World of Final Fantasy I got on the Thursday of release week from Square, I got Star Ocean on release day. Both were the free shipping option.

Thanks for the speedy response! By chance, for World of Final Fantasy, did you receive it late or early? Depending on if you're EU, NA or JP, the date means different things.

Local place here in the "country side" of Japan is putting their copies on sale today (they got them in store Thursday.) Thinking I'll save my money and hold out one more week for the English version since I doubt they will have the English version on disc/patched in for Japanese copies. My Japanese still isn't good enough to understand everything that is going on story wise

Thursday in NA so late for me. I got a notification that it shipped on the Saturday before release. So I'm hoping it will ship before Friday so I would be able to get it on release.

Thanks for the in-depth information, I really appreciate it. The notification of shipment is a relief for me, because I've had a bad case of people stealing my packages and really really need an estimated delivery date for the UCE I ordered. If it gets stolen a part of me will die forever.

I recommend clearing your watch history. If you've been searching vidoes related to FFXV such as other Final Fantasy footage or rpgs in general it will reset it back to zero.

Messing around with Judgement. Have to say that cruising through this beautiful world while listening to FF 7 world map theme brings chills. Verendus or no, I balee.

To my understanding all copies of the game have multiple language. A friend of mine works at Square and I asked him if the JP copies had English, he said "They should". So, I think so. I'm banking on it, as I want to pick up a retail copy.

Poops, guess I can't even go listening to the XV OST videos on Youtube for the next week. It's so close now I just don't want to be spoiled on any details. The FFVIII soundtrack videos seem safe in Incognito mode at least...for now.
Also, wow at the amount of drama that went down here this weekend. This is far more interesting than off-topic's Anonymous Confessions, where I would usually hang out in November. More twists, turns and laughs! I hope this thread goes down in history.
The leaks have had a funny effect on me too: I was planning to wait for reviews before placing an order, but knowing that it's already out there made me anxious to pre-order right away (even though I won't actually be getting the game early). It elevated my hype despite staying clear of everything but the broadest of impressions. This is what it feels like to be really excited for an FF game again. It's just such an event.

I agree, Sagely. Although I've had my ups and downs with FFXV, generally I've been looking forward to it for a long, long time. Not until the leaks happened, though, did that excitement become this palpable, concrete thing. Definitely feels like an event at this point, even though I'm feeling more cautious optimism than anything else.
That said, this seems like a good time to bounce from FFXV threads. Not even sure if I'll glimpse the review thread until I've had some time with the game.

Do we have a handle on the environments in this? I know Duscae is the main region but I hope there's more fantastical environments as the game goes.

But of course, no worldwide releases back then. So I spent months on messageboards and reading FAQs people wrote for the Japanese version. I downloaded shitty low-resolution videos ripped from the game so I could watch all the cutscenes. I imported the OST for some ridiculous price. I was 17, so it was probably most of my money then.
And despite all those spoilers and everything before the game even came out, I fucking loved it. In the end, it didn't sit quite as high with me as FF7 did, but man was it good.

I definitely understand, things are pretty volatile right now with all the spoilers; this won't be helped at all by the review thread (not the spoilers, but the general volatile atmosphere). I'm optimistic that the OT will be a fun place to hang out though!

I know you've been following this game a long, long time like many of the rest of us and I agree that new FF time is just an absolute event.

I'm just glad I don't have to play through the game in Japanese in order to play it at launch this time. A 50-hour RPG with only a year of the language under your belt is kinda rough.
These next 8 days are going to be hell to get through. Need to be extra cautious now that early leakers have managed to reach the ending.

We don't really have any context, because the only streamer that got to the ending actually started to stream near the ending.
I don't think we've seen a single streamer in Altissia, for example.
I did like the ending, but I feel like how powerful it really is will depend on the context throughout the story. Right now I'm just connecting the dots between the very ending and everything I know from following this for so many years. We need to see if the game itself can convey that information in a well paced manner.

It was an extremely long time coming, when I was a kid I would have told you a global release of a Final Fantasy game was impossible. We live in good times for gaming.
