few first-person shooters that is the closest simulation to WWI trench warefare. It's worth a look if you enjoyed the earlier pre-Modern Warfare Call of Duty games.

I remember learning about the Harlem Hellfighters at school. That's so cool that DICE is focusing on such a historical moment that has more meaning today. Hope they do it right and it makes going back to WW1 as a setting carry more weight.

Edit: Oh, just dlc. Still cool though.

I wish people wouldn't call this steampunk... WW1 was around the time steam powered tech was going away so of course it looks like that, but calling it steampunk makes the game sound more fantasy than it either is or needs to be.

Fun fact: There actually is no Battlefield or Battlefield 1 in the series. The series started with Battlefield 1942, then Battlefield Vietnam, and then Battlefield 2. Being set in WW1, an era before the very first game in the series, it actually makes complete and logical sense to call this Battlefield 1.

Kinda like how Star Wars started with Episode 4 :p

Awesome to know

I'm sceptical I'd like a WW1 shooter. I don't know much about the first world war but I assume it's mostly slow-firing rifles. I can't imagine it being all that exciting.

I was hoping for it to have been WW2. If they remade BF1942 (one of my favourite MP games ever and one of the best ever made) in Battlefront's Frostbite, it'd be amazing.

I'm picturing Red Dead Redemption in various locales, and that seems ok to me.

As I read more leaks from reddit etc and the other BF thread, it looks like there will be 6 single player episodes, and you take over different soldiers. I think the Harlem DLC might just be cosmetic DLC so my hype is cooling just a smidge. So curious to see what the total package is.

Guys, I think Harlem Hellfighters are just a DLC pack. It'd be sick if they were involved in the campaign though.

Exactly my thoughts now. I don't know if they will be involved in the single player campaign. I can only hope.

Dice is not really known for good SP campaigns. No idea why people are getting all excited about the Harlem Hellfighter stuff.

I'm getting the feeling this will be closer to Battlefront than it will be to Battlefield 4.

Battlefield 1 is such a dumb name lol

The name is actually not dumb at all, in fact, is is genius. I'm pretty sure that this is their line of thinking:

- Their is no "Battlefield" game as others have pointed out.

- This game if in WW1 will take place before BF: 1942

- If it is in WW 1, Battlefield 1 kind of makes sense, as in "The battlefield(s) of World War 1" - Battlefield 1
