His game is ready, plot's weak, exploration heavy
There's a patch to download already

Our review copy still hasn't arrived, so I bit the bullet and bought an early copy (SoCal) just so I can start making *any* progress on the game at all ahead of its street date.

By the way, I know there's been some debate about this, but considering I just bought this in SoCal, this seems to confirm that day one copies in the US are indeed dual-language on the box.

Won't be able to actually get started until I finish work for today, but oh my god I can't wait. It's real, guys. FFXV is real and it's (almost) here!

I know it's not swanky/humblebrag-worthy like a Porsche, but did I do the "get your car's make in the shot" thing right? ;)

Well those impressions sound great enough to me i will take the plunge and get into the series.

The only real mainline FF game i played was FF 3 on the ds years ago great game. Always wanted to try the series again but never got to it. I have the HD remaster of FFX still laying around guess i should get to that soon after i'm done with FFXV.

Remember when FFXV-GAF thought FFXV would last 200 hours? That was fun.

No?

ONE OF US.

Soon enough you'll be discussing which characters you wish were futas.

Hahahaha, yes, you did.

That can still be true.

Open world leads to a lot of side content.

See Skyrim for example, there's more side content than main content.

I'm just hoping side content is cool, like the optional dungeons and whatnot are not just copy-paste of each other.

I understand that there might be some grinding involved, but hopefully they do not go overboard, but knowing Final Fantasy, it probably will.

One of the people who got it early beat the game in 32 hours by bee-lining the story and playing on easy. I'm sure playing the game on Normal and playing through all the side content will soak up a hell of a lot of time. Holding up posts about the story being beaten fast doesn't really discount it since there's more than just a linear story in the game. Of course I don't see there being 200 hours of content in the game, but I can see it easily cracking 100 no problem. All devs exaggerate the length of their game.

Ah, the vague "up to x hours, depending on how much you do". Most likely counting collecting every single bit of useless shiny blue dots, for example.

If the game is nearly as good as I'm hoping it is, I'll probably have more than that. Already 244 hours into Dark Souls III and it was a disappointing game to me.

You crazy man.

Also, I loved DS III, so you double crazy.

Read the impressions, totally satisfied with them and curious to see how
tighter the story gets and if it becomes better executed
and
how much post-game content is there, or how much you can dig in instead of rushing
.

The only real anxiety is about how much linear does the game gets
from Ch.9 onwards: are we talking The Witcher 2 "linear" (one modestly sized zone to freely explore but sectioned off other areas) or FFXIII linear (literally just corridors). Really praying is the former.
Can somebody clarify this a bit more?

Is there a inconsistency to the graphics/textures? Watching the trailer reel before the ign event it looks truly amazing but some of the stuff in the actual event looked last generation quality to me

Not trying to troll honestly curious, haven't really followed a final fantasy game in awhile

I'm not talking about the leviathan sequence, more the overall environments

Seems like we always have these conversations for open world games.

I saw people putting 20 hours in or so to beat Xenoblade X. It took me well over 100.

Same with Fallout 4.

Impressions everyone is asking for, credit to ray and sora:
Here's a non-spoilery question for you, as you've finished the game.

When you've completed the main story and get the credits, does it throw you back into the game (so you can go and do side quest you've not competed)
Or when you finish, that's it. You have to start again, and make sure to get all the side stuff done before going to fight the last boss/area.

Thanks for your time.

I can answer that (he was just posting another user's impressions):

You can save the game after credits and load that save, it'll put you right before the ending, and you can go back to the open world to do side stuff. Not only the ones you left behind, but also some end and post-game content.

Ok. Thanks.
